[Q] Showing off your N4 - Compass Mode - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

How do you show off how awesome your N4 is to your friends?
I love going to : http://maps.google.com/help/maps/streetview/mobile/contribute.html#all
Click on either "Community photo spheres" or one of your own if you have one uploaded. Then click the place name inside the picture. Once it loads click on the three dot menu button at the top and then compass mode. Awesome!
Any other top tips on how to impress with the N4?

Also if you upload your photosphere pictures on your Google+ account you can view the picture with great amazement.

can you do compass mode with that? can't find out how it is done?

compass mode takes the co-ordinates of the shot and remembers them. When selected, if you are pointing your phone north it will show you the view to the north ...

[Q] What's up with the pictures tile?

I've changed it about ten times but to me it always seems blurry. The stock photos looks pretty awful as well. Is that the way it's suppose to look?
Varies
It depends. It seems to have more to do with the image size than anything. I have both a Mac and a Windows box, and when I was trying syncing mine with the Mac for a while I checked the option to resize photos for the phone and all my hub tiles were really bad after that, when I sync from Windows and Zune with (presumably) larger pictures, I get the problem significantly less, though still the occasional pic it doesn't seem to like.
I'm talking about the main pictures double tile that you pin to the start screen. Not sure if your referring to the same thing. The individual pictures looks brilliant.
The panorama background in the picture hub looks awful as well but i don't really care too much about that one. My main issue is the picture tile on the start screen.
will wp7 ever be able to take screen shot
Have you tried choosing your own picture for the background?
In Pictures, touch and hold the panorama title. A menu should pop up allowing you to choose a new picture or have it choose one for you.
The panorama takes an image of at least 1426x800. Those seem to be the dimensions suggested to developers.
http://download.microsoft.com/downl... 7 Application Certification Requirements.pdf
If you don't like the double size Picture Tile, you can make a picture a favorite and then create a shortcut to it. This will be a single tile, and it takes you to the pictures menu where you can still scroll through all your pictures. That's how I have mine set up.
Thanks for the suggestions Tempest790. I tried the pin to start favorite option but its still blurry. Its nothing like the Zune tile which is crystal clear and very sharp. I'm beginning to think that's the way its suppose to look. I think my only hope now is to find another owner of a wp7 phone and ask to look at their pictures tile which in itself will be a monumental task considering I live in New York and all I ever see here are iPhones and androids.

Questions about the photo album of the Galaxy S2.

I'm currently using the iPhone 4 with the iOS 5 beta. I'm loving the photo album in iOS 5 because it shows where all of my geotagged photos have been taken.
I'm just wondering if the photo album of the Galaxy S2 and or Android 2.3 in general have a photo album where it'll show where the photos are taken. If not, what are the ways to enjoy/browse the geotagged photos?
yes
there is an option in the Galary
if u slide the option on the top to the right it will change the view to dates and geotages
You will need to turn on gps and set the gps setting to on in the camera app in order to do what you want to do.

Can you show a screenshot of how that looks like? I can't find one anywhere on Google.
Also, will it show an overlay of Google Maps with the geotagged photos pinned on the map?

sorry i was out town
those r the screenshots

why are all of my camera pictures come out rotated 90 degrees?

so here's an interesting thing that I noticed.. all of my pictures are rotated 90 degrees counterclockwise. Everything shows up on the phone (in the gallery app) and in google+ correctly (which is why it took me a while to realize this issue), but when I look at the actual jpgs, they are all rotated 90 degrees counterclockwise. Have you guys seen this before? How do I fix it?
original camera app?
auto screen orientation turned on?
original camera app (one built in to the n7100), screen orientation turned off. I prefer to use portrait mode for pictures.. and the pictures are always 90 degrees to the "right". what's funny is that picasa shows the pictures correctly. but windows photo viewer isn't, and file preview in windows isn't. when i export them to a non google service (such as QQ, a popular chinese instant messaging app), it's also showing up as rotated.
any ideas?

if u turn off the auto screen orientation, how can the note2 knows you want portrait or landscape.......
it's strange but google+, picasa somehow figures it out correctly.. *shrug* i'll try w/ the auto screen orientation on and see if that does it.

I thought this was a bug in android I found most of my pictures come out the correct way round as in the way I took them but occasionally the odd one will be rotated 90 degrees. This also used to happen with my note 1.

if you go in to the original stock camera app, if you click the cog on the top left, scroll down, there's a setting which says 'save as flipped'
if you click it, it should stop that from happening.
I always thought that was for the front camera

This option is disabled for me on my camera when I have the phone in landscape... And my photos are still flipped.

gallery view

when in my gallery and i view an image , i cant get it to go full screen , i always have the bar at the top to edit, share, delete ect and at the bottom it shows a small image of all the other pictures in that album .
it never used to do this before clicking on an image in the gallery even in an album , would show full screen without the bar at the top and picture preview at the bottom , anyone have any idea what i changed or didi ? tried to reboot but no luck
happens in both portrait and landscape mode.

hi there , appreciate the reply , yes i forced stop cleared chache ect from the gallery but still same issue, what was weird is it didint remove my albums i had created in there but it still cleared. i exspected it to wipe my albums back to default.
after you open the image and you have the line above with the edit, etc and the row of images on the bottom, just tap the image you're viewing and the two rows should disappear. If you want to bring them back just tap the image again
Not sure if I understood you correctly and you didn't provide a screenshot so I hope this helps. If not, please disregard
Screen shot link is there but when I tap my image the bars aren't going away the way they should , they are stuck there

[Q] Way to set home and lock screen wallpapers without cropping?

Hi guys!
I have been trying to set home and lock screen wallpapers without having to crop them, I want to use full images.
I tried using many apps - stock gallery, google photos app, picspeed, many ' pic2wallpaper' type of apps from play store..but none of them seems to work with our beloved note 4.
I have some 2K and 4K images that I want to use as wallpaper. But even the default images provided by samsung are cropped when selected as wallpaper.
Is there any other app that would autoscale the wallpapers to fit fullscreen, or maybe a specific size that we can manually resize the image to get the perfect fit without cropping(and the tool to be used to resize the image, if any)?
I am sure you awesome people here have already tried sorting this out
Thanks a ton!
Anyone?
Photo Grid
This may take several steps, but I am satisfied with my lockscreen now lol.
Download/open Photo Grid from the Play Store
Select Scrapbook (This will only work in Scrapbook mode)
Find the picture you want (You have to save the picture somewhere first if it's not in your camera roll)
Touch the picture. Then, in the lower right corner there will be an arrow going in a circle and it's blue. Hold down the little blue circle to stretch the picture out as tall or as wide as you like.
You will still be able to see some of the background, so touch the background and click on the Background button in the lower left corner. Select background of your choice.
Select Ratio at the bottom. Then, select the ratio 3:5 or smaller if you like.
Touch the picture again and resize with the blue arrow if you wish.
Then, hit save in the upper right corner.
I just thought of this, so I'm sure there may be an easier way. Let me know if this works for you, if you have already tried it or have found an easier solution.
Try Background hd wallpaper app by ogq.It has ability to set full images without cropping

Will try your suggestions. Been using Mont Blanc wallpaper for now lol
Try taking a screenshot of the full size wallpaper you want to use and then use the screenshot as the wallpaper.
Use image2wallpaper or slideshow hd live wallpaper
