hello
today i'm going to buy my new phone because i've sold yesterday my samsung i8910. i was going on the htc desire but i've see that xperia is already rootable. thanks to that. can you tell me if now, with the root, we will have2.1 sooner than we expect and custom roms? the hardware of the xperia is better than the desire but i was going on the desire because of the faster and more actual os. thanks
The X10 is NOT rooted yet people working on it but it is difficult.
so what's your opinion, should i go for the xperia and wait for the root or should i buy the desire?

its risky. the X10 might never get rooted. however.
X10 rooted = million times better than desire/nexus
X10 not rooted = POS you should avoid. unless the phone design is the only thing matters to you
I have my hopes up for the froyo petition, especially answer to that. Ofc nothing confirming but atleast it was'nt a defenitive no.. still, if you want an up to date phone X10 is not your choice as of right now. Sad thing couse its one damn fine device and im pleased with it, but ofc i'd like to see some updates soon

serious hardware that is crippled by an outdated OS. if it would get 2.1 or if the OS gets a fix for the laggy interface, i would say it's a good buy.
you should wait and see what's up.
because if this phone is rooted, it's a different ball game.

think you should give yourself a timeline
if paul is not able to root and SE is not giving a better announcement before your timeline
then you give up x10
for us user with a X10 already we can only pray=..=

lol SE have alot to answer for what a let down. Mind you I think if SE announced another fantastic android handset to be launched, with better specs then x10, i fear most people would probably fall for that aswell.
people need to stop moaning . x10 does everything it needs to do and does it great. the only lag is when using timescape (and se promise to fix this in the next update as they managed to make it not lag on the x10 mini and mini pro). i dont use timescape anyway
with the htc ime keyboard my x10 is great. i will only start feeling let down when everyone else is getting 2.2 and working flash. at the moment though im having no problems at all with SEs version of 1.6
also got to consider that x10 is about £100 cheaper than a desire/nexus one

you really not experience any lag at all in lock screen?
and for why x10 mini is not lagging there's a thread already told us it's the different of resolution make x10 mini smoother than x10 and I'm convinced.
and man if you can get a x10 cheaper than a nexus one for £100 get me 1 please i'll more than happy to have one

i am thinking about it, i think all this business with updating taking months apon months is stupid, personally i brought the phone expecting it to receive the new android software fast but SE cant perform as expected.

The X10 in its current form runs fine and there are no better alternatives. IMO
My next phone upgrade will not be a Sony Ericsson though. Possibly HTC if they improve their design and other bits here and there by next year.

I'm seriously considering selling... I'm really dissapointed at how SE deals with software upgrades, the protected bootloader being the prime example of this. I'm hoping for the devs to do something good, but I'm not holding my breath. Sony's done a great job of crippling hope of a decent upgrade.
And yes, the phone works "as is" as many have stated, but the low in call volume, some moments of lag across the OS, lack of MT on a device that should clearly support it and other random little annoyances make me think that spending so much on a "flagship model" was a mistake... I would have loved SE to prove me wrong with a firmware update that solved a bunch of these issues. Now I'm feeling pretty sour about living with these issues as long as I own this phone.
I like this phone, and i am not going to sell it for a while, but i am a bit disappointed and i am sure that my next device will not be a SE, because i do not want to find myself in this situation again.
If their is a hell, you will get in to it if you sell your X10 to another. Just burn it!

Some comments are out of order indeed. But SE DID PROMISE something else than delivered. In the western world that is NOT acceptable.
I will not sell off my X10 just because delay in X10 software upgrade as hardware is more important for me.
I will still wait patiently for the Android 2.1 Upgrade.

I'm pretty sure most of us here purchased this phone with the notion that, it would be updated at the time that SE stated. No one here is being a baby for being disappointed because SE couldn't keep their word and I'm positive no one said they didn't like the X10. Regret buying ? Yes. Dislike the phone ? No.

Well luckily for you SE returned to the previous timeframe with the delay. They originally said that we would get the 2.1 update in Q4, then they moved it up to Q3 and now it's back to Q4.
So a release in Q4 is exactly when SE originally said that the update would come.

Come on man, they just launched the X10 in the US. With 1.6, HIGH END? I was expecting FroYo. I still am, not from SE. The only reason i'm not dumping it, YET..
Its like Alienware selling a HIGH END system with XP and you cannot install Win7 and no upgrades...
IF the phone was 2 years old I would buy the story. ITS NOT!

An official blog update is more then enough for me to take it as a promise.
just like the MT issue it was never stated on the blog that it had it so they could state it was never officially announced.
its exactly this kind of treatment which gives them a bad name. Why didnt they just keep it at Q4 originally?
Fair enough they would have been flamed for been Q4 but we would all be looking forward to it now instead of feeling let down.
I am even doubting a Q4 release now.
Expecting Gingerbread 3.0 on the X10 would be crazy but FroYo??

+1 The phone as it is is a great phone, the only issue is the company that made it.
iv had my x10 for 2months, loved it but now im bored of it,iv been offered a trade with a nexus one, shld i do the trade? hopefully someone here has both(lucky basterd )

Well i have one in my family(My brother)..
Its not so different than X10(apart from screen,camera and Android version).. I would strongly suggest to stick with your X10 and wait for next generation devices to hit the market.. You will have more to play with once 2.1 rolls out for X10 or we have some good news in Dev. thread..
If you are the type who ***** and moan about Android version in the X10 then do yourself and us a favour, take the NexusOne and never comeback here, but if you're not bothered about its Android version and appreciate what it has to offer and has over the others then stick to your X10

If it's a straight trade without paying extra $$.. then go for it.
I believe you can resell it (if you don't like it) for a better value compare with X10 (at least in our market).
If I were offered the deal, I'd take it...I'm looking for a similar trade, but haven't found any yet unfortunately...
I think you should just wait for the update to come! Maybe your thoughts will change if you get 2.0 Ik hope my X10 will feel brand new after the update!

im trading with a typical end user, takes care of his phone, makes phone calls, loves taking photografs so he rly doesnt care about things heavy users need, coming to think of it its rly easy to trade ur phone

If you want the design and the slick UI and don't mind waiting for updates then keep the X10.
If you want to have 2.2 as soon as possible for the speed improvements and flash 10 then go for the Nexus.
Simply go for Nexus One.............
Remember, its harder to type with Nexus One than with X10 because of smaller screen
Just stick to X10, Nexus One looks boring and ugly...

I traded away my nexus one after it got froyo for a X10.....I haven't looked back! X10 is better imo.

Having come from the N1 to the X10 I can tell U IMO the N1 is nothing special & as a phone was actually worse, outgoing sound quality according to friends was terrible. Maybe they fixed some issues with the recent 2.21 update but I think U will be disappointed with the N1.
Both the same imo. You will lose bigger screen for multitouch and that's it.

X10 sounds terrible to me too. so let's consider this even.
nexus one is the google developement phone so you are guranteed the newest updates (always the 1st phone to obtain updates) and it has MT
another factor is that im a big fan of physical buttons on the x10 vs the ones on the nexus one
You have to ask your self why you bought your X10 and then you can decide and consider every thing.

Because the Desire has smaller screen, amoled, 5mp camera, its ugly compared to x10 and it doesnt have real multitouch! It has the same dual touch that N1 with the cross axis problemhas and its absolutely the same with the one that x10 will have. Also Htc phones are known for bad cameras and bad audio quality so i dont think any Htc is better than any SE, and if you think that is the case wth did you buy an SE phone? Now gtfoh we dont need trolls like you. And to OP i think you should post in Market and not here.

SE Phones are way better, they just can't keep up with android fast iterations.
Anyway, I'm enjoying a very good implementation of android 2.1 on my Xperia X10i now.
About multitouch, i guess this is the same problem the nexus one had when i got multitouch.(Just guessing)

If you had a Desire Z I'd immediately trade mine. Heck, I'd almost trade for an original Desire if it were new but you live a little ways away (I'm in Canada) and we probably don't have matching bands anyway.

Well you come here to an x10 forum and post uselless coments like htc is better than se.. no one asked you and everyone has opinions regarding whats better than what. Because htc is build better thats why the owners of the flagship device DHD are complaining about the really ****y speakerphone the missalined unicover, the really bad camera, the headphone jack on the bottom, the space gap between the battery cover , camera and the unibody and the screen edges raised? And thats what you call built better? Anyway lets stop this useless posts and please dont post tings like that in the future. I'm holding out for next year as my work may be subsidising some handsets for staff, and they tend to be good on these things, I'm hearing up to 50% off from HR at the moment. Of course, I am also risking the handsets they have being old and grey...
But that's the chance you take when your sick of paying loads each month on a contract to get a good phone.
Back to the topic, Samsung's screens are just amazing. I was thinking about getting the S2 a few months back. I just never really was a Samsung person either and the Prime looks great. It's a real hard decision for me on whether to wait or get one now.
Specs look good, but not as groundbreaking as I was expecting from the new "Google phone". I suppose that might be due to the fact that most apps/games will run just fine on current hardware and they haven't really begun to support dual core properly yet. So no point in expanding the hardware when it will price the device out of the market for no real gains.
