Just bought the device and a PAYG data sim from Vodafone.
As I already had two other PAYG phone sim cards I arranged for Vodafone to change to the data sim card phone number to one I already had.
The auto APN settings did not work initially but on searching the internet I came up with
APN smart
PIN web
Password web
This worked for a while but trying to access the card at the weekend as had no wifi access I was unable to access the card and despite further trying still cannot make it work.
I managed to log in yesterday and it showed over £12 of credit but it now simply will not connect.
Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.

Yesterday they ported my account to a new provider named Simyo.
Till yesterdayI did not have any problems connecting to internet, but now (after changing to the Simyo SIM card) I can not get it to work. (I've reset the phone to factory defaults, and it did ask to install the new provider settings)
I've activated Internet on the providers website for my account, so this is on.
Anyone here on Simyo that does have a working internet connection?
Hi,
i have a new g1 phone, which was unlocked last week. everything worked for a short while, but suddenly i've received a "Your SIM card does not allow a connection to this network" error message, and couldn't find a network anymore.
i've tried to hard-reset, but since then it doesn't recognizes my sim card (or any other sim card). i just get a 'no sim card in phone' message.
what can i do?
thanks!

Go to your carrier's nearest store and get a new SIM card?
The first step might be to remove and CLEAN your simcard.
If that doesn't work, concentrate on REPLACING the simcard.
well, i've already tried 3 different sim cards, none of which were recognized by the G1, so i'm assuming this isn't caused by the card itself. right?
Settings -> Security & location -> Set up SIM card lock -> disable then re-enable Lock SIM card.
That should fix it.
I am also having this problem with my G1; I have no service on any of the sim cards i have tested.
When searching for networks it happily finds them all, but will not connect.
I tried the tip mentioned above with no luck.
If anyone knows the solution that would be fantastic!
I picked up a Legend from Virgin Mobile to use with Fido. Had it unlocked through mobileincanada.com
I played around with the network settings and can't get it to pick up a network. I get a message that says "error while searching for networks", and when i click select network automatically it says "your sim card does not allow connections to this network"
When i put my sim card back into my old phone everything is fine.
Any ideas????
I have exactly the same problem, and it happens more often when roaming.
Solutions are: rebooting the phone or manually selecting the network
PS: I've seen this happening on my father's desire too
I've tried both solutions but it still doesn't work. I need to get this phone going, not sure if i can return it since i have unlocked it.
Could it be that my sim card is the problem. I currently have an Nokia e71 with a data plan that it works with......
I know you can take an unlocked phone and put it in virgin, it has the instructions for how to do it on the virgin website.
Maybe call up fido and ask what you need to do to hook your unlocked phone onto their network.
This is what you need to put an unlocked phone on to virgin so I assume you'll need these 3 things from fido.
APN: inet.bell.ca
Proxy server: web.wireless.bell.ca
Port: 80
thanks for the help it worked!!!
Man i just thought i had bad luck. Weird thing is that i had tried a bunch of different settings and would reboot. Didn't work, i seriously must have tried 20 diff settings and combinations. What worked was one that im sure i must have tried 5 times already. After a reboot it just worked
this is what i used
apn: internet.fido.ca
and everything else default or blank
I unlocked successfuly my tmobile g1 coming from usa, but now I have no signal and unable to register on network.when I go in settings, wireless control,,mobile networks.when i ask for available networks i have this error message:"error while searching for networks".even when i choose select automatically i have this:"your sim card does not allow a connection to this network".we have GSM, GPRS, and EDGE in my country.Do you have any idea?thanks!
It's your SIM card being locked to a specific network. You might have to contact your vendor.
I don't understand,my sim card locked?I don't have pin code.you are talking about my foreign sim card(non tmobile?)could you explain more?
I don't know why either. I just know that is what happens. I had the same problem with my SIM too when I went on vacation. But I didn't bother trying to fix it. Since I brought the local SIM to use because I didn't want to pay the international rates.
I've been a T-Mobile customer with my OnePlus 1, got the OnePlus 5 today and went by the local T-Mobile store and got a new SIM card. A couple hours later I got around to actually setting up my phone. I realized I wasn't getting app verification codes, so I called T-Mobile to make sure the SIM card activated properly. She had me confirm the SIM card was inserted properly, then she had me turn the phone off and she "sent it a signal." That got text and data working, but still no go on the phone. She transferred me to the next tier up tech support. On the phone with them, we turned off WiFi, WiFi calling preferred, VoLTE, and automatic selection for Network operators. The phone did it's search and we selected T-Mobile 4G for the Network operator. The phone says it registered on the network, but T-Mobile says it didn't. We tried the second SIM slot but no change. We did a couple reboots and still a no go. I was then told that since it's not a T-Mobile branded phone, they can't guarantee that it will work. They recommend I put the SIM in a T-Mobile phone to confirm that the SIM works - I'll do that when I get home and try it in my wife's phone.
When I turn on VoLTE, I get text and can make calls, otherwise if I make a call, it just calls T-Mobile.
Under Settings > About phone > Status > SIM status, Cellular network state shows disconnected.
I also see under Settings > SIM & network > SIM 1 > SIM name it shows the name as T-Mobile but Carrier says Unknown
Fresh out of the box, running 4.5.3. Has anyone else had any problems getting their OnePlus 5 to register on T-Mobile? I searched the T-Mobile support site but didn't find anything helpful.
I'll try the SIM card in the wife's T-Mobile S7 when I get home, but if anyone has any pointers, I'd appreciate the help.
OnePlus 5 on T-Mobile here and no issues at all.

Same here. I also have 0 issues
Are you using the latest 4.5.4 update for OP5? They had fixes for VoLTE not connecting. Even though I think that was Europe only thing, the download made its way to my phone automatically. If you're not on 4.5.4, go upgrade (it's a simple thing to do)
What are your APNs set to?
Goto...
Settings
Sim and network
Sim x (1 or 2, wherever the sim is installed)
Access point names
Without doing anything besides entering my sim card into the phone and starting it, I have 4 options
If you have anything outside of your current provider, add them. The easiest way to do this is to open up another TMobile phone you have, goto to the same location on that phone and copy settings manually to your OP5.
I did this for my wife's S7 coming from Verizon. Although she doesn't get WiFi calling without flashing firmware (which I'll be doing when she's ready) you shouldn't have that issue.
Bad SIM card
Turns out the SIM card was bad. Went to the T-Mobile store, let the guy double check everything, then he grabbed a new SIM card, popped it in and two minutes later everything was working. I asked him how often he sees bad SIM cards, he said one or two a year.
