Voice Dial issue. Help! - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am not sure if there is a fix for this.
I press the button on my Bluetooth headset and I am prompted by "say call, followed by a name or a number".
It works perfectly if I am dialing a home or cell number. It does not recognize work numbers. No matter what I do. If I use Google voice search manually, it can dial my contacts work numbers without issue.
I am stock 4.2.2.

Does the contact your trying to dial the work number have more then three numbers? Because mine will actually ask me which number but will only pull home work or home mobile ect. Meaning you can only reach two numbers per contact doesn't seem to matter what there labeled as

Some have only 2. Some 3.
Even the ones with only 2 won't work. It is as if the word "work" was omitted from the search field.

Tablet Talk will do what you want.
Play store I assume?

Yep.
Google Voice is what I use. You use the Google Voice number just like a cell number. Google even gives you a voice mail number.

[Q] Setting to hear notifications while on a call?

Apologies for this simple question, as I have tried searching everywhere.. While on a call, I don't hear when texts come in using the stock messaging app and also Whatsapp.. Am I missing a setting somewhere?

This is a good question as my girlfriend just yelled at me beside I didn't answer or call her back. Didn't hear the call or text while I was on the phone.

Good question.....
Anyone? This is my first Nexus device, so I honestly have no idea..

Why would they put that in the first place? It would interrupt the call, If you want you could just check your notifications afterwards.

Well, every smartphone I've previously used (including the att Galaxy S2) would sound off a notification and that way it was easy to check if the message was important and place the phone on speaker while responding.. Our phones can multitask for a reason..
But it's always been available as an option on my previous phones that could easily be disabled for those who prefer no interruptions.

there is call waiting. just go to the dialer and hit setting on the bottom right and then scroll down to additional settings. as for text im not sure.

Home after calls

I was wondering if there is a way that when you hang up from a call you press end and you go to home screen instead of being directed to call log. Can we modify some files or something of the like. I'm sure some people want to be directed there but I for one just want to return home with ONE BUTTON PRESS. Thanks for any feedback no flaming allowed.

I use Not Call Log, and it works well. (I have no idea why Google thought the original behavior was a good idea.)
Perfect just what I was looking for.

No contact details for Incoming calls in Dock mode (landscape)?

Santa got me an ibolt dock for Christmas. When I get an incoming call it doesn't show the contacts picture or name?
I keep my phone horizontal (landscape) and the Samsung contact/phone app just shows a black space where the picture should be.
IncidendIy, I notice you can't open contacts, select dial and make it rotate to landscape when you turn the phone horizontal in normal (not docked mode)
Is there a setting somewhere I'm missing?

Sorry about the quality, couldn't get a screen grab to work.
One picture shows an incoming call, the other during.
The only way around this is to use hands free mode so it talks and says who's calling.
Has no one else come across this bug?

Same here, you should maybe ask the iBolt guys in their accessory-thread.
Didn't know there was a thread. Thanks, hope it's quicker than their customer services. Took me a month for a reply on a sales query. Not heard back yet about a cable issue I had over a week ago

Thing is it looks like a note 3 dock (Samsung) issue as the dialler is seperate from the ibolt app. Looks like stock dialler to me.

Ha just found this :
"Where is the caller ID?
There is currently a defect in Samsung software preventing the caller ID from showing up when the phone is docked in landscape mode. We have reached out to Samsung and are hoping to have a resolution soon."
