oooooh. Shiny!

I like it but i dont really like the green color theme. It doesnt match the xperia look but other than that its great. Thiugh it lags a little on tablets. I think this might hint at the color theme for key lime pie.

It looks a lot different on tablets don't it?

There is also already a black themed version, I have been running for two days now, its awesome.
See screenshot below.

Enjoy the DARK THEMED PLAY STORE.... I am.

Thanks the dark one is more my style

Note to Google:
STOP CHANGING THE PLAY STORE DESIGN. Please! I still remember the times where it was that Simple Green Circle to change from App to Games! You've already changed it a bunch of times! Just decide on one!
Rant over.

The andriod market? I prefer play store. It looks better and easier to navigate.

Hi,
I’m in the UK and I can’t even go on market. Can anyone help? So getting pissed with the old software on this phone. It’s a shame though, it’s full of possibilities.

You on gingerbread or ice cream? I read somewhere some time ago that Google was phasing out phones on gingerbread connecting to the play store. Not 100% sure but it was something along those lines

Play store
I’m not sure.
2.3.4 android version
4.0.2.a.0.62 build number
[email protected]#1 kernel version

I wouldnt bother installing the Play Store unless you are prepared to install link2SD and link Google Play Services to your SD as it will initially install to your internal storage and eat literally every MB of your memory.
Linking everything to your SD card will drastically slow down your phone though unless you have a superfast SD card. I have stock rom now with a load of games converted with PSXperia and IMO this is the best way to experience the phone now. If you can get epsxe on your phone without installing Play Store you can save a few more MB but IIRC when you install a game converted with psxperia and move it to SD via the inbuilt tool it only keeps a few Kb's of data on the phone. I have a fair few PSX games installed on my unrooted stock XP and the phone is still lovely and snappy and does exactly what I need. It wont run Snapchat and all that ****e but that is of no consequence to me.
Hope that helps.

Xperia range now official mobile of the UEFA Champions League

For those of you that follow football will no doubt know that Sony has been sponsoring the UEFA Champions League (the most lucrative football tournament in the world) for years now. Now Sony Ericsson is jumping on the bandwagon and has become “the official mobile handset of the UEFA Champions League” until 2012.
As part of the new partnership, Sony Ericsson will be developing a new mobile application for the Xperia family of smartphones, in conjunction with UEFA.com. It’s unknown what this will entail but the app will utilise the “GPS capabilities of Xperia smartphones”.
day after day i fell in love with my phone more and more and thanx myself for making the right choice.
I see that after the 2.1 update Generic UK we've got this application (UEFA.com).
Has anyone been able to do anything with it? It tried to start it, I filled in some data I was asked, but nothing happened afterwards...
I just download it from PlayNow
It really has a friendly user-interface with nice touch
you can see clubs' group standings, view calender, news, pictures, choose favourite club and many more
very nice app I recommend it

with the update my phone scores 17pts in linpack, above of the galaxy S. lets see how it performs with an optimized kernel. outdated eh?
I have both the Galaxy and the X10 and im sorry but unfortunatley the galaxy blows the X10 away in every dept , i love my X10 but even after the 2.1 update its still not that fast and as an actual telephone ( to make phone calls) it is the worst one ive ever owned , i really hoped that sony would sort out the in call volume issues but they havent ! and the horrible blue theme and menus suck , but hopefully someone will release a custom rom which will sort at least some of the problems out.
do I have to get it through PlayNow? Couldn't find it in the market, and I have uninstalled PlayNow (I have a backup somewhere, though).
1. I do like Football (aka Soccer to some of you)
2. It is free even though it may be a gimmick
3. I'd use it quite a bit..
but
4. It does not seem to want to work. I register it, and then it closes down on me... anyone else have these issues and were able to resolve it? I can ee it in Play but it wont let me re-download it...

This game move to SD
That's Make two with Asphalt 6
There is other ones free on the Xperia menu named Gun's n Glory and Happy Viking but those one are not from Gameloft
(If only Spectral Souls was free lol)
Note: It seems that Rainbow Six need the version 1.0.4 to work on 2.3.3 with an additional 1MB to download and Sacred Odyssey is not compatible with Gingerbread 2.3.3 and may crash soon after launch
Please post in there if that happened to you too... And keep it installed until an update comes out... (update seems not prompted when the game is launched and you might need to write to gameloft like i did to get the update)
Still shows it at 4.99 for me here in the US
I've downloaded it in Spain, for free. It force closes right after installing the data... I did it twice, which is quite taxing as the game loads more than 400 MB, and it gave me the same result. A bit off-putting, certainly...

To tell you the truth i didn't test it yet !!!
But it seems to me that this problem is the same as Sacred Odyssey !
Since the 2.3.3 update sacred odyssey force close (crash) once you launch it!
1: Sony need to make sure that his firmware don't kill the games that people own
2: Gameloft need to update his game and make sure to do that once sony do an update
3: Gameloft has to make the game free of system check cause this could lead to this
1 Sony VS Gameloft 2

any one with verizon get this for free ... or can even find it lol
update : download gamelofts app called 100% hd games . takes you to wap store. but here in us still shows up 4.99
Seems to be working for me (in the US, but not using verizon).
launch the Xperia play app -> click on "more games" -> wait a moment for the list to update -> click on the boldly marked "Rainbow six HD FREE" icon. (takes you to the wapstore page directly.) -> click "download"
Then after it "installs", launch it and wait for it to download an additional 400+ Megs ... slowly ...
Really surprised this game is free, you guys sure it's not only the demo that's free and the full game will be some in app purchase?.

that is not the play.
I am working on a semi official way as tablet s has it officially. Am trying to port it but will be useless on play. But on arc hope to get it fully working including pairing controllers with otg. We do how ever think in Sony's scheme they will be making ps3 pads compatable officially with any PlayStation certified device to promote sales of both pads and games but that's in the future.

Why would it be useless on the PLAY? I've already had some coworkers who wanted to play some 2p games on my phone. Yes, we'd both have to use BT controllers because it would be on the dock stand.

[Discussion Thread] Android 4.3

As you may know or not there was a found leak yesterday of REAL android 4.3 for the Samsung Galaxy S4 I-9505.
Well how does this relate to us?
Well we all are interested to see the difference in the system.
I thought it would be a good idea to keep a discussion thread just in case someone brings it up and people go off topic.
Some quick info on the firmware:
- A lot of backdoor additions such as the new norm of Low Power Bluetooth support.
- This version is NOT KEY LIME PIE.
- This version has almost no UI changes, but noticeable changes include settings access method in the camera e.t.c
- Some apps have Android 4.3 and even the modem name attached into the description when accessing app info.
- Known to increase benchmark scores by approximately 1800 in Antutu.
- Has a SeLinux button at bottom of About Phone in Settings.

Even if the performance on Android 4.3 would be better, we would sadly never get it to a state on the Xperia Play so that it can be used as a daily driver. We're not even able to get wifi working on android 4.2!
I don't think anything above 4.1 is worth working on.

What about performance?
great
It will be great if we can have a 4.3 roms for XPlay but i think that will kill the gaming performance of the device!!
It is rumored that Android 5.0 will run better on low-end phones than Jelly Bean did.

If you mix this rumor with the other rumor that Motorola has some secret new low-spec'd phones coming out, there may be some truth to it. I certainly hope so.
Personally I believe our phone is good enough to run JB. I don't see why it couldn't run Android 5.0 well.
JB performance is impressive and a lot of people don't understand RAM Consumption to a full extent on Android.
I think even 4.2.2 won't do the play any bad.

KitKat is all fine and dandy but without, I am sure, additional sources released by Sony (Ericsson) we will probably never get a JB kernel working and still retain full Xperia PLAY compatibility... then again I may be completely wrong and if I am someone correct me. I have stayed pretty much on GB for gaming. Either way, thanks for sharing... although I think this should go to the General forum.... anyways... thread on.
google says that they made the OS smaller and after so old devices that didn't get in the past update can now get update because they resolve many issues.

True but they also stated those will need to be updated by either the carrier or the manufacturer of the device(s). As $ony long ago gave up on the PLAY, I think its incredibly unlikely we will see any support form Sony and or even source releases.
Still, it would be awesome if we can get it up and running, but dont forget the highest kernel we can sort of get working, is kernel 3.4.
Kitkat would be an even higher kernel number.
Google isn't even releasing KitKat for the Galaxy Nexus. Sony isn't going to do it either, and it would need hardware drivers from Qualcomm side too.
Why is this thread in the dev section?
is that true?

Sorry for wrong section... Anyway to delete? On another note, dony and erricson broke up so i dunno if they would be wanting to support our 2011 devices. All we can do id hope a dev/sony has the power to bring us 4.4...

I don't know if the X Play will ever get KitKat but Google introduced a new runtime called ART to replace Dalvik with KitKat, on my Nexus 4 it really improve the performance to a substantial amount, so maybe that will help as well.

Would be great if Sony would pay more attention to their old phones, specially because they cancelled the ics update so sudden.
But i don´t think this will happen.
And that's one reason I won't buy Sony again.
we will get 4.4, not official but we will get it.
once i got a play i will work on it, otherwise we will have an other dev.

so? is there anyone working on kitkat roms for xPlay? or its abandoned at all?
By the looks of it, KitKat is out of reach for our device, theres barely any 4.1 or 4.2 jellybean roms functioning, what makes you think we will get 4.4 any time soon? Our Play is best optimised for GB due to performance issues as ICS+ isn't 100% functional on our play. Don't believe me? try any ics rom out and sooner or later you will find out that games will lag and memory will tend to be low. Sorry but this is the bottom line for our xperia play.
Legacyxperia (mostly mike) is working to get gully working 3.4 kernel. Than we wpuld be able to boot kitkat.

It is indeed possible, and I am saying this because I have NEO L(same as xplay) and I ran kitkat on my phone, thanks to @Mike's hard work. He reached at a point now where touch is working, he just need to have Wifi,Camera and some other things work and it will be there
