Make sure you backup your original build prop before you make any changes.
What is Optimum?
His cable provider.
Bigup BK
so i back up my build prop and use this with an editor like rom tools right ?

In your build.prop change your fingerprint to
Code:
ro.build.fingerprint=verizon/voles/sholes/sholes:2.1-update1/ESE81/29593:user/release-keys
This will allow a full market.
To test: search for 'us bank' in the market, if only 2 apps show up, your not getting the full market.
This is the fingerprint off the Motorola Droid.
can the PROP file be edited, updated in the archive and re-signed and flashed without error, with current ROMs?

Don't see why not. Non eris roms may need more work, wait for my apk to do that.
jcase, correct me if I'm wrong but this market fix would be cancelled out by the JIT flash, since it updates the build.prop file.
might need to update the prop in the JIT flash if anyone wants to keep the full market.
again, please correct me if I'm wrong
How would you implement this in ahero / legend rom? I added the line abover to replace the one saying it was sprint but that didnt do the trick. Thanks.

I reached xda completely but there is no ways mentioned for defy. I wonder how CM and MIUI guys are able to build. I know they get the codes from GOOGLE opensource. But when i saw, i couldn't understand anything from Android Development page
For god sake's can any DEV please say how to make custom roms for DEFY
If you want to know how CM7 needs to be build, check the CM7 wiki and search for 'how to build'. For examples of changes, check review.cyanogenmod.com
This is a complete new build if android (compiled from source). To modify existing build, search google for build prop changes, de-(and re-)compiling apks, res changes...
With miui you can only remove/add apps, translate,... The same things as with a Motorola ROM cause thre source code is closed.
There is no straight forward way. If there was, you get what happens with other devices. A million ROM's with no contribution at all.
You will have to search and learn a lot. If only I had the time

http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Building_from_source i can't find the guide for DEFY here. Please help
Same as fe atrix but replace olympus with jordan.
The copying of proprietary files doesn't need to be done.
A useful utility for building could be the cm gui (somewhere on xda)
Gui:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1415661
(check 2nt post for a better list of needed software then on cm wiki, these need to be installed like 'sudo apt-get instal ...')

I'm looking to change my build prop on my nexus 7 due to some apps and games on market saying game or app is not compatible with my device. I know the device is more than capable of running all games and is very frustrating. How do I change the build prop and what risks are involved in the procedure? CNT find much on the search for changing build prop but get un related results.

Well first off you need to be rooted. My experience with editing the build.prop is limited to just LCD density which I think is what you're after? Anyway its easy assuming you're rooted... I just use a root file explorer like es or root explorer... set the folder or file as read/write... edit the file and change the LCD density = to whatever... 213, 160, etc.... save and exit.... reboot.... that's what I've always done anyway across all my devices
Hello everyone,

Changing your build.prop (and more exactly, your build information) won't really help you too much in this case; you're running an Intel-chip Android build, and most of the apps in the Play Store expect an ARM-chip based Android build. While the majority of the Apps rely on only Java (which is cross-platform) for their main code, if they need any ARM-only Native Code libraries they simply won't link on an Intel-based Android.
Now that you have a GNote build.prop (and you REALLY shouldn't change any of the lines except the ones that start with "ro.build."), please report back and let us know if my suspicions are correct, though.

You were right. Some apps worked but not much. For example dropbox worked but chrome didn`t.I think i will stop right here and install ubuntu.
Edit : Of course i didn`t changed any of these lines except ro.build.
I know this may be a dumb question. I ripped LG's video editor apk and attempted to install it on my Nexus 7 2013 (didn't work) and my laptop running 4.3 Android x86. What is preventing this app from installing?
Also, now that I'm here, I'm having headphone trouble with x86.. but that's not really important.
I don't have much knowledge in this. But it might be because the apk has some checks and/or it might also need some libs which can be only found on stock rom.
