Laggg - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys. I saw a video and an article that the Nexus 7 become very lag if the memory is below 3gb.... is that true???
Sent from my C6603 using xda app-developers app

Not all of them, but it is known that sometimes it isn't happy with the amount of space left and does go laggy.
Can't say I've personally experienced but yes I have seen it.

As I said in my last post.
I haven't personally experienced it, but I've seen it happen.
If your on custom rom/recovery you could wipe cache/dalvik.
Sometimes Android causes "Dead Space" which is where residual files that may even have been deleted, Android still reports that space in use.
Also try "Re-scan SD" an app from market.
That may help remove listed files that are no longer there.
Finally:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...GwsMSwxLDMsImNvbS5jbGVhbm1hc3Rlci5tZ3VhcmQiXQ..
That is a brilliant app for removing dead/unused and useless files on your device.
Good luck !!

Yes it's true. There's a thread about it somewhere on here. Check my post history. Close to 3gb and it lags to unbearable speeds. Mine already does that
Forever Gone helps, same thing as what the guy above me suggested, but once you start updating apps again and installing new ones, it gets Laggy again. Forever gone helps, but it's like a temporary fix. Still a great app though.

No offence, but you can't RMA a device because you've filled the space and still expect it to be as fast as when you unboxed it.
Things slow down, imagine walking with 1 brick in your hand, you could easily do it. Then put 40 bricks in your hand and try to run... you could hardly move..
Same with Nexus, silly analogy I know, but its a silly reason for an RMA also.

I had less space than 1gb out of 32gb and haven't experienced any more lagg than with +3gb of memory, nova 3,most wanted still lagged as it was with +20gb ,everything pretty much the same.

about rooting

I just wanted to give my opinion about rooting, I'm sure a lot of people like to do so, but on this device I don't think that you need to, I did a root on my .gs1 because of lag, then my arc needed more then root lol but my sgs 3 so far the best phone that I ever seen, not perfect, but as for lag, battery life, speed its top!
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
There a a ton of reasons to root besides lag.
I have an app that requires root that keeps my clock in sync with the actual atomic clock time. The system clock will, over time, be too fast or too slow which means that eventually my phone is a few minutes off.
I have an app that requires root that is used to freeze/quarantine bloatware.
I have an app that requires root that allows me to backup not only my applications, but the application data as well.
I also enjoy root for custom ROMs and kernels that have less lag/stutter than the phone normally does (and yes, this still applies to the Samsung Galaxy S3).
There are always reasons to root.
I understand, I'm not saying not too, for me if the phone is good I'm leaving it stock

Root no >> then no Nandroid and No TB no Ad Blocker . No push apps .

Rooting has absolutely nothing to do with reducing lag or anything at all performance wise.
Rooting just gives you superuser permissions on your device.
Even if you are running an octo core phone with 5gb of ddr3 ram, rooting still offers benefits.

I fail to see the reason for this topic.
You choose not to root your phone and seem to have no idea what rooting actually means.
Fine by me, why should I or anyone else care what you personally do and do not do with your phone?
ok I have another question is there a root where could just download an app like a old g s one?

I rooted because the T-Mobile not sound was annoying. Without root, I couldn't get rid of it. Also ad block needed to be done.

Galaxy Phones are hard to hardbrick (not revivable through simple software and/or a 2$ USB-Jig)
By following the instructions in the General section ('following' meaning 'reading', not 'assuming' or 'trying') you're on a quick and painless root.

does Dead Trigger work for our phones?

Has anyone gotten this game to work?
When I start up the first mission, it just stays stuck on the loading screen..

I don't think our phones are powerful enough :-\
nope doesn't work. it stuck at loading first stage, well not stuck but actually freeze the phone ~XD
I've actually ran into this exact problem, with the freezing and eventually battery pull when selecting the first mission... I did however find a thread over at the Madfinger site possibly explaining a fix.. Haven't tried anything yet myself, but feel free to try it out..

Yes, but you're also sacrificing quality and introducing new bug and glitch possibilities.

[Q]Screen like Surface tablet

Hey everyone I really like the Surface tablet lockscreen I believe it is. I was wondering if a lockscreen app like that is available or how to make a regular screen like that. To include email notifs and calendar like it does. Its a rather simple looking one : [http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/08/windows-8-lock-screenrtm-1344973244.jpg].

Got a problem with a Windows 98 theme? Ive even got the Blue Screen of Death which renders my Nook useless until reboot every 5 minutes. Freaking awesome!!!

Screen defect?

Just noticed this on my screen....it looks like some sort of discoloration. I'm running nova launcher and I'm stock, not rooted. It only appears on any grey popup dialog like the one below. Anyone know what it could be? It looks to me kinda like a background mess up on googles part on the grey popups but I could be wrong.

Can you guys please reply to my issue I've posted and spread the word as much as you can? We're no devs, but the best we can do is to raise awareness, because this is an issue that is unacceptable in final build stable software across multiple devices.

The ROM has been removed from XDA, so no reason to continue to discuss it.
