Why Does the 3g data usage drain so much battery? - Oppo Find 5

I'm sure I'm not the only one who's notice this, But when ever I use the my 3g data to download or stream music the drain is enormous. Even when I'm plug into a wall outlet their is still a drain (While downloading). Never had this issue with my previous phone. Its so bad I refuse to listen to Pandora on my bus rides to school for fear I'll lose 20% of my battery in 30min. Is it a kernel issue or what? Just curious.

Yes, that's right...
Always waiting to fix that problem from developers

try doing a cache/dalvik wipe, or a full wipe and reinstall
on CM10.1, my phone loses ~10% per hour when listening to TuneIn Radio (online streaming), phone is "off" (i.e. no display usage)
Battery Monitor Widget estimates 10 hours of online streaming....
how are other "typical" phones' online streaming battery life? (iPhone 5, S4, S3, ...). Tried searching, but couldn't fun any "hard" statistics.... see people complaining about the iPhone 5 lasting 10 hours on streaming music and mention it's worse than the iPhone 4(and blame it on LTE)

Nexus S kills the batteries

Hello
My friend have a Nexus S (9020A) the problem is when the battery dies it's impossible to charge the phone, it won't turn on! I have tried with a lot of batteries now and it kills all of them! it works like normal when you don't let the battery die completely but it should not do this anyway, what is wrong?
I think I know what your talking about.
The phone consumes more power than it receives when its using data. Do if your at 5% and charging, but also using the internet. You will last for mere minutes.
Best thing to do is to simply let it charge and not touch it when its doing so. You can still hotspot, text talk. But streaming music, data apps (like tapatalk or skype) and web browser WILL KILL YOUR BATTERY WHILE YOU CHARGE.
But if your saying it won't charge. Sorry. No idea

What? That's just nonsense.
If you turn the phone off and then try to charge it with the battery in, you're not able to charge it?

no, the phone kills the batteries, I would have test the batteries on other phone if I had, but atm I just have the Nexus S, it won't let me charge the batteries when they are dead.. if there is 1% left I can charge but when it dies it's dead forever... there must be something wrong with the phone, right?

don't work.. when battery have some % left the phone works like normal... but if I let it die, then it's dead.. I can't even turn on the phone, it's like there is no battery inserted.
The phone should shut down automatically when the voltage reaches a certain threshold. Is the phone not doing this? These batteries are not meant to drop below a certain voltage and doing so could damage them.

This is so insanely inaccurate. Using the hotspot is one of the most battery intensive operations the phone can carry out. Streaming music, Skype, and browsing don't even hold a candle to it. The only thing that comes close would be navigation (and that can be even worse sometimes), followed by talking on the phone by a pretty decent, but not massive margin. It also depends on the charger. Where do you get your information?
Sent from my PG41200 using Tapatalk
if the phone is doing the same with all type of ROMS, then it may be hardware related issue.
I have been running various Roms since the start but never faced this issue. A lot of times battery has drained fully. With some of the new roms that are there my phone lasts more than a day with Data on Roaming full time.
I know most phone batteries will not be chargeable if you deplete them completely. Usually this happens by throwin it in the drawer and not using it for a long time but ive never heard of it happening just by using the phone. Id say its definitely a hardware issue

Camping and battery life

Hello all. I am going camping for 5 days and I was wondering how I can get the best battery life out of my phone on 1 charge. (I won't have any electricity for 5 days)
I am currently using cnote's port of ice cold sandwich Rossi edition. I will be only using my phone for playing music and taking pictures. The phone will be in airplane mode for 5 days.
My question is if its good to idle it for 5 days in airplane mode or shut it down if it won't be used for more than 5 hours? Does it require more power when booting or does it consume less battery power when idling?
Thanks in advance.

The Indian's recommendation is good.
I would shut it off at night. Airplane mode will save LOTS of juice, but nothing saves power like being off for hours. Lol.
You might also consider one of those portable external chargers. They're pretty cheap.

They have campsites with wi-fi? Daaaamn. I've got to find one of those.
Sorry for being brief, if you only need it for 5 hours of just listening to music and reading ebooks, any rom other than sense 4 and stock will serve you well. Underclock so CPU max is 700ish (thats all you need) and turn it off completely if you aren't using it. I also recommend buying an external battery from amazon. Anker makes nice big ones of like $20

Pretty much anything non-sense by TDJ. I swear everything I've gotten at least 3 days with use on every one of his roms/kernels.
I've even gotten 2 days on DARKSIDE sense. But it's always a good idea to keep an external charger if you're going to be gone for a while. Whenever I go on a business trip, even though I know that there will be available outlets, I always keep an external charger in case anything happens. Plus, it's always nice to not have to stick around a wall when you're charging your phone and have to use it at the same time.

Bad battery life.

I used to get 6 hrs on my 8gb.

When you restore your phone, are you restoring all the apps? One bad app is all it takes. you should reset to stock, and not install any apps. Then when you see that it runs ok, install one at a time as you test.

Keep in mind there are lots of variables at work.
Wifi vs. Cell data - Turn on Wifi and battery usage goes down a LOT - if you are in a wifi area all the time. Cellular data is a battery pig.
Weak signal area - another battery pig - i have had phones drain in 8 hours doing nothing if i had poor reception
Usage mix - Your 2.5 hours of screen time, could be good if you have screen at high brightness and are streaming cellular data (movie) and if you are also syncing email, facebook, and everything else in the background.
If you do all your data by Cellular, then 4 hours of screen time will probably be your limit. It is hard to tell if you have a wake lock issue or not, as we don't know anything else about your usage, apps that are frozen, gestures on/off, etc.

That happened to me once or twice. These spikes are only visible on the battery graph in settings app. I use an alternative battery monitor app from Google play and it does not show any spikes. Also battery life seems pretty in line with what other people report. I simply ignore them since they do not seem to affect battery life.
Could it be caused by the wireless charging functionality being triggered by other electronic devices in house?
I saw the same problem in the G+ community there, but it's Gelexy Nexus which updated to Android 4.3 recently

My Nexus 7 (2013) is having the same problem with battery graph. There are about 2-3 spikes to 100% in every discharge cycle.
I noticed this problem has been reported in different cycles, but no one seems to be able to give a definite answer of what the source of this problem is.
BTW, after a reset to factory settings, the problem still persists.
