Hi,
i started on the official Sony Mobile support forum a Topic with the difference between Burst and Automatic Mode .
Here ist the link : Link : http://talk.sonymobile.com/message/445145#445145
Perhaps WE FROM THE XDA FORUM can write more reviews into the Sony Topic and perhaps Sony will see that they made a (i hope) software error !
We should show Sony the Way !!
I've already talked to a Sony dev and made them aware of the issue. They said they have already gotten other reports about it as well, but continue to let them know. The more people that complain about the issue the better.

Ok that's good .
How you say The more people write about this issue into the Forum of Sony Mobile the more will Sony see that the People aren't stupid
Don't know what you people are looking at, but pictures on my Z on burst mode come out disgusting. Loads of noise, no extra detail, they look absolutely awful. Just do not know what making normal pictures look like crap will do to help....
Simply put we need a sharpness and compression control setting like the HTC One, that's it.
i have a camera related issue but its not directed at burst mode, when I take pictures at night I get a blue tint at the bottom of the photo if im holding it in portrait and if I have it in landscape its obviously on the right hand side its not a subtle tint but a very dark tint and its pretty bad. anyone having the same issue?
the problem is that this is the second xperia z to have done this so if I am the only one this has happened to then I must be the unluckiest guy in the world to get two handsets with the same fault

The smoke truth is, the low light performance of the Z is only decent when you use night portrait in scenes. Try that and see if the quality improves.
Also I really don't know where all this talk of bust mode pictures being better comes from. For me they're are absolutely horrible. Noisy as hell and just unusable.
The only problem with the Zs camera is under low light, it's much improved if you use night portrait as I said but that's the only weakness I've found. In good light it smashes everything I've compared it to so far. IPhone 4S and 5 don't compare and my friends GS3 is no where close.
The Zs camera gets a bad rep because the Z gets a bad rep from the tech blogs. Sony is an outsider and I doubt they've greased many palms.

tell sony to get their cybershot department to write some proper software.
I've been comparing my xperia z to my blackberry z10 and the blackberry pictures are so much better. Same subject, one shot after the other. Sony really need to fix this. And quickly.
the other biggest ISSUE of Xperia Z camera is it takes DAMN LONG time to load up.:crying:

Similar problem on low-light (used night portrait scene, night scene, normal, all with flash).
Cleaned the lens, flash etc. Seems like the flash is placed a little bit too close to the lens.

So i bought and installed a FFC, (bought 2, installed both). the font was blurry but i fixed the focus. But the back camera is really bad compared to my old one. i even switched back to be sure. ive only tested at night indoors because its nighttime now, but the FFC version has lots of awful lines running up and down the screen when i look through the viewfinder, whereas the vibrant version is crystal clear. when i take a picture it comes out much better than what i see in the viewfinder but still a bit of the lines. anyone else have this issue? im running bionix1.8 i tested both cams on that and only the ffc version has this issue...
Are you serious? This is the first time anyone has EVER complained about this! Alert the media...stop the presses...call you Senator...and WAKE UP THE PRESIDENT!!!!
post some picture so we can see
Dude, so you spent say about $60 for two replacement cameras, pried your phone apart, drilled a hole, and subjected your screen to disolving fluids but couldn't be bothered to read the whole thread?
no drilling involved.
someone delete this thread. read the ffc thread, as its a well known side effect. still waiting on the rom dev's to get theres so they can really tweak and make the ffc work to its fullest
All I have to day is I sure am glad I didn't do the mod. In all the excitement almost nobody mentions this problem. I know I never saw it mentioned, and I read several walkthroughs explaining the mods and how to do it.

Please DON'T delete this post. Why would we have to read the whole thread for such vital information. That thread is ginormous.
Dude, the ffc is much lower resolution than the rear camera, if you replace your rear camera (which is what it sounds like you did) it's a massive downgrade.

ok, you guys are being too hasty.
First you guys jumped and bought cameras before support was even added.
Now, you guys are QQ'ing because it's not working right, eventhough you all now the devs don' have cameras yet.
Just be patient and wait for the devs to get their hands on cameras.
crying and ****ing on a forum are not going to resolve your problem.
The warehouse is not going to accept returns.
So you might as well keep using your original camera until proper support is added for the FFC.

i there is a problem then it could be a bad batch of cameras or a conflict in the phone,

I can 100% assure you ALL the cameras where extensively tested prior to shipping. I have been in contact with the CEO of Global for 2 weeks now. The issue with the quality of the pictures is believed to be in the kernal. the i9000 kernal differs greatly from the vibrant kernal. The devs are working on it and as soon as they have a solution im sure everyone will know! just be patient.
Yeah I read a good ten pages of threads and 2 hardware guides and a software guide and watched a hardware video all without a single mention of this.
After all your flaming I did dig a bit deeper and found it, but this is something that should be in caps at the top of every thread.....

This is Why I want a portable cam
This is Why I want a portable cam that could be plugged into the phone and use it as a FFC or as a portable camera head so I can look inside walls and take pictures with the phone as the capture device (would be awesome for my work). Then i could use it as a FFC and not be bothered with trying to redesign a phone and installing a junkie little .3 meg camera

But the problem with that is if you can control the ISO on one phone and not the other how do they compare that? Choose the lowest ISO for one phone and let the other shoot in automatic? So one phone will shoot at its lowest which you set to say normally on a smartphone is 50-64....while the other phone in automatic shoots at 150. Crop those and you will obviously see more noise in the ISO150 picture.
The photo tool is horrible to get accurate comparisons between phones....but for fun...why not. Just dont use it to choose your next camera phone lol.
It's better than nothing! Like someone said the tests seem to b fair and will give an idea of the quality of the camera. They also show the jpeg compression level. But I would also look at reviews before making any final decision.

Like you, im not worried about contacting them about the tool. What im gonna try to do is pull a couple of those pictures and compare the EXIF info in each and see how fair they are.
But when I see someone post the link to that tool, I just like to inform the readers not to use that tool as a deciding factor. Its far to inaccurate. ISO is certainly not the only thing to worry about when comparing. Default metering modes are different on each phone. On the X10 its default is center weighted....on my samsung focus the default is matrix....and metering modes certinly make a difference in overall picture as well.
When comparing cameras, look at the EXIF info of each picture....if one picture reads F/2.8 1/450's ISO100 with matrix metering EV0. Make sure the other picture is the same or extremely close. Then do some cropping and see which is better....or just side by side without cropping look at the colors and which is more accurate....look at certain areas of each picture...pick little things and see which is more detailed/legible without zooming.

What do you guys think of the camera modes? I think a lot of them seem to be cool but aren't they all independent? I.e., if I'm taking a shot of 3 people in a busy area, it stands to reason that I would want to use best shot for the people's faces but also use the eraser feature in case someone walked by. Is that possible?
I'm also thinking about combining all the features in very few modes...like what the htc one did.. it's actually all based on burst-mode or post-effect.
I'm really confused why they've made it in this way, it can't help a lot in the daily usage and sometimes is annoying.
Is anyone else having the issue of the camera not remembering the mode if you close ot then open it again at a later point

Gs3 gti9300 had this to it is easily fixed by choosing your desired settings, then take a snap of something, then close cam and close in running apps, then when u load fresh it will still have saved settings. This only applies to gps, face detection, ISO, resolution, not the drama shot and shot with sound.
Hope this helps

I am attaching a possible HTC M8 screenshot (source: @evleaks), reported here. Let's hear some feedback. What do you like/dislike?
Personally, I like the onscreen navbar vice the capacitive ones on the M7. I do wish HTC would update their lockscreen icons (phone, messaging, etc), they look so outdated. I would like to see HTC provide more icon sets that can be used on the lockscreen.
Update 2/12/14: Numerous screenshots and device pics have been added. If anyone has new pics or info, please post them! Thanks everyone!
I personally prefer the capacitive buttons but I could live with onscreen buttons I guess. I don't really care how bland the UI looks, I'm hoping for some hardware goodness like improved speakers, battery life, camera, quality control, etc etc. If they nail the hardware they could just completely botch the software for all I care, that's what custom roms are for
I prefer on screen keys. You can customize them better, and makes immersive mode so much better too.

First thing first. Check if it is an external or internal issue. To check if it is external, take a closer look to the camera (if possible with a zoom ?) and if you see the lens is foggy or some moist inside there, then you will have to open it. To check if is internal, install 2 or 3 other cameras that work with selfies and see if it is blurry too.
Could you post an example?

1st, if you want someone to answer to you, you must click on the reply button. otherwise, that person might never know that you are asking him something.
Now, this is a picture of how more or less a foggy/moist lens would look like (like fog accumulating on the interior). If you take a close look and you dont see anything abnormal, then it is more likely to be something inernal (software related) but in order to see whether is that too then, you might want to install several camera apps and try each one. if none of the show a blurry image, then it is software related. if all of them show you the same result then ... it might be external and you would have to open the phone.

A) If the OP is serious about this thread, they'll come back and actually check it and see my request. If they need me to hit the reply button, that's just lazy and not giving a care. If they don't care, I don't care.
B) If you meant to attach a photo, you forgot to.
C) I'm not really interested in seeing what you have, I'm here to help the OP. I've been doing photography for over 30 years now. I pretty much have seen it all. Not sure why you think I want to see what you have since you are not the OP.

This is what i mean.

And to be honest. If you want s fast response then the usual approach is a reply.
Seems like you took my comment the wrong way. i dont know why since it is just a suggestion which make sense (didnt they created the reply button for that reason?) . Also, you are talking to someone who had that same issue. Maybe not with this phone but with the samsung galaxy s5.

Er, the OP started the thread and commented about blurry photos, what made you assume the thread was suddenly about you?
And there's about a million different reasons for photos to come out blurry which is why it is best to ask for examples instead of jumping on a solution that is probably somewhere at the bottom of the list out of possible reasons first. Makes complete sense that I was talking to the OP if you're actually here to help the OP.

Since someone else seemed to hijack, I'll need examples please.

Ah. nevermind I thought I was talking to the OP but now i figured out i was talking with someone else.
Do you know what a hierarchy chart by any chance? (dont go taking this question the wrong way now)
Yes, I know what a hierarchy chart is but I fail to see how that solves the OP's issue without the OP coming back and giving us examples of his/her blurry photos.
To get back on track, and yes this is almost pointless without samples of the blurry pics, my front camera seems to "smooth" selfie pics as if to make them seem better. They look, to me, like they have been processed to look "better"--like some people often do on Facebook to pics of themselves, particularly if they are above a "certain age."

First thing first. Check if it is an external or internal issue. To check if it is external, take a closer look to the camera (if possible with a zoom [emoji361]) and if you see the lens is foggy or some moist inside there, then you will have to open it. To check if is internal, install 2 or 3 other cameras that work with selfies and see if it is blurry too.

Thanks for all the suggestions. It turns out lens had collected dust under the screen protector. I took some pics without screen proctor they came out just fine. I am sorry to reply so late due to hectic work schedule. Truly appreciate the advice. I didn't mean to post a question and disappear.

Just bought the V20 and I've got to say how disappointed I am with the front camera, particularly auto mode. It's almost impossible to take a picture that isn't blurry. The only way to get a decent picture is to switch to manual mode and increase shutter speed. Once you toggle between shutter speed and iso, you can capture really decent pictures. Where this causes problems is when you need to snap a picture really quickly and don't have time to sit and adjust settings. I'll probably return this phone and go for a Samsung. At least I know I'll get great pictures. Very disappointing.
the front camera sucks because of the focus, that's why mines blurry anyway. it's like infinity focus so anything closeup, like a selfie, is not sharp. the galaxy s7 was the same way.. the ffc was garbage on it bc of this. weird, bc my note 4 ffc was 10x better than both and that phones 3 years old lol

I think it has something to do with with the stupid beauty filter on the front cam for selfies. Even if you turn it down to 0 it still looks like it's applying a smoothing effect and there is no way to turn it off as far as I know.
Just doing a comparison shot in another camera app like the Google camera I can tell a difference in the detail of my skin. The Google camera sucks because there is too much noise overall but I can actually see the individual hairs on my beard whereas on the LG one with the beauty thing turned to 0 it still looks like a smoothed out mish mash
