Hi guys.
I'm currently running on this rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1639932 ; and have a problem with getting a GPS Connection.
I already tried two things. Manually editing the gps.conf file, and flashing this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=953630 for Europe.
My phone just doesn't connect to any sattelites. In GPS Test the GPS Status is just a yellow light saying GPS on, yet everywhere there are zeroes, 0 Accuracy, 0 Sattelites connected, it just doesn't seem to work at all.
Any solution?
bump.
Nothing in the topic guys? Is it that uncommon?
Same problem on latest tytung 4.2.2 nexushd2 ROM. Also tryed many solutions and none of them works.

I have no idea if this will work on your ROM so make sure you have good backups before trying..
You could try to inject AGPS data before using the GPS. Check out this post and read the "How to inject the AGPS data (xtra.bin)" and "How to verify if AGPS works or not" sections.
Good luck!

The most useless computer tasks are the most fun to do..
I had the same problem with tytung jb. I reflashed ics from scratch and tested gps. Gps was fine.
Then i installed jb without cleaning over ics, and gps kept working. Dont know why, but it worked for me.

The GPS for the LG GT540 is only supported for UK and US. As I live in New Zealand, it doesn't work for me unless I use the mod.
If you do live in those regions, see if it is receiving enough signal for it to make an assumption of the location. Wi-fi or cellular data makes the location more accurate.

It works for me, I live in Indonesia. I have compare the coordinate result between GT540 gps and field gps which was Garmin GPSMap and the result is quite good. In the format of Degree-Minute-Seconds, they're only slight different in 'seconds unit'.

I'm not talking about Google Maps, after install RC4 version the GPS doesn't work well. Only some times, in other forums I read that is for the CM7 version, I tried a lot of fixes, but some programs like runtastic or Google Maps don't work properly.
I'm searching for a fast solution to fix the problem.

So does the installation of RC4 reduce the accuracy or does it fully disable your access to GPS?

After a long time (1 day) with the mobile switched on the GPS doesn't work, with any app, google maps, gps status or runtastic, I wait for the GPS fix status but the GPS system doesn't detect any satellite. Only few times works properly.
When it doesn't work I need to make a long batch to make it work, switch GPS off, run "fasterboot", run "GPS fix", switch GPS on, reboot and try it again... after this process some times works, and some times not... so I need to repeat the process until it works and it's a desperate situation.
Any idea?

Do you have data assisted location on? Go to --> Settings --> Location and security and then check if 'Use wireless networks' is only on. GPS will work with that on but will be less accurate that the use of an actual GPS connection. Also try it with both 'Use wireless networks' and 'Use GPS satellites' (if not already) and then try it with only 'Use GPS satellites' (to see if it actually determines location from satellites.
My GPS module seems to be also [email protected]#d up :/

I know what are you talking about... but the problem is when i'm running with runtastic software or walking with navigation the accuracy is horrible! I need that the GPS works properly, is one thing really necessary for my hobbies and job.
It doesn't work from the SwiftDroid with CM7. I read in other forums that the problem comes with CM7, but the fixes only works well with another brands of mobile phones. I'm thinking about to change to the [AOSP][v4.1] Android 2.3.5 or downgrade the Mur4ik version...

I'm using the latest build of Swiftdroid and the accuracy is very good. The cause of this could be the location of the GPS and/or the current configuration.

I use it sometimes of the road or while walking. I use it about once a week, but the frequency can fluctuate. I use MapDroyd. It's free on the Android Market and you can use it offline with a downloadable map.
I haven't had any real problems with the GPS and 2.3.5 although it seems to get a bit jittery occasionally (sometimes jumping up to 3 miles away from the current location) and every now and the GPS seems to shut down and restart.
I use Sygic GPS Navigation but it also happens with Google Maps as well.
Do you have or had 'Use wireless network' on. It happens to mine too. It seems like the location of which it used a data connection on is first used and then the actual location by a GPS.

lol. Could be a super-secret version leaked from Google
On Google Navigation, GPS Essentials, GPS Status, it can never get a fix. Everything needed is enabled, tried multiple reboots, etc, still not working. Left it there for like a hour and after still no fix. GPS Essentials doesn't even see any satellites while trying to get a fix.
Any fixes for me or is this just a hardware issue?
Are you testing in a big open area? That's where I would test first. Is your 3G data working? With 3G data, it locks significantly faster than without it.
Tested in both outdoors and indoors by a window, doesn't even see 1 satellite.
3G data is enabled.
Might be a HW thing. Try flashing stock 2.3.4.
Hi , i had this problem but after several weeks and many searches this thread helped me to solve:

hope to help you too
Hmm, what exactly did you do? I've already cleared the Gps cache multiple times.

everything has expressed there...
Can you explain what you did step by step? In the other thread you just said how it just worked after a month...
Thanks,

it's definitely a hardware issue, have the same problems.
SNR values stay below 30! Insufficient to get a good fix.
Tested many gps fix apps, all not able to solve.
Fixed my problem by using an external Bluetooth GPS Antenna (old Nokia) and GPS Bluetooth app from the Market. Now GPS fix in seconds, SNR values above 40.. constant fix never looses signal etcetc...
Antenna on device is to weak!

Or, it might need the connectors for the gps aerial bending slightly, as they are made of a weak metal, and get pressed in over time in. There are several threads about it.
I did the fix on mine, and the gps works brilliantly now!
Hope this helps

Has anyone had this running on ICS i just cant get GPS to see it.
Yes, I'm running it on aurora 2.02. Some had problems in general with GPS location, and it can be fixed with GPS position fix app, like GPS Status & Toolbox from play store.
Also check the newest threads in development forum, you might find other useful suggestions.

Find the section with GPS FIXES and detailed instructions will be there. Hope that solves the GPS problem.
I have the same problem with other navigation apps from time to time. Inside the program drag down the status bar and disable and enable gps several times, this way it works for me.
You could flash the newest test version of Aurora (2.03), gps problems seem to be solved. See the development thread.
I can't confirm, as I haven't flashed yet the new version.

The newest build 2.04 still has NTPS server set to asia. Otherwise GPS works OK. If you get long time for GPS to connect, put the phone on some surface, because hands can block some signal reception.
Just flashed 2.04, looks good so far.
I just tried GPS in my room, agps data deleted and no data connection / wireless. Set the NTPS server to Germany with the app FasterGPS. Well, it took about 5 minutes to get a fix with 10 satellites but it works Tested with GPS Status, Osmand & Locus Pro
