Actually this makes my second brick thread I was wondering where is the stock firmware I can't find it. Also what is the method? Odin/Hemdal or something otherwise. I've had this device lieing around for awhile now I'm pretty sure it's been rooted its boots up then flashes the start up screen then dies and repeats.
Odin is used on Samsung devices. Not HTC. You may want to look into the last post in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39946336

To start off with I have had my phone rooted since my g1 in 2009. I did not hesitate to root my mytouch earlier this month and it was successful. Unfortunately, my phone would no longer boot (not turn on at all) after a week of being rooted. I am not sure if rooting caused the error but now I am afraid to root my replacement. I wanted to at least flash my backup but I am afraid to even root for that. Also I should add that I root to flash roms not because I think it's "cool". Can anyone give me advice on if I should root again?
What did you flash right before the phone would not boot or turn on at all? Perhaps it is not the root but the roms that you are flashing. I certainly am not an expert but perhaps you might just try rooting and than wait a few days before trying to flash any roms. Also all that I have read states that you should read up on all the procedures and follow them to the letter. I have had that brought to my attention in a couple of instances. I just received my replacement (screen issues) and have rooted it again and so far things seem okay. I am going to wait and read and learn more before I flash a rom again. Good luck!!

Yeah, I had flashed the hd port after using the z port and that's when the issues started. I think I will root again and just try to be more careful even though i am pretty sure I followed all instructions.m
Sounds like to me it was just timing between phone hardware and your flashing. Unless you are screwing around with with the ROMs prior to flashing without knowing what your doing you should have no issues. If it was ROM related you would see these boards all lit up with people having the same issues...and you simply dont see that.
I've been teaching my girl about the whole rooting and running other roms thing. I've been messing with Android Devices for a while, But never messed with a G1, I currently own a DINC and GS.
she got it rooted and running the newest CWM. But we hit a snag getting any sort of custom rom working. One of the roms required the DangerSPL... lol since that, it will not pass the G1 screen and will not boot into Recovery.
I need help getting this phone back. Any thing anyone can think of?
Did you try flashing the proper radio first?
One of my Schnauzers posted this.
We followed all instructions given, Radio, SPL, and Rom. I made sure she followed the instructions given by the dev that made the specific roms.
The problem is still the same. only the G1Logo, No Recovery or Bootloader starts. You attempt to, and just that logo pops up.
lol stupid "how to fix your bricked g1" threads, every single one of them can easily get into the boot loader or recovery and they call it bricked.
Android G1 mobile software required (urgent)
hi,
My mobile set does not proceed after G1 logo. I need mobile software and method to do that.
i shall be grateful.

Khurram
khurramsarwar, Press and hold the Camera Button and while holding, press the power. What happens? Try Home+Power. What happens?
See a real brick is when these things don't work. Like what I'm trying to fix.
You have a lovely new paperweight.
Your only option is the following...

Yeah I know. I told her to get another, we have already found like 3 or 4 for around 25 bucks! Just waiting for her to get it so I can do it right this time. I told her to be patient and wait for me to do it. But she is anything but.
So buy four G1's for a cool hundo...and split them. Let her do two and you do two. I'm sure she's capable of a second chance alone. If she wants it...shell get it.
Hey, I have 2.1 (Eclair) Wildfire here. Never updated.
Before I root with unrEVOked, I'd like to ask about one thing.
It it possible for it to brick the phone? And if so, at which stage exactly and how can I prevent it?
Could anyone give me an answer?
Rooting and flashing is allmost save. If you follow the guides for rooting / flashing you will go a very save way.
Okay, there is also a liitle chance to brick it. You get a bluescreen while flashing = good chance of a brick (but if this happens there is still a chance to get it back to life). Your cat plays with the usb cable while flashing = also nice way to brick it. Or you just didnt follow the rules of flashing.
If I got this blue screen, how would I go about fixing it?
how to fix your phone or computer?
your computer... dunno.
your Phone...
If you try to flash a custom rom and your pc crashes or something and it fails, try to reflash with a standart www-ruu rom from shipped roms.com.
NEVER use a stock-froyo rom for reflashing!
You have to root again but mosttimes it will work.
I though you meant bluescreen on a phone... I haven't used windows for ages, I got confused.
Bump......
still waiting for goood answer too
Don't root it if you are so paranoid. :/ It doesn't brick the phone at all (Can't see any reports anywhere that Unrevoked bricked 2.1 Wildfires while rooting.)
Obviously, as no thing is 100% certain, there has to be disclosures that "Use it properly else it will be bricked... etc", but, if you follow the proper procedure and use some common sense, its next to impossible.
It's technically possible... Writing the recovery is the dangerous part... But it only lasts 5 seconds..? Something like that, so if the connection breaks (Phone dies, computer dies, usb dies, battery explodes, all of the above) WITHIN that five seconds then you're sc00d. If you're paranoid, don't, and miss out.

Hey guys... So I'm enjoying my DHD, It was on the 3 U.K network, unlocked it, rooted t, running leeedroid atm, however, if I ever need to get it back to a stock rom in case I wanna take it back, how do I go about it?
Remember it was originally on 3 U.K.
Thanks
There's threads all over the dev section, go have a look at them.
I think most people who have sent them back with custom ROMs on there have just been flashed back to stock anyway, so they don't seem to mind that much, but just in case.
As far as I'm aware though it's as simple as downloading a piece of software called a RUU for your phone, which in your case is 3, running it with the phone plugged in and then laughing at how easy it is =)
OR
Putting the img on the root of your SD card, going into bootloader (volume down and power on, then bootloader) and it automatically finding it, installing it and then reboot.
But I'd suggest reading a few of the threads about it and using the search button because as with all these things, there's always a risk it'll brick
After a quick search this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1267345&highlight=ruu has a link to the ruu you might want, then just ota update it.
Brilliant. Sounds good enough.
Also, how can I change the splash screen of the phone? Hate the "3" Logo coming up when I restart the phone.

Good good. Like I said though, most people seem to just send it back and they'll do it for you
I'm not positive you can, I've never seen any thread saying how to get rid of it. You can have a nice boot animation though from uot (google "uot kitchen")
Here is a link on changing the bootsplash. Its fairly easy to make one yourself, or you can ask one to be made for you. Their are quite a few posted you might find one you like

Hey guys.
Tonight I rooted my phone with the hopes of everything going smooth, it didn't. It was a nightmare rooting the phone itself.
I was trying to install TWRP recovery through Goomanager but that didn't work so I did it through fast boot and terminal emulator with the commands.
After it was done I rebooted my phone and it just went to a black screen with the blue notification light. Then the phone turned off. I can't turn it on at all nor can I get it to go into download mode.
I recently just got this phone, one week ago to be exact, as an early Christmas present and I haven't really even been able to enjoy the phone because I've had the flu. I just now recovered from it and this happens.
I am in a insanely bad situation.
Is there anything at all I can do? Please help me...

In these situations its best to provide as much information as possible. What was your Baseband? MDL? MF3? if you have no idea what any of this means....then you shouldn't be trying to flash anything on your phone, atleast not until after doing a ton of research. Your best bet is to try and get it into download mode and ODIN back to a stock image. If you can't get into download mode then unfortunately there isn't much you can do. You can try going to a best buy and see if they can flash it for you. You should know that if you're on MF3 you CANNOT flash a custom recovery other than SafeStrap. Hope some if this helps.
This phone is super special with special needs.if you can get it into DL mode than SEARCH for the Odin files that are floating around here.this phone will teach you how to read again

If the phone is new like you said, its a good chance the model is MF3. The custom recovery you installed doesnt work for that model which more than likely cased or helped cause your issue. If you dont know the model and your phone won't turn on...the model number is listed on the box (assuming you still have it).
The TC mentioned he can't obtain DL mode so I'm not sure how the using odin will help him since it won't recognize his phone. I'd try best buy and go from there. If you try to have it warrentied while pleading the "I dont know what happened" card to your carrier...just be warned, if they replace it and find out it was rooted or messed with than they will charge your account the full retail cost. I've had many phones replace via manufacturers warranty and that is the first thing they tell me. It can even be an issue if the screen has a tiny scratch. Hope it works out.

He he can't turn it on best buy isn't going to help either. No one will be able to tell it's rooted either. Just take it back to where you got it and tell them it won't turn on. If it does turn on then you can Odin it.

Pull the battery and wait a minute. Then replace it and see if you can use the correct key combo to get into recovery. If you fix it or get it replaced I suggest you do a lot of reading and learning before doing anything else. Good luck.
Bricked Galaxy S4
