Lost root on custom rom load - Droid RAZR M Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My Razr M was rooted and I was able to load Safestrap so I could flash a custom ROM. All went well until I went to Titanium with Root and it complained about me not being rooted. I cant open Superuser, I aslo ran the ROOT CHECKER app and It said I wasnt rooted. Now am I stick with this rom? I tried to re-root but I cant get the bug report / vibration to happen. Any ideas>?

By can't open superuser do you mean it fcs? If so try wiping data on the superuser app.

Titanium backup problems

Anyone else having problems with titanium backup, i just updated it to the newest version, and now its telling me im not rooted no more? but the phone is rooted.
Are you running a custom Kernel? I just had this same issue yesterday. Let us know if you get it working and if you're able to restore backups. I got it working, but could not restore backups. I keep getting a parsing error.

Running superuser.apk?
Can you still get root from a terminal session (su)?
Are you using the latest busybox?
Have you tried letting it install its own app-only busybox?
All my problems I've had with TiB have been with superuser.apk and busybox.
Might not be permanent root then, check other root apps like rom manager or something. Parse error is prob the version of busybox you have, clic problems in tb, then download busybox from within app.
On stock rom/flash a rooted kernel, search the dev section and check again, the joeykrim root is janky

[Q] Problem with my Rooted Nexus 4 and SuperSU

I got a Google Nexus 4 about a month ago. Somebody told me I should root my phone so I installed the Nexus toolkit and did all of that. I proceeded to install a buncha stuff on it like Call Master, Titanium backup, etc.
But then I kept getting notifications saying there was an update to Android 4.2.2 so I updated it thinking maybe it wouldn't cause a problem. But now none of my programs work, and when I open up SuperSU it says:
"There is no SU binary installed, and SuperSU cannot install it. This is a problem!"
how can I fix this?

Do you have a custom recovery? You'll have to flash the SuperSU zip again so it can install the binaries.

Alot of times u lose root when u install an OTA. You will need to reroot your phone

What's a custom recovery exactly? I'm a complete noob to this stuff.
And how do I flash the SuperSU zip again?
Just download the toolkit from WuFresh and in it they have an for Nexus 4 on 4.2.2 proceed to root again since your bootloader should be already unlocked (when the phone boots you see under Google a lock that has been unlocked) once it's rooted again, you'll be clear, I would suggest making a fresh Nandroid after you rooted having the new OTA.

i might try this.
So basically I gotta re-root my phone again? If I do that am I gonna lose everything?
No only unlocking the bootloader will erase your data

Get OTA Root Keeper from the Play Store and back up. Then whenever there is an OTA update, you just restore the back up and you will have root again.

[Q] Unrooted phone fails to reroot but want to reset flash counter to return phone

So I rooted my phone and installed CM rom which was unstable for my model and it failed for some reason and stopped working so I installed the stock firmware through Odin. Superuser app was left but root was gone so I rooted it again to get the root, now superuser disappeared and the phone was still unrooted. I repeated the root process but nothing happens and I tried rooting with motochopper as well but nothing happens. I just need to find a way to reset the flash counter so that I can return the phone.
Try installing Koush's Superuser app from Play Store.
It's obvious that you have to download superuser or supersu from play store.

Obvious? How does superuser help on an unrooted phone? I checked with root checker basic to see if I rooted my phone and it didn't. I passed on ODIN but it´s still not rooted..
Indulge us and install a superuser app, then check with root checker.

I have trouble with root and SuperSU on 4.4.2

I'm having trouble with SuperSU on 4.4.2 on Nexus 4.
So at 4.3 I unrooted first, then OTA'ed to 4.4 and now 4.4.2.
Yesterday I used cf-auto to root my phone, but there was no SuperSU. Then I downloaded one from Google Play. But it keeps saying "unfortunately SuperSU has stopped" when there is a need to use SuperSU, i.g. when there is a root explorer app running. I doubt whether the root was successful so I downloaded a root checker, but it kept saying "please wait". So I even don't know whether my phone is rooted.
Please help.
Do you have a custom recovery? Download the zip in the op and flash in recovery.

no i have the original recovery.
I tried Reinstallation in SuperSU and used root checker, which said my device has root access. But after I installed SuperSU again, it keeps crashing again. (keeps saying SUperUS has stopped.)
If you haven't gotten this squared away, I would recommend using Wug's toolkit to return to stock unrooted and then using the toolkit to reroot.

Just encountered this kind of problem on Purity. Flashed latest build (4.4.2), and then I didn't have root acces anymore. Then I tried rooting with Wug's toolkit (CWM as recovery and SuperSU as root), and unfortunately superSU didn't appear at all in the apps. I tried installing it from the recovery, no luck.
Then I tried it with SuperUser. it worked. I didn't ask any questions

Stock ROM needs

Hi. Can anyone help me with the latest stock rom which I can flash thru recovery or ODIN? need rooted ROM.... So I can switch easily without rooting after flashing the stock ROM.
THANKS

Stock ROM is possible to flash only by Odin.
Imho rooted stock doesn´t exist. You must root it after instal.
easiest way to to flash latest available rom for your region/carrier using odin, then root using towelroot. i'm using the latest uk btu which is still FNB8. I've tried loads but always seem to come back to this setup, it's the most stable for me.
If I'm understanding you correctly, you want to be able to root/unroot at will?
Easiest way I found is if you have custom recovery Philz. With this you can go into Philz setting, restore root and then install SuperSU from store. Then to unroot just choose "Full unroot" in SuperSU app and you're done.
You can also use twolroot to root the phone then install SuperSU to full unroot.....although I've found that this can take a couple of attempts of rooting/unrooting before the UNROOT will hold for some reason. At the moment I'm on totally stock ROM, stock recovery, but I rooted with towelroot to make some adjustments using xposed/wanam and to edit the snd_soc_msm files for louder music and remove bloatware using rootexplorer, and have now finally got unroot by rebooting/clearing cache at each stage of the process (i.e. when i root, when i install supersu, when i update the binary in supersu, then i reboot one more time once root is confirmed working, then full unroot and uninstall towlroot app and reboot/clear cache once more).
So now I have a sort of custom stock rom without root, sky go player working. Perfect setup until I get brave and a new update comes out.
::EDIT::
there are also pre-rooted stock roms in this thread,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2250824
not sure if the procedure for unrooting would be the same though? or even if you can using these roms?
