MS2Ginger 5 CAMERA ON BL7 - Defy Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello Guys!
Today I successfully installed the new MS2Ginger 5 ROM on my Defy BL7 and I was surprised, because THE CAMERA IS WORKING!!!!!!!!
I am wondering about can anyone crreate a flashable zip from the new MS2Ginger ROM including the SOC and Bayer camera files for BL7 users who want to use CM7???
In my opinion a lot of users would really apprechiate it

Flash through cwm, rename gallery2.apk to gallery2.bak, check permissions, reboot. If camera doesn't show in launcher then clear cache of gallerygoogle, reboot...If camera is laggy then disable hwa for it. This worked for me, but saving an editing picture gave a FC...
Hope this helps...

[Q] MIUI Weekly update how to help

For people using MIUI, does anyone know step-by-step what to do in order to flash the updated MIUI each week for the bravo?
I'm currently on 1.9.9 via rdannar's link and want to flash to 1.9.16.
I tried doing some research on these threads and so far I:
-downloaded the defy update rom from miuiandroid.com and then deleted boot, devtree, and logo
-replaced the defy update META-INF folder, with rdannar's META-INF from his first MIUI version.
what next?
Thanks for the help!

zip the file again and sing the file.
If you need some help let me know!
Could someone write a step-by-step instruction for miui update? I always get camera message "cannot connect to camera" before camera even started.
Camera doesn't work with stock app... that's why you get this message.
Sent from my CM7 Motorola Bravo
Yes, I know that stock app doesn't work. What I'm trying to say is that 3rd p. apps like Action Snap or Fast Burst Camera doesn't work either when I'm trying to port the miui rom. In addition, the stock camera doesn't even start and I get this message in a second when I'm trying to open it. For instance, camera starts and this message appears after I'm trying to shot a pic in roms by MotorolaBravo user. I hope I made my statement more clear.

ICS Camera [Problem: cant take pictures - not enough space]

hey,
i've got the NexusHD2-IceCreamSandwich Beta10 by tytung and installed the ICS Camera HAL for 2.6 kernel
but now i have a problem... i cant take pictures.. it shows me that i havent enough space anymore on my storage card
how to solve this problem ?!?
P.S.: the panorama view by rapmv78 works fine
Did you try a clean install?
how do you mean clean install?? to install ICS on my HD2 new or to install the camera HAL again??
Does barcode-scanning work for you? I've installed the same camera but it seems not to work properly.

I have ICS-NexusHD2-CM9-V.1.3 installed on my HD2 with the stock camera and the barcode-scanning doesn't work so i may think that not your HAL camera is the problem of the barcode-scanner. It is a problem with ICS camera. Use NeoReader for scanning barcodes. Cheers!
havent try the barcode scanner...
anyone an idea to solve the problem with the space of storage card??
I meant clean install of the ROM. Try the new CM9 rom of tytung. It's more advanced than the old AOSP ROM.

[Q] Problem with Defy Plus and CM7.

Hello everyone
So yesterday i flashed this CM7 build cm72-111212.1201-NIGHTLY-Defy+.zip and today i was going to take a picture just to find out that my camera force closes everytime i try to launch it.Any solutions for this?
I flashed it over stock 2.3.5 if that helps...
No one knows? I tried reflashing and that didnt work...When i try to run it i get camera(process com.android.camera) has stopped unexpectedly and force close button.BTW my battery stops charging at 88%,anyone knows whats up with that?
I suggest flashing a new CM7.2 Nightly build for defy+
from this great thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1458729 i found:
12-01-27 Epsylon7/Defy+:
cm72-120127.0846-NIGHTLY-Defy+ link: http://www.defy-cm.net/defy_plus-cm7-nightly/
and AL's posted Defy+ fixes for camera and battery etc http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21875699&postcount=15069
I flashed this over a stock Defy+ 2.3.4 4.5.1-134_DFP-74
Thanks for your reply i always thought i had the latest one since it was the first on the list...well i gotta pay more attention to dates
EDIT:Everything works now,thanks again...
defy plus
Hey,
Even i have a defy plus with 2.3.4 rom...and kernel 2.6.36.9 ....planning to flash the latest defy plus nightly.....
I have rooted and installed 2ndinit and took a nandroid backup of my rom sucessfully.....so whats the next step??
Do i need to install anything else before installing the defy plus nightly??
And what are the features it enables??
Does it provide 720p video recording and playback??
Newbie here. please help.
Thanks.
if you installed 2ndinit and booted to CWM-recovery ... and you already have a nandroid backup of your device, you only have to install the zip from sdcard and you are ready to go (maybe you need to flash fixed-sbf with the kernel for cm7) ...
hi ganesh0992,
slstr above has given good links regarding flashing CM7.2 on defy plus. I am running the same build of CM7.2 cm72-120127.0846-NIGHTLY-Defy+. you should follow those instructions and don't forget to apply battery/camera fix.
720p capability is not supported in this ROM by default, you will need to apply a different patch, i don't know if one exists for CM but there is one for STOCK rom and another rom (mginger), google it. (CANT POST LINKS NEW USER!!)

This is a known problem in the nightly you used! Use Quarx nightlies. They are better and more updated!

[Q] Camera issue with CM 7.2

Hello,
I have a Defy with red lens and after I install the CM 7.1.0-11 Stable, my camera display shows all images inverted.
So I searched for solutions in this forum, and read that some nightly builds has this problem solved.
I tried 3 different ROMs,
cm7-02162012-NIGHTLY-Defy from Quarx,
cm72-120131.0531-NIGHTLY-Defy from Epsylon3 with this fix
and Maniac103 builds from this link, and the problem persists.
Before every install, I wipe data/cache and Dalvik.
I tried to clear camera data in manage applications too. No results.
What more I can do to fix this issue?
reflash a good froyo sbf and then try installing stable cm7 7.1
There's a fix for that issue.
Download that and update via CWM

Hope it'll help

It worked on my MB526 running CM7.2 GB.
After a lot of tries of different ROMs, builds and fixes, the camera preview still inverted.
I attached a catlog file.I entered in the Camera app and take a shot. If someone can help me to find a solution for this issue.
Actually, I'm using the White Rabbit 1.3 rom.

help CM10 : No external Storage available

after i install cm-10-20121125-UNOFFICIAL-mb526.zip
I got this error message after starting the galerie app (camera even too)
This is the first time I get this error.
i have defy plus 526
You installed 4.2 CM10.1 on defy. Search in developer section [JB+] CM10.1 you'll find how to mount sdcard, but in not permanent, you'll need redo this after reboot. I suggested you to go back to CM10 - it's for daily use.
tnks
thanks but i still have the probleme
