[Q] Galaxy Note 2 Flashing Help!!!! - Galaxy Note II General

I just recently flashed Slim Rom's 4.2.2 build onto my Galaxy Note 2. I have the T-Mobile variant which is the Sgh-T889 (or N7100?) and the rooting, flashing, and initial set up progressed without flaw, until I noticed that my data connection was not working, So I went into settings > about phone > baseband number and noticed that it was unknown, meaning that a mobile data connection is not an option.
Any leads? Where to start? I'm lost and without a phone.
Thank you all!

Does your IMEI number is dispalying correctly?
check *#06# and check it is same with one in back of device and on box.

Galaxy S - no signal

After factory data reset phone can't see GSM network and can't register. It says NO SERVICE. SIM card ok. check at another phone. What can be a problem and how to fix it?
Some info below:
fw: 2.1update1
baseband i9000xxjf5
kernel 2.6.29
build ECLAIR.XWJF7
csc i9000serjf2

Have you checked your APN settings?
I can't make even phone call. APN...What to check in particular? wifi and gps are working fine. tried service mode... it says signal strength 0db.
My wifes is the same way it cant lock on a service provider after factory restore only way it works is with a custom rom cant figure it out
Contact your network and enter mobile network settings manually .
jje
flash to custom rom maybe?
it's your APN settings
just google your APN settings... i.e. i'm with Bell mobility... if I google Bell APN I will find the info I need... that data goes into settings>wireless>mobile networks>access point names
hit the menu button and add apn.... bell's examples are here http://androidforums.com/samsung-i7500/87145-bell-mobility-apn.html
they are carrier specific obviously
Hi All,
This happened to me before and I was as frustrated as you and when I was about to give up, I tried one last restoration, but only this time I did it correctly. After that, I restored 5 different versions of Samsung Galaxy S stock ROM back to my Samsung Galaxy S. One of these versions were Chinese, and everything was in Chinese.
Samsung Galaxy S had no signal was because the modem file was missing while you were performing the restoration.
Now, all you have to do is go to this page and follow the instructions to restore the Stock ROM back to your Samsung Galaxy S.
You can try to install a different rom just in case. I had the same problem and i tried to fix it applying different modems but that wouldnt work so i ended flashing cyanogenmod and back to another custom rom and that did the trick.
Even flashing back to the latest official rom for my country and operator.

Restore to stock however no wifi or cell

I purchased a note 3. The previous owner modified the phone (rooted) and screwed up the whole thing there was not wifi or cellular. Checked the firmware and it said custom. I figured I could reset the phone to stock and use it normally. I located the firmware from sam mobile and flashed through Odin. The flash went of no errors ( so I believe I picked the right firmware however still no wifi and I get the not registered on network when I put in my SIM card? Shouldn't the appropriate kernels and modem be installed with the stock firmware? Checked the imei number is appears ok however the software shows a different number than the sticker on the back of the phone. At this point I am out of ideas. Has any one ever experienced this?
I have the Canadian note 3 SM-N900W8 model and flashed the following

[Q] Sim card problem

Hello,
I bought my Note 3 mobile and decided to flash C-Rom!
At the morning of one day I flashed the rom successfully. Later I installed all apps I wanted. I have my phone rebooted a lot of times with no problem. Some time at the afternoon of the same day I pick up the phone to stare at it! I activated the LTE option and deactivate it again. This was not the first time of doing it! After that the network signal was missing! I rebooted the phone, but it doesn't ask me for a PIN any more. I used my sim at another phone and it asked for a PIN. I used another SIM at my phone but it didn't ask for a PIN.
After dialing *#06# at Dialer a popup dialog shows up. The title of this dialog is MEID and the content is B0000000!
At settings>About phone>Status> the MEID is full of zeroes but the IMEI seems OK.
At the same screen i see the following:
Network - Searcing for Service
Mobile network type - Unknown
Mobile netwok state - Disconected
Service state - Out of service
My phone number - Unknown
MIN - Unknown
PRL version - Uknown
ICCID - Unknown
Thanks everyone in advance
Very strange.... without doing anything like flashing stock or modem?????

The reason is unknown but it seems like your phone lost a valid IMEI/baseband.
Can you check the Baseband version?
Try to flash the stock firmware, or flash the baseband for your device.
The problem suddenly appeared and that's what makes me feel uncomfortable. The baseband number is N9005XXUENC2. I will try to flash whole firmware, but does anyone know how can I flash only the baseband? I don't want to stay with the original ROM!

Extract modem.bin and NON-HLOS.BIN files from the stock firmware, and flash via Odin.

Finally I was able to solve the problem. It is a problem with C-Rom and 4g option. I am going to write a new reply by tomorrow and also to the forum. I appreciate the help guys.
Thanks a lot
The problem is with the LTE activation/deactivation.
I am from Greece with COSMOTE provider. Here, in Greece, at the moment we have to pay an extra fee to the provider in order to have the option of using 4g. The steps as I believe are the following:
1). I am not paying this fee at the moment so I am not able to use 4g.
2). I activate 4g and immediately I deactivated it. I did not want to open it, just touching the selection at the notifications. This option is at the notifications when you slide down the notification bar using 2 fingers.
3). Then the signal goes off and I had to re-flash stock rom once again before flashing the custom rom. The problem has to do only with the signal and everything else works as charm in the C-ROM.
The C-ROM version which has this problem is this C-RoM-KK-v7.1-20140622-hlte.zip

[Q] stock 4.4.2. No service, data works fine

Dear all,
You are my last resort. I've been trying to find out how to fix the problem, but no success...
My Note3, 9005 (bought new, without contract), has never been rooted or modified in any way. Current version is 4.4.2. IMEI is fine. Well, I am a regular user, who keeps updating the phone, when there's an update from samsung OTA.
I've been using the phone for 1.5 year, everything was fine. I recently switched the operators (Belgium) maintaining the same phone number. And there the problems started.
Very often I get "no service" message, although data connection works fine. I tried automatic and manual selection of the network, but the problem remains. When I select automatic network, I get the message "registerred on network", but "no service" sign remains and get no call connection (data connection works fine). When I select the network manually, I get a brief message "registerred on network", but still no service and then "the network is unavailable"/
I contacted the operator, they claim that my account is fine, they see no problems on their systems. The interesting thing is, that other operators SIMs work fine with my Note. Apparently, it is only my current SIM which fails to work. I have two different phone numbers SIMs from this operator and they both have a frequent "no service" in my Note. I have also requested a new SIM, which again did not work... The same SIM works fine in Sony Xperia. I have also tried that same SIM in galaxy s3 (LTE). And there was again a problem with connection, i.e. no service, but data functions fine. I have also tried different modes (3G, 4G), the problems remain. It looks like it is the problem with samsung devices.
This is the time when I really need the phone for my work...I keep failing my clients because they cannot get hold of me. And changing the phone number and operator would be very inconvenient at this time.
Is there anything I could do to fix it?

try to flash stock firmware of your country via odin. i hope its work.
Nico, many thanks!
I understand my phone was brought from the UK. But currently I am in Belgium. Could you please tell me, what country firmware should I use, what specific firmware I have to flash? (I would appreciate if someone could refer me to a download link...I am not very good with these types of things, I am afraid to mess things even further...)
rooted, reinstalled stock 4.4.2. Now when making a call, the network dissapears and connection dissapears and becomes "no service", therefore the problem remains. data connection works fine.
guys, please advice, what can i do to fix it? should i go for other ROMs (not stock), would that help?
i've read about ariza patch, but did not understand whether it is available for note 3 4.4.2.

Joku, thank you very much for your reply!
But I think I did exactly what you have recommended in the first attempt - flashed the stock version. Please see the pics of kies and suggested sammobile firmware attached. ...But "no service" problem remains. Althoug, I must say, it goes away from time to time (better than it was without reinstall). Maybe I should go for other country firmware (for example Belgium, where I am currently based and where the problems persist)???
After reinstall my firmware is:

All seems ok. Make a thing:
1. Backup your data and factory reset your phone (Pic attached)
2. Tell me if you have service then.
This is obviously a carrier issue as you stated yourself other carriers work fine. You can waste your time throwing things at the problem, but I'm highly confident it's not going to be fixed by anything you do.

It does sound like a provider problem...
Try a factory reset first, just to be sure. Best do it through recovery, so you can wipe the cache as well.
Does the no service happen everywhere? Or just in specific places?

Thank you all for your replies.
The problem is that the same 'no service' SIM works fine in another phone (sony xperia), the provider will claim that it is note3 fault.
I did factory reset after I reinstalled the stock version.
It looks like ' no service' appears when the phone changes the cell/network towers when travelling from one location to another. .. But I can't say that it is always the case. I just don't find any logical reason to fully explain that.
The weirdest thing is that data connection works fine always.

It is probably related to the way your provider does the 2G/3G/4G band allocation and switching - what provider is that?
You can also try to set the data to "3G only" vs "LTE/3G/auto" and see if is any difference.
The provider is Base (via virtual network provider).
I've tried everything, including changing to 4g, 3g, etc. Nothing helped : (
Should I try flashing different modems? The question is, which versions should I go for. ..?
updated to lollipop. no changes
I still haven't solved this issue. I just updated to lollipop (via CrashRom), the problem with "no service" remains.
Is there anyone with similar problems, who was able to find an answer? What else could I try? Should I try flashing different modems? Could anyone help me choosing which modems should I try?
pleeeease.... : )
anyone please?
can I try flashing different (older) modems? would that mess up my curent rom?

Check this post for downgrading from Lollipop to KitKat.
Regarding to "No service" problem, go to the ServiceMode MAIN MENU and try NV REBUILD.
To open the ServiceMode MAIN MENU:
- If you have root, install Phone INFO ★Samsung★ app > Menu > 'Secret Codes' > *#27663368378# > 'Launch 0'.
- If you don't have root, open the dialer > *#0011# > Menu - Back > Menu - Key Input > Q0 > wait... until it appears

firstly, many thanks for your advice to rebuild nv.
i did as you explained, but... it did not help.
i went through all of the options available, flashed stock firmware, flashed various roms. nothing helps. what's interesting that i have call availability (service) for some time, but when i move to different area, the service dissapears and i have to turn on/off airplane mode. and this happens with specifically one provider (mobile vikings/base - belgium). if i insert the other provider sim, note 3 works fine.
my imei is ok.
pleeease help me to fix this problem. what else can i do? is theo nly option left to change provider?

From your first post, I have no idea about your problem.

(1) + (4) ==> your Note should be OK.
(2) + (3) ==> the SIM is OK.
Currently I have no idea.
Your best bet is flashing back to original stock firmware.
And try to check your SIM card in your Note 3 by follow these steps:
In the ServiceMode MAIN MENU, select DEBUG SCREEN > SIM INFORMATION, you will see 3 options. Select every option, capture screenshots and post it here more more checking.

In the band frequency it says "unexpected value". Maybe that has something to do with the problem... Or am I being listened by secret services : )

Mine are the same.
Except for the 1st screen: SIM Phase = 2; SIM voltage class = 3V.
The 2nd and 3rd screens are the sme.
is there a way to see the reason why the network is being disconnected via service menu?
...because when i turn airplane on/off, the network comes back. but when i dial the number it disappears right away with the message "network not available".

Yes there is. Here is how:
- If you have root, install Phone INFO ★Samsung★ app > Menu > 'Secret Codes' > *#197328640# > 'Launch 0' > BASIC INFORMATION (capture screenshot #1) > Menu - Back > NAS INFORMATION > MM INFORMATION (capture screenshot #2) > Menu - Back > MM REJECT CAUSE (capture screenshot #3).

And post these 3 screenshots for more investigation.

Out of Service Network most of the time after flashing custom ROM

I hope I am posting in the right section.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 (I9505) and it was crashing on the stock ROM so I flashed the Imperium LL Rom v11.0. The problem I am having is my phone reporting no network signal or "Out of service". But not always. After a reboot I usually have network signal. After locking and unlocking the phone I never have. The signal usually comes within a few minutes. When my phone is reporting "Out of service" I cannot make calls but I can still receive calls. And after the received call has terminated I can still not make calls. After a few minutes the network signal icon comes and I can make calls. Until I lock my phone because it gets lost everytime.
Some info:
1. I was on a rooted Stock 4.2.2 before I flashed the Imperium LL Rom.
2. The IMEI seems to have changed. I never took note of it before flashing, so it might have always been different but the IMEI reported by the phone is different from the IMEI on the sticker underneath the phone battery. I tried the Xposed IMEI changer but the problem still happens so this may be unrelated.
3. While searching I found it could be an invalid Modem driver. In the settings the Baseband version is I9505XXUBMEA so I tried flashing the driver for that version using ODIN. No change.
4. I tried via Recovery to flash Slim80 Kernel Cleaning Script v1.9 and then the Imperium Kernel v3.3 but no change.
I did a factory wipe before flashing the firmware.
Any help or suggestions please?
Thanks!
I have actually solved this. What I had tried before was flashing the modem with the same Baseband I had previously ie: I9505XXUBMEA thinking that there were specific versions which needed specific drivers. Upon reading more I found out that newer versions of the modem should be installed and that XX was a carrier code and the last 2 letters are how recent the driver is. So I tried the latest modem (XXUHOE2) I could find similar to the Imperium Build which is XXUHOJ2 and it seems to be working. My phone retains the network signal when put to sleep.
The fact the IMEI changed is weird and I don't know if it makes a difference. Maybe it was always like this..but it is strange that it is different to the one on the sticker. The format is correct because only the last 4 digits differ.
Anyway I hope this info helps someone with similar problems.
How can I mark the title for this as [Solved]? I can't find any way.
