Hey there guys,
A long long time since I've been on the Samsung side of things, however I have a question/need advice. < That's why it's filed here and not under 'Question' because I believe this info to also be general too :victory:
Anyway it's my Dads birthday in a few days and I was just wondering what Bluetooth headset do you recommend, what works best with the GNII? It needs to be simple, as my Dad isn't exactly the most technical person in the world, and I wasn't really looking to spend more than £50. Also could anyone reccomend any in-car holders?
Might just buy a new car with Bluetooth built in :highfive:
Thanks guys
I've owned dozens of them over the years, and here are my 2 picks, mono, and stereo
mono-- bose bt2.....most expensive, but nothing even comes close for sound and comfort
stereo- Jaybird Blubuds---fantastic fit, and awesom sound, stays put even during workouts..
always check around for lowest pricing, and, most stores will match online retailers pricing..
Good luck deciding!

I had people asking me what kind of phone it is, or who made it, and I never heard of it. Some even question who is the provider and so on. A couple of time, I answered that it's not just a phone, it's a Pocket PC. Even then they don't know what Pocket PC is. They ask if it's Palm.
Of course, that's when I told them, it's more powerful, I can watch full 2 hours+ movie in this, browse the internet with IE. One person was so awe about this device, he's willing to pay premium for it and he works in a Cellphone place.
It really tickles me how I have to explain about this device and seeing their face changes as I explain the things I can do by showing them. It doesn't even look like a phone.
I want to hear what people say about the XDA II or similar device that's not available in the U.S. Maybe you guys wants to share? Or even places where XDA II or similar device isn't available in that country.
Yeah, that's been my experience too. It's even worse now with the XDA II and a Bluetooth headset. I guess I'm kinda used to it, since I had an Apple Newton since they were released. Handhelds just didn't exist at all then, so it was a real attention-grabber.
Even helped with dates. If a lady of appropriate specifications asked about how it worked, I'd pop open a "new contact" form and let her have a go. Usually I'd get a knowing smirk and a number.
If you think it's like that in the US, you would have fallen on the floor laughing if you were with me in Mexico when I tried to get a prepaid SIM for it. They were asking what phone it was for, and didn't understand "Pocket PC," so I pulled it out to show them. Well, I may as well have pulled a wiggling baby alien out of my pocket and thrust it at them, judging by their reaction and wide eyes.
Since I use my XDA for just about everything, I get questions from people in all facets of business. I've used it on-the-spot to check car ratings and comparitive prices while standing in front of the salesman. He was rather taken aback, as he lost his ability to bull**** me. I used it while looking for a house for a recent move. Got the agent hooked on the idea, she said she was going to buy one. I keep my shopping list on it and occasionally look up nutritional info while in the store (I'm diabetic, have to watch some things). Speaking of that, I track blood sugar vs. sugar intake, as well as other dietary info to help me understand my needs. Other people with dietary needs are amazed at how it simplifies life. I track the cars and motorcycle with it. TV shows. And on and on. It seems that no matter what I do, I'm using my XDA to do it, so it gets a lot of exposure.
In Washington DC where I'm going to school they sell the Siemens SX56 (xda I) and the MDA I and MDA II at TMobile... but yah generally people look at my phone and go wtf is that
They are obviously common in the UK then as noone seems to take a second look at it when i'm using mine,
I see at least 4 or 5 people every day with XDA2's on the train into london in the mornings and it not the same people either!,
most people seem to just hold it to their head to talk on it, but i think it much easier to use a bluetooth headset with it
tmobile and o2 are not present around here but the 2 mayor cellphone company offer the qtek series but mainly to companies
and orange sell their m1000 even see them in comercials but thats with tomtom and i doubt many people know it's a gsm phone aswell
suppose xda series are less known in us because they are not cma or 550Ghz
but mda3 / qtek9090 comes in both versions
I was looking for XDA II or something similar to it here in T-Mobile shop but come to a disppointed conclusion. There seem to be selling it on the East Coast rather than West Coast. T-Mobile specified they carry it, but when I looked for it, it's not available and the sales person were like, is that a phone? How come there's no antenna.
A couple of times when I took my phone out to make a phone call, people just look at it as a pda. Not until I got a phone call while doodling with it when they realize it's a phone too.
My co-worker was making fun of it saying, phones are getting smaller and here he is carrying a brick. Haha. So it's a multi-function brick, small phones can't do what this thing can do. I love it. Thanks for sharing guys. Great story.
nokias havent had antennas for ages
if they carry it on the other cost cant you just order it online rather then go to a shop where they would not know a pocketpc if it attacked and eate them and everybody they knew ?
recall when the first xda1 version i heard off came out which was the siemens 56 whatever it was only in the us and it took a few of months to reach here of cause maybe tmobile and o2 had them before i dont know
got the 02 xda mini s and have problems with the signal, both recived and sent conversations are poor in the house but do get a bit beeter at the main window. do they suffer from poor reception problems as i have not had any problem on any other phone at all, and i have used and owned about 6 in this house. inc sony 750i and nokis etc.

I find the speaker call quality not to be the best on the Mini S but general call quality and reception is fine for me, mainly using my Mini S on Vodafone right now as O2 reception is weaker in my area.
john
well i have just talked to 3 people and they all say that i am bracking up. so looks like i may well get rid and get the sony 910i not that i whant it.
How do you find O2 reception in general in your area with other phones?
The Wizard is an interesting device but as a phone it's definitely weaker than the P9xx series, just upgraded from a P900 myself.
John
as i said the wizard has bad reception in the 3 call i made from the house, i have never ever had a problem in the town were i live let alone from the house, rang a m8 back on a sony 550i i have as well and he said it was just like a landline very clear but the wizard was terible. oh read some said its a pda not a phone so dont expect it to be as good, then why call it it a phone pda when its not. at least mine an't.
which do u like the wizard and what would u have the sony p900 or the wizard.
just to let u know, took the phone back to 02 this morning and tried another one, total differance, the new one is miles better. thanks for ur help. hope it may continue.
That's good you got it sorted, something definitely sounded wrong there.
My feelings are fairly mixed about the P900 vs the Wizard, obviously the Wizard is newer, has better resolution, wi-fi etc. but as a phone/PDA combination device, the P900 was definitely a lot better. Even just for simple things like setting an alarm, plus I didn't need to soft reset it fairly regularly.
I have my fingers crossed for the P990i but with the delays already it's not looking great.
John
well i thought it worked, its bloody bad as well, thats it, both in the sin bin and get a seperat pda and phone, at least that should work out.
i thought about the sony 910i but it is big and and wizard would have been better, but i just canot put up with hissing and brackup on the phone, my m8 say it sounds like i have a hanki on my mouth, and the signal keeps droping. :x :x , oh i have already shelled out over 150 notes on gps and mount, as u can tell it not looking good.
don't get yer hopes up with sony p900-910-990. in my experience, all converged devices make concessions with gadgetry inside due to size, cost and engineering, and so they are jacks of all trades, but rarely are masters at any.
you still can't beat the nokia 6310i for reception and quality, but i am using my wizard as a phone for convenience's sake.
joe
I found the P900 to be an excellent balance between phone and PDA, if the P990 can manage a similar balance with its more modern feature set then I'll be picking one up.
John
Hey everyone,
I'm so sad to sell my the Ameo however I really don't want to spend more time on it. For me it got 3 probs:
1. Too complicated therefore too time consuming...
2. Marvelous therefore too attractive...
3. Need a bit cash...
I'm not sure about how much I need, yet hopefully I believe those who love it gotta make a good deal, right? Anyway, my reserve price is around 360 pounds which I believe is Ok...BTW, swap with nokia Communicator, N95 is welcoming. Yet you have to add cash definitely!
Boxed and everything's with it except the wired earphone since it's useless for me and I can't find it anywhere...
I'm really busy therefore, plz contact me via 077 3331 8968 and I need to sell it this week, cash on collection only in London.
Cheers!
In January I started having problems with sound on my epic. The only way I could make calls is through wired headphones and mic. Bluetooth is screwed. I bought a new LG optimus f7 and I am very happy. The Epic is flashed over through Boost Mobil through an incognito phone and has served me since it first came out. I bought it on a special through Radio Shack for 50 bucks and it turned out to be one of my best purchases. I want to thank you Devs for all the work you have done over the years and if any of you need it its yours. It includes the incognito for boost mobile and screen protector and cheap plastic hard case. Good Luck to you guys I enjoyed the interaction immensely. Unfortunately xda does not support my phone but phandroid does. Hope to see you guys around. I will check this and PMs every few days for replies. Please for DEVs only.
Hello all, I have been rocking the stock S8 ON AT&T for a few months, and I love it. The contours remind me of the old S3 and Note2, which I still own and hid them away. The one thing I hate about this phone is that I can not disable the audio EQ, so my bluetooth connection to my car has "dual eq's" because of this. I can't make it sound good to save my life. I tried other phones, like my old Moto g4 and it sounds great, even other phones. Is there a way to disable this? I am not sure if I want to root this device just yet, and I may just switch phones with my daughter and get my rooted Moto G4 back. Yes, it drives me soooo insane that I'm willing to trade my $800 dollar device for a less than $200 dollar device. Any help, or suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks all!
