Hi Guys,
I am on Roto JMI v2 and noticed that the battery consumption on Display is around 60-70% all the time even at minimum brightness and power saving mode. Is that normal? Help?
Cheers!
I am on stock and it's always on 83%, so you are better off. My guess is this reading shows the total battery consumption and not the current battery usage.
Normal. Same for me.
Hey thanks for the reply guys was really confused since read on xda a post where the guy mentions 20% usage on overcome rom

its not a bug, the display is what always eats the battery in devices.
Another thing that puzzles me is that whether I have the brightness at MINIMUM or I have it around 35%, the phone still showed the same %age of battery consumption. So does this mean irrespective of the level of brightness, it is going to consume that much of juice or increases with level of brightness (which is only logical) ?
Also, it seems my battery usage gauge is all messed up! Even after around 5 hrs on standby and intermittent usage, it showed 12 m 5 s. Very strange!
When you set the LCD brightness to minimum, current still run through it to operate, if not it will be totally blank (as in darkness). So, 35% is good enough.
My personal opinion, the battery status is always a bull, I'd never trust it, after experiencing so much battery issue prior to my upgrade. I would just enjoy the fun of owning the tab and when it's time to upgrade (to another tab), nothing else matter..............
So long as it kills my time (by playing games, listening to music, watching youtube), improve my efficiencies (by having the necessary apps), keeping in touch (emails, facebook, Skype, phone calls, etc) and most importantly, it is extremely portable. Other than that, I just charge it before I go to bed.
It serves my daily needs. I am happy.
Whenever I check my battery status, my display is always at 45%. Is this normal? I still get good battery life, I think. For example, I been unplugged for 6h and 18m and I'm just at 70% battery remaining.
I don't know what to tell you; if you aren't doing a lot of CPU intensive tasks, the battery should bbe good for hours.

that's kinda strange, not cuz you are always stuck but because you are showing 45%. I thought the atrix only measures by 10s.

That is exactly what I was thinking. I've never seen anything but increments of 10%.
No....I'm not talking about my battery percentage, I'm talking about my display percentage. Its always the higher of the four...wifi, phone idle and cell standby is always low, like in the single digits low. But the display is always high. Like for example I woke up this morning, checked what was consuming battery and the display was at 65%. If the phone was sleep for the past 4-5 hours thus the display not being on, the display shouldn't be consuming that much battery, so I thought.
I still get great battery life. Im just wondering if anyone else display is also consuming a lot battery and what could be causing it.
A-A-A-Atrix!

Ahhh, ok. I get what you mean now. This is normal for most Android phones with large (4" or bigger), bright screens. As long as you are getting good battery life you are fine. I'm assuming you keep your brightness set to automatic?

Considering you are getting good battery life and your display has that high of a percentage after "sleeping" that long is a good thing. That just means the other processes are running efficiently. You should always expect the Display to take up at least 60% of your battery, especially after a full cycle. What really matters is actual runtime.

Ok...thanks. I was just wondering.
Hello,
I used CPU spy to see if the phone went to deep sleep during the night and after wake up I saw that from the 7 hours, 4 hours it was in deep sleep and the other 3 hours it stayed at 300 MHz.
Is this normal? The night before I didn't charge the phone and it lost 9% in 7 hours during the night which I think is too much.
My phone isn't rooted so I can't find what is causing this, is there any way? Or any recommendation to fix this? The battery is pretty good but this is still annoying.
BTW I have 3G and WIFI always on, but no BT, no locations, no google search, google+, etc. activated and the Power Management settings doesn't show any drainning app at any time.
Thanks in advance.

For me the battery during idle seems to vary. I have seen it deplete at around 1% an hour or 2-3% for an entire 6-7 hour night. My guess is that it is based on my usage before bed. On some nights i might've used an app that triggered a wakelock and other times not.
I am heavily into homescreen customization (and rooting-however not for this phone yet, without the exploit) and have widgets and animations everywhere. (like the homescreens you would find on mycolorscreen). I also have a good amount of apps. The potential for a wakelock is certainly there. Considering those 2 factors i would say the battery for this phone is extremely solid compared to any devices i've used in the past.
I have also had instances where if i am at a meeting or doing an activity and don't touch my phone for several of hours the battery life stayed at the same percentage or only dropped 1%. So the phone does indeed go into deep sleep.
Overall, i don't think the standby time is bad enough for me to complain or investigate.

Yes I see what you are saying, the phone doesn't always behaves the same way.
I just don't like the thought of some app draining my battery for no reason, maybe it's the e-mail account. I can't complain aswell, I got 2 days of battery with 6.45h SOT this weekend I guess that's great, 9% during the night was too much though.

If it was a one time occurrence I wouldn't worry about. If it is 10% every night then I would look into it

I had battery drain of about 4-5% overnight at first, but after going through all the apps and disabling any parasitic menu options (like phone-home data logging), setting Wi-fi to turn off during sleep, disabling app syncing overnight and disabling or uninstalling unwanted apps installed by Sony, I'm down to about 1-2% drain overnight, which is about as good as it gets. And that's without Stamina enabled -- I set that to kick in only when the battery is below 50%.
I left the device on 100% and go to sleep.
When I woke up I see 95% so I check the better battery stats and saw that the phone was in deep sleep all the time just minute and half was a wake.
It say the the mobile standby make it.
I think it too much if the device was sleeping
What do you think? I have a problem with my battery?
no, i guess not because i have arond 4 % loss over night in 8-9 hours. mobile signal strenght is also an issue if you have bad reception. but i guess the drain is normal. nothing to worry about. Are you stock or custom? I am on weta with naptime en greenify.
Unless it's a signal issue that does seem high. I get 1-2% over 6-7 hours over night. I'm not using anything like greenify or naptime either. I get that on Stock 7.0 and on Pure Nexus 7.

5% over a whole night and you think there is something wrong with your battery? Assuming that is 6-8 hours I'm not sure why you are worried. It is still on and, thus draining. So, if you let it for 24 hours 15% seems high to you?

No, it doesn't. Everyone has different setups, and <1% an hour is not high battery drain.

My thought exactly.
Sound just fine to me.
less than 1% an hour is a sound result.
I WOULD KILL for that kind of idle battery life. I HOPEFULLY get my 6p Thursday. I am on the S5 now running MM and sitting at my desk I get 5% or more per hour drain if I am lucky. right now, if I am not on it much, 10% per hour.

Hmm, doing nothing with phone it was 1% every 4 hours on stock. With PN7 its like 1% every 4 hours. This is with about 35 apps installed or no extra apps installed. So if you're seeing about 5% loss overnight for about 6-8 hours, it seems to me your phone isn't deep sleeping very well, cause that means there is a lot of stuff still working in the background. Like i said, unless there is poor signal.
Again this is based on what i see on stock and PN7.

After being on Android since Gingerbread and using Sammy and Nexus devices, while doze in MM and N has brought a lot of improvements in sleeping battery drain, I'd say that 2% over an entire night is unusually low.
Also, many folks do different things to their phones overnight. If you leave it 'on' but turn off your radios and turn on total silence as opposed to just letting it go to deep sleep but leaving everything 'on', you'll see significant differences in drain.
I'd still just look at 24 hours of no use, doze drainage and if you only got 15% drain that would translate to roughly 7 full days of standby. That's pretty good. In your scenario, 3-6% drain over 24 hours of standby/doze is pretty much unheard of. I'm not aware of any phones that typically give users 17-33 days of standby

I've been on android only and since the droid X days which was Froyo myself.
My phone is exactly the same overnight as during the day. I rarely ever use WiFi since I'm on TMobile. My phone has to be fully available to me since I'm an IT Admin and that means I'm on call site security reasons 24/7. To me getting 5% a night would be making me search through my phone to find three cause LoL
Im not too sure what setting i changed on mine but when i wake up after 7 hours i'm sitting at 99%
When you sleep, does your phone sleep, or does it stay up all night and crunch 1s and 0s? Considering the total capacity of the battery, that strikes me as a bigger drop than I'd be used to, particularly with a virtually brand new battery - anyone else?

I've never owned a phone running MIUI but I understand it has pretty aggressive power management (shutting down services and relaunching them when they're needed, rather than just letting Android's power management do its thing in letting them sleep). Wondering if battery drain might be a MIUI-thang?
Does anyone have any first hand experience to improve on my rumour-based speculation?

That's a weird battery graph you have there. Even though screen was off, somehow you phone was awake non stop without a break.
Below is my battery graph. When screen is off, 99% time phone won't be awake. But I don't know much about that stuff.

In the image below it can be seen that that the battery drain is present only when I keep the WiFi on.

I'm also getting quite high battery drain at night (around 13%), I have really few apps installed and I tried closing all the apps in memory before going to bed. I haven't tried turning wifi off but that shouldn't be the issue in a modern phone. I hope it gets fixed in an OTA. Otherwise battery life is great.
I tried factory resetting the phone but the problem persists.Ill post the usage when I have used it for some time.
I noticed another thing that this problem is only present for specific WiFis. It works just fine for other networks and also in the networks where the problem is present there is a constant network traffic of about 20-30kbps

Don't think there's going to be any OTA for that. Only few people facing the issue. I get like 4% drain over 12 hours and I'm sure that's due to random notifications waking my phone during sleep. Thats normal.
Nobody tried BetterBatteryStats? It should show what is draining the battery.

I too have this issue, my battery drained 20% with the screen off + WiFi ON for 7 hours. My graph was almost the same as yours, even though the screen was OFF my system was awake.
Today I checked the same by turning OFF WiFi, there was only 2% drain.

0.5 percent/hour in case WIFI is off
1-2 percent/ hour if wifi is on
In case of poor network reception 2.5-3 percent/ hour with wifi turned on
2% to 5% drainage at night.
The battery drains 2% to 5% at night. Well yeah , it doesn't makes sense while the battery is 4000 mAh , I tried removing background app but still something sucks the battery. I'm new to MIUI , might be the case with this operating system or is it due to always on fingerprint sensor?? I would like to disable that feature because I am I'm love with face unlock. In last few days i am observing, my battery drained max 2-3% in any given night.
I kill all apps from recent menu before goin to sleep. I never turn off WiFi.
I feel its quite impressive for my usage. Lasts me whole day with 20-30% remaining. I get SOT of min 7hrs before battery hitting 10%.
If anyone of you facing major battery drain, try using battery saver. It turns off sync, turns off gps/location. You can even schedule it if you want.
In my case with battery saver on, my general usage is unaffected. Bettery lasts 15-20% more. I even play PUBG at full settings with bettery saver on and it doesn't drop a single frame.
