[Splash Screen] Nexus 4 boot screen - Desire Themes and Apps

Check out this cool nexus bootscreen that I didnot make myslef, but found in my downloads directory on PC..... Don't know why or where I downloaded it from, but it looks cool on my HTC Desire, with a complete Nexus-ish look. Works on all ROMs. Just be sure that you're rooted and S-Off.
Paste it in the /system/media directory. Overwrite your default one.
But do make a copy of the old one + a nandroid backup, cuz if it doesn't work on your phone, then don't complain to me.
Bound to work on 4.xx.xx ROMs....

can anyone confirm that it works on GB ROMs....

Yeah I know that, but since I've never tried it on ROMs below ICS, I just wanted to confirm that it works, cuz it has got 3 animation parts, while most GB ROMs support only 2 parts...

Every bootanimation works on all ROMS. exept if you have different screenresolution.

No, that one didn't work on GB ROM. It only works on ICS and JB ROMs.

Absolutely love this! Thanks a lot!

heres exactly how i got it to work. it could be cos you typed resources instead of resource or it could be because you didnt put the / thats caused me probs in the past
(in recovery)
adb shell mount /system
adb push bootanimation.zip /system/customize/resource/
adb reboot
Very nice indeed Worked like a charm, thank you !

I'm glad you guys like it. There's more boot animations on the way
Nice one! Works perfectly (and smooth!) and looks great, would make a cool live wallpaper too!
BTW, in the video it looks like you got rid of the horrible white background with HTC logo boot image, if so how?
Look forward to your new boot animations. Cheers!

Should work by pushing it to /data/local if your ROM has sym linked it. Easiest way to install boot animations is using Root Explorer, it's just a quick copy&paste and your done.

you need bootsamsung.qmg and bootsamsungloop.qmg that go in system/media and the shutdown folder that goes in system/media/video
you should be able to pull them out of a stock ROM in the dev section
You can dl any rom including stock 2.1 and pull the animation from it by extracting the .zip
It's in system/media
Replace into rom you want to use and flash away

Those are all stock ROMs.
All will have the stock bootanimaton in them.
TRUE!!!!!!11
Really....because the majority of those ROMs were modified to use the bootanimation.zip. If you read the first one for instance it clearly says "annoying pink animation & shutdown removed" because Team Whiskey removes the .qmg files & the shutdown and replaces it with a bootanimation.zip. The only ones you will get the .qmp files from are ones that are untouched "STOCK" (odex or deodexed) because they don't use a bootanimation.zip they use the .qmg
Maybe you should read a little closer huh

It's attitudes like yours that prohibit people from going out of thier way to provide things.
Like boot animations.

viper rom boot animation

There is a rom for the epic called viper that has a sweet boot up/down animation, does anyone know how to dowenload this animation on to a rooted evo usinbg cm6.1.1?
You need to download the rom and copy out the bootanimation.zip which should be in /system/customize/resource or /system/media/. Then use ADB or something like Root Explorer to replace the your current bootanimation.zip. I dont think sound will work with CM6 though.
thanks for the info, would you happen to know of a nice bare bones rom that would allow the sound?
Post it up if you make it happen I would like to check it out.
dglowe343 you are correct the audio doesnt work, i need to find a rom that supports bootanimation audio and is a barebones rom, i love cm6 but this is a feature i'd really like to get....HELP!
What feature does this boot screen have? Its a pre scripted animation

Worth mentioning..
For a client, They wanted the ViperROM boot animation, boot sound, and phone sounds.
I extracted everything but the boot animation sound.. solely because I cant find it, but the boot animation works fine when used with Boot Animation Changer Lite, download any animation, and then stock.
Then goto the SDcard, and replace the bootanim\stock bootanimation.zip file with the one extracted.
Went back into app, and flashed what it thought was the stock animation, and boom. all worked fine.
hope that helps someone

I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure that any rom that stores the bootanimation in system/media, which I believe is all aosp roms, the bootanimation sound will not work. Only roms that store the animation in system/customize/resource will allow for sound on the bootanimation. Which is where its located on most sense roms. Again, I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure that's how it works.

Proper Galaxy S2 CRT off/on Animation (not white screen)

As seen here a video by whitehawkx: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=szyp00_EvSU
The SSG2 Epic 4G Touch has proper CRT off/on capability. Not a white screen flash; it actually warps and colour separates the screen before performing a vertical compression. The ROM seen in the video has enabled the CRT features using the same functionality that JKay provides for us on the non-4G version.
When we enable it on our phones, we get a full white screen and then vertical compression only.
I copied the surfaceflinger modules from a stock Epic 4G ROM to a KK5 ROM, and CRT on and off performs the vertical compression on an INVERTED IMAGE. I suppose this is something to do with hardware differences between the devices but I am unsure how to investigate this further.
Any thoughts?
I've attached a cwm update that replaces the libsurfaceflinger modules in /system/lib. This will require root and clockworkmod recovery. I applied this to CheckROM RevoHD v4 (KK5 2.3.6), but I expect it to work for most current rooted ROMs. Please perform a full backup from recovery before you apply.
Looks like this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1362354, is on the same track. The live screen rotation is also enabled. I checked the Epic 4G libsurfaceflinger modules and it seem they are of the exact same size as the ones taken from the Galaxy Note in that thread. I guess they are the same modules used. Doesn't really help though does it
Could you please perhaps create a zip to restore the files as they were? Seems far more sensible than restoring a full backup from 5mins before

Waiting or this also to be integrated. The solutions now are not really good.

If you look closely, when you turn off the screen, it will flip vertically first. The rotation effect is great, but we are looking for a perfectly working CRT effect that doesn't flip vertically.
The other thread about the 'rotation mod' is simply the same as what I have done here as the functionality for the rotation is in the same files at the CRT effect, except they have copied the two files from the Galaxy Note. I have copied them from the Epic 4G Touch, but it seems they are the same as the files from the Galaxy Note.
I was thinking about making such a thread. Nice, I totally agree. Looks like we are very close to fixing that CRT animation for good.
The Epic 4G Touch also has a Exynos processor right? The only difference is a larger screen. Why would it work good with that device and not with the S II?
Nice to bring this into the light.
Please some developers fix the mirrored CRT
It isn't that bad, it's more decent than the one in CM anyway
Great

I think we should stick to a Samsung based ROM here, are you using a Sammy ROM? KI, KJ, KK, or is it CM7 based?
If you are on KK5 that's strange, but don't worry I've definitely seen that before. I have a feeling that on this device, older CWM versions handle the updater-script differently, and don't automatically set file permissions on files that were copied, or they don't mount the system partition properly. As far as using root explorer goes, that worked for me but I had to make sure that I applied rw-r--r-- permissions to both libsurfaceflinger.so and libsurfaceflinger_client.so after you copy them to /system/lib.

I tried creating an updater-script that backs up the current files to the sdcard and another that restores them using busybox commands, (just for fun), but it didn't work properly. Anyone had success with this?
Anyway, I have attached a cwm update that installs the original files from the XWKK5 2.3.6 build. See attachment below.

You need root to write to /system, so you would need to flash a kernel that gives you root. So a rooted stock ROM, yes, but not an untouched stock ROM.

Please do a full backup first in cwm recovery in case you can't boot. See this great guide - 5. ClockWorkMod - How to Backup/NANDroid (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1125282)

Boot Animation Help

Hi guys.
I Just got a verizon g2 a week ago and I am trying to change the boot animation to an android L animation which I just found but it doesn't show past what's in the "part2" folder. In other words, it doesn't reach the part where the four dots turn into the word "android". This also happened with an android L boot animation which I found earlier from xda (which I think is the same). This is the link http://www.hotmodinc.com/2014/07/Android-L-Boot-Animation.html. Any help is appreciated. I have a stock rooted rom.
just tried it... seems ok, it only holds a black screen a bit longer after animation finishes...
did you download 1080x1920 size version?

afaik, bootloader (locked/unlocked) doesn't have anything to do with bootanimation...
if your device is rooted and you have access to system files which you can modify and change their permissions - you can change the bootanimation too...
btw i still don't know what is the problem with yours... can you maybe somehow (with some other device or smtn) record a video of your device booting?

and one other thing to consider as well - maybe your device just boots up faster so the animation can't get all the way to the end
i.e. mine boots in about 30secs (cloudy g3 v2.1, dorimanx kernel, dalvik runtime)

also - see the posts below that one, i've posted a "bootanimation" file from "optimus g3" rom's "system/bin" folder for download...
and make sure you give it the proper permissions as described in that post (because they're not standard 644 ones - rw-r-r but -rwxr-xr-x
thanks to @daw41 for solving the mystery

Thanks alot! I have no custom recovery though as I heard you can't get OTA updates if you have one. Could this get me in a bootloop?
