Hey lucifer, did you get your shiz rooted yet? Make sure you have your phone set to debugging through SETTINGS>DEVELOPER OPTIONS>USB DEBUGGING. This would cause your bat to freeze the way you described, I do not believe your computer was the issue.
Also, are you using the motofail2go method to root? Depending how updated the zip package was that you downloaded, your 'su' and superuser.apk files may be bunk. If this is the case you will need to download the file HERE. Unzip it, pull out the 'su' file from XBIN and the 'superuser.apk' from SYSTEM. Then put both of these files into your motofail2go folder, replacing the two original files BEFORE running the .bat file. Then you should be good to go.
If you still can't get root, there is a newer root package exploit that you can try but try my suggested changes first. Cheers.

My way is still the motofail2go way, but you need to make sure both that debugging is enabled, and you need to replace the su and superuser.apk files in the motofail2go folder with the ones I linked.

I used this one:
http://www.droidrzr.com/index.php/topic/15208-root-motochopper-yet-another-android-root-exploit/
Made sure USB debugging was turned on.
Unzipped the folder.
Plugged phone in.
Ran "run.bat" as admin.
Rooted in about 30 seconds.
No app swapping needed

Ok people I'm pathetic.... I rooted using visionary installed titanium backup pro, astro, terminal emulator. I downloaded the root.rar files and put them onto the sd card. Unhooked my phone opened terminal typed su+enter but when I tried the sec command it wouldn't work I then went back into astro and h_boot and wpx are white in color and when I press on one of them it says file type ko not found. Can someone please please help me!!!! Do I have to have adb installed in order for the root.rar files to be found . Thank u very m much in advance. And if this is not the correct place to post this at let me know and I will move it thank u
Check out mackesters channel on YouTube he's got a good tutorial
Hey, you probably done all this... But thought I'd give a crack at it...
When trying to root using visionary
Quickly check these:
-did you have fastboot from >settings>applications turned off?
-was Set system r/w after root from visionary app checked?
-Temproot first
-Attempt permroot next
-Phone should reboot and you should see Super User app in the drawer.
Then follow the instructions here
If you wish to use root explorer to push the gfree file to /data/local you can do so too, its easier than adb commands.
Hope this helps. Good luck man.
Please post questions in the Q&A section.
Use root file explorer not Astro, check my signature. Also you said you downloaded the root.rar and placed it on sd, did you unzip it first?
Fastboot was off rw on. I don't know if I unzipped root.rar or not all I did was download it right click on it extracted to F drive moved to sd and in terminal is said not found our something when I entered the sec command.i did a factory reset so I'm starting fresh. What did I do wrong ? Thank u awesome people in advance
You sure you put the right file? Coz there are two gfree files...

I guess I used the right one but it says ko file not found or sh file not found etc so I don't know what I'm doing wrong its driving me insane it shouldn't be this hard. Thanks for everyone help I'm still trying and will not give up lol
Are you doing this in the phone or thru a pc via adb? If adb also copy the files from root.rar to sdk/tools then adb will see them

HTC Thunderbolt Windows One Click Root
This is a simple batch file that will guide you in rooting your device.
It is pretty easy to follow along but please take your time and read everything. It has only been tested a few times so please report any errors or issues you find.
Huge thanks to NetForce-TX on IRC for testing along with helping, I owe you!
Also thanks to Jcase for guidance
TeamAndIRC and Captainkrtek (Me) are NOT responsible for any bricks, fires, or damaged/broken hardware due to this process
If you wish to read the batch files contents either open it with notepad or check the pastebin
Instructions are included in the file when running it along with where to get the necessary files.
Prerequisites:
Drivers Installed & Working
SDK Installed with ADB
Exploits.zip with contents extracted to your ADB dir
PG05IMG.zip
Downgrade RUU
A Thunderbolt running 605.6 or 605.9 Firmware
You can download the OneClickRoot here
I will update this from time to time if needed, If you have issues with the batch file please PM me on XDA or find me on irc.andirc.net #Thunderbolt.
I will not reply to your PM if you want me to help you root your phone!
UPDATE: If SU acts up (IE: Force closes) flash this via CWM
Reserved for Linux version
Wow, looks easy! But I'm glad I did it through ADB. Nice job!

take everything that is in exploits.zip and move it to your android sdk directory specifically the location of adb.exe (will either be in platform-tools or tools) as for the two RUUs, they can be anywhere but you will have to move them at one point to your SD card. That is about it

damn right! lol
I edited services.jar that came with the newest Gingerbread 4.5.588 deodexed system to disable data throttling.
Tested and works, though you may want to make a backup of your services.jar file first. I take no responsibility if you screw up your phone
(Make sure you're running deodexed system)
Instructions:
1. Place zip file in root of sdcard.
2. Boot into clockwork.
3. Install zip from sdcard.
4. Choose the zip on your card.
5. Reboot.
Note: You MAY have to mount system first. I know in the past people have ran into that problem. I personally did not have to mount system.
Enjoy!
This does not work ....
It absolutely does work. Feel free to decompile the .dex file yourself to see if the throttling files are still intact and compare it against the .dex decompile of stock. Or maybe you could post WHY you think it doesnt work instead of just stating that it doesnt.

Were you trying to flash it in recovery? If so then it will not work. There are also two other ways to do this. You can extract the file and replace your services.jar file in root explorer or you could use the commands provided (without the adb) in the app terminal emulator.
To the developer, thank you for making this but if someone says it doesn't work, you do not need to get mad at them. That will keep others away from downloading your files
No I followed the directions step by step and i replaced it via Root Explorer restarted and all it does is do a large freezeup. I tried this twice and all you get is a freezeup on restart. In return all I got out of this is a SBF Flash twice back to 4.5 and deodoxed again -.-
Im not mad in the slightest. Im here to help. Unfortunately its very hard to help with so little details. "It doesnt work" doesnt help everyone else.
Now, Im not sure whats going on with his particular issues, but I can guarantee it does work. Im running it now on my own personal device and have tested it on 3 other Droid X's running 4.5.588 deodexed. The services.jar file came straight from P3Droid's deodexed update.zip. The throttling files were removed and I packaged up the file.
To the person having issues: are you absolutely sure youre deodexed? Are you using P3Droid's deodexed update? Did you attempt using the adb commands and if so did you receive any errors? I will say, I have not tried this with root explorer so I cant predict the outcome, though it shouldn't work any differently than adb.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
Ive never made an update.zip file before, but maybe Ill look into packaging it that way and see if he can have any luck with that.
Edit: Just packaged it into flashable zip. See first post.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
Yes I used p3droids new deodexed for 4.5.588 then applied the services.jar in the framework folder did a restart and got big freeze. I haven't got a chance to do the adb push ... I will try that when I get home tonight.
Thanks GC14 for this!!! I am still on the original GB deodex rooted leak. Do you have, or is there an uncapped data service.jar for that release? thanks
Im not sure, but I can just patch that one too and upload it if you want.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
If you don't mind that would be awesome.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
P3droid recently posted a fix for his deodexed leak that fixed fc issues by making it slightly oxdexed and slightly deodexed, will this work with it?
Depends if services.jar is odexed or deodexed. Open up his new build and check to see if services.odex and services.jar are both inside /system/framework. That would mean it's odexed.
does the OS need to be deodexed for uncapped mod to work?
Did you use Clockwork for DX or D2? I have Clockwork for DX installed but can never boot into it.
Disable USB Debugging and then try DX Clockwork.
Is there a way to get this on the oxed .591 GB leak? PLEEEASE

Download a program called usbdeview. Open up the program (run as administrator) and delete all of the drivers associated with your phone. Make sure USB Debugging is turned on in your settings/applications and plug your phone back into your computer. This should download the drivers necessary to run ADB.
Just use this

Try using one of splash screens that are on this site already so you can tell if there is something wrong with the file that you are using or if you are missing a step. You can always replace it later once you know what the problem is. I'm thinking that if it's saying that there is no such file that may be the problem with the file. Did you unzip the file from the folder and put it on the root of the sdcard?

I use wugs tool kit and has always worked on my GNex and until now my N7, any ideas anyone?
It seems to see ADB, but no Fastboot? very strange, could I need a fastboot file or something?
Yup, better not to use a toolkit.
Need adb.exe and fastboot.exe in the platform-tools folder of the android sdk and the proper drivers.
It is nice (but not neccesary) to add a path in enviromental variables so you don't have to have files in the same directory always.
