Hey , I have a SGH Samsung Galaxy Express i437 and its unlocked !! I live in India and want to update it to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean !! I can root my phone for it but also wanted to know if the Jelly Bean Update was good or not !! Please help me out to either downloading the ota update somehow , or by using odin or anything else ! Thanks

Someone will make a full stock nandroid, when they do you should be able to load that.

The update is not official according to samsung you will only be able to get ota from att only if you have not deleted any system apps.

Yes I haven't deleted any of the apps ! Not even rooted the phone ! But whenever I go to Software Update , It says Communication Failed and also says that it will check for updates in next 48hrs ! But after I again open the Software Update , It says that the Phone is UpTo Date !! Got any solution to it ?

Actually I use XDA with the Pantech Burst ! I wanted to first update my phone and then put apps on it as I cant put apps onto it again and again !!

What it seems like is that the update may not be available for your region. The only thing you could do is call att and see if they will push the update to your device or wait for a someone to make a system image.

i tried using it. it didn't work. any other way around. its just a 12mb update. i don't want to download whole rom for that. please help.

If you dont have Custom Recovery (CWM/TWRP) then you can simply download and instal the update zip package through stock recovery. If you can't download because of modified system settings then use TA to make it official
Do u mean Triangle away? If yes then that also does not help. It downloads the file but fails to update. Any work around on this?

Yup, I mean Triangle Away. The update shall be downloaded but the update zip can only be flashed through stock recovery. AFAIK entering into CWM immediately modifies your system settings to Custom and update zip wont load on a modified system. I am not sure whether you can flash stock recovery through CWM.
Hmmm... I went back to stock to get the updates.

Hi.
Kitkat 4.4 is not available yet as currently Samsung just release is 4.3.
So, u will not expect 4.4 soon.
U have been answered before on yr other thread.

you can update to kitkat but for that wait for it
also if you have rooted then you can try ota root keeper or have to flash 4.4 through odin when available
grab your ota's fast indian s3 (i9300) users..
the 4.3 update has gone live..
But the OTA Update isn't available yet.

and the update is only available on OTA and not on KIES

I checked on OTA right now, it says that the latest updates have already been installed
I am getting the update via kies but it will take a lot of timen i want OTA update

as i checked on sammobile
it shows only ota update is released in India and there is no kies update available yet
while i was flashing cm11 today it showed me the 4.3 update
but i denied that and rooted the phone and flashed cm11

even my frnd has not got it yet
i was stunned bcoz after so big wait i was frustrated and was going to root and flash cm11 and it showed up and started downloading
It's downloading right now through Kies, its about midway. Will report back how it goes.
Also, please use the 4.3 discussion thread and Indian S3 Owners thread. No need to make another thread!
EDIT: Flashed, works fine. Although it's taking a huge amount of internal storage, I think I'll do a factory reset.

I have been using Nightly 4.2.2 for a while now but seeing as 4.3 official is on its way I would like to flash back to 4.1.2 so I can OTA it.
This is going to work right?
Anyway I have been trying to find a GBR in this link, although when I bought TAB it would factory reset to Germany and I would simply change the language on setup....
Is there a GBR or do I need to go with a GER one, cant see either in this link

You can flash a stock firmware and receive OTA updates normally.

This was originally a Germany version although why should that matter it's still the same device?

Make sure the model is the same.
No matter the firmware, if the model is the same the firmware should work.
Try to reflash again.

You cannot update a rooted device via OTA - it'll download, but it won't install. You have to unroot to install it, and I don't even think it works. - Better flashing it via Odin, then re-rooting.
