Capacitive touchscreen works on sensing the change in the capacitance when touched. Water creates trouble as its capacitance is close to that of human body so if water touches the screen, it behaves as if being touched at multiple points.
Also it stops reacting to human touch as it cannot distinguish it from water.
Google it for more detailed description of touchscreens.

Screen coating abrasion

Has anyone noticed the screen coating abrasion on the most used area of the screen? In my case right lower part as I am right handed. It is not very obvious but when you look at it with the help of ambient light reflection you notice it.

same here.. no abrasion on my DHD, i am using a screen protector as well.. i think its time you should get 1 as well...
+1 for the screen protectors, ill be fitting mine in a day or so
Have you tried a really good cleaner? might just be crud stuck to the screen from day to day use,, used to get it on my iPhone but usually 'wiped' clean
Good cleaner doesnt solve the case.I guess mine has a production defect then. Kind of defective thinner coating. I will return to HTC for replacement. Lets see how will they react.

my DHD never comes out of its otterbox so no problems here

Screen problem

I have problem with the screen, whenever my finger sweats, the screen goes haywire. Any solution on this.

Capacitive touch screens detect anything that is conductive so it will register water/sweat/kool-aid. You just have to keep your fingers dry.

But I have been using phones like, galaxy s, s2, milestone, milestone 2, and some other phones. I have this kind of problem when using x10 and atrix only.
Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk
I think it's more of a software thing, Motorola uses some sort of "liquid detection" (or something like that) on their phones which pretty much causes issues. Add that with the "multi-touch" bug the Atrix has then it just becomes a big mess. The Atrix will register moisture on the screen as a "touch" and then if it stays like that for 10 or 12 seconds then the screen goes bonkers.

Well my situation isn't related to wet fingers or moisture.
I don't think it is a matter of software bug either as its always the exact same area.
My last test was to use the Touch Test app and when I run my finger across the screen and it detects touch all the way across except a vertical strip from top to bottom. For instancr I can't use letters w, e, s, z when in portrait mode.

Stuck/dead pixel!

My brand new pad has a pixel that won't show green...running one of the apps that says it fixes that... If it doesn't work, i'm going to see if I can get a replacement.
Just a warning to everyone. Be on the lookout.

I've got a dead pixel as well. Near the top left. Doesn't really bother me that much, so I don't really care. Surely one teeny little pixel doesn't warrant you returning it ...?

I used to think that. But if its been like, 3 Weeks and there's already one dead pixel... What does that say for the possibilities?
Just called Asus - he tried to get me to do a wipe.
Are you kidding me? wipe all my data? Asus - get rid of the spiel, its junk. Get ppl who know whats up on the phones ugh

My first pad had a dead pixel. I found it the second day and returned it as soon as I could. It was kind of in the middle of the screen, and I could see it every time I viewed a white web page. Needless to say, it bothered the heck out of me and had to be returned.
i went through 4 tabs until i got one that was fine display wise. first one had a cluster of discolored pixels, like someone pressed their thumb hard on the screen and damaged the area. the other two each had a couple grains of what looked like sand under the glass. All of these were around the same area on the tab, mid-lower left area of the screen.
Mines mid high right...
I'm worried about an attempted unlocking... I tried to unlock my tab before they fixed the c4okt issues, and im wondering if it might've sent them a file about that... Also wondering if unlocking will void it for a screen issue.

Dead and stuck pixels are far from unique to Asus. There is a difference by the way, a stuck pixel is one that is, well stuck displaying one color, these can sometimes be fixed by programs like you are running and/or gently massaging the area with a pencil eraser or something similar, dead pixels don't display any color and are rarely able to be fixed.

My dead pixel I guess just happens to be in a place where I rarely notice it. I tried one of those dead pixel detect and fix apps but it didn't fix anything.

There is one other thing you can try, VERY gently massage the dead pixel with a something like a pencil eraser, that will sometimes get it working.

That's fine and all... but there's a much thicker layer of glass over a capacitive screen than there is over a resistive touch screen... or just a LCD monitor.
Unless I'm missing something here, this advice does not apply anymore.

The screen will still flex. I am not sure whether it would work or not on these devices, I just put that out there hoping it might help.

Don't feel too bad. I just made the mistake of looking at an all black screen on my Acer a510.
NINE stuck pixels!
One little cluster made a shape exactly like the big dipper. Very artistic, with pretty multicolored stuck-pixel stars.
Needless to say I wasn't thrilled. So much for quality control. Sounds like Asus at least isn't this bad.

anyone one else feel 'dips' in the screen?

this seems pretty strange, but sometimes when I swipe my finger to scroll or during a game, I swear I feel like a dip in the screen. problem is I can never recreate it. I would scan the screen with my finger to try and feel for the dip, but never find it. this would occur randomly during normal use, so wondering if anyone else had this?
Is this a joke?

heh heh heh heh heh heh very funny ))))
Try rubbing your balls over the screen, there more sensitive so you can find that dip,I would also recommend having some porn running on it so you cover the dead pixels

Mmmmm ball rubbing haha.
No idea what you mean by a dip. Can you physically see anything?
Its obviously his skin folding under itself when he runs his finger down quickly. Then it unfolds and he feels a jump

Put one hand on the N7's hip, and then you'll feel the dip.

Or more likely a spot of grease/misc human slime and he perceives the increased movement due to lubrication as a dip lol.

Bent screen

No I do not own a flex
Anyway when I put it screen down on a flat surface and touch the corners it starts rocking.
How to describe better.
One finger on left upper, one on the right down corner and touching once up once down. (Or the opposite corners, has to be diagonal)
If you have the same issue, your should feel it.
It does not distort the screen, but not sure it won't get worse in the future.
Anyone else encountered this?
Sent from my LG-D802 using Tapatalk
I have this but it's because I manually replaced my screen and did not have something to put in so t wouldn't rock but since I use a case that covers the bezel it's not a problem

In my case it's the glass that's bent. Not like it's lifted, but deformed. Not sure how it really happened. Maybe the original quick window cover... or just having it in my pants

Maybe heat? or probably sat on it that made one side of the screen cave in? lol
Always have it in the front more like the heat... btw I would not even notice it.. just by accident I tapped one corner and it was not touching the table...
