Defy is not charging to 100% - Defy Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just buy a motorola Defy and because i am a n00b  this phone has CG7 rom software ... so now i find i am stuck on that....
i install CM10 Quarx ROM but when charging it will go until 90% or 95% ... and Battery HD say 90% and 4.167 V ... if i charge the phone closed it will go 100% but the same voltage is reported ,,, wipped status battery dont help and even FIX battery 1500mAh not fixed ( Fixed 1st time when showed 100% but after go again to 90%....) deleting the battd.bin and other files from root folder and replaced with another one dont worked too
so my Defy is GREEN lens with DEFY+ CM10 Quarx.... any suggestion how can i fix ?
sorry for my bad english

Did you try running the battery from completely full to empty? usually you need a couple of charge cycles to let the smart board on the battery reset itself.

now i change the battery... i buy one from DEFY+ 1750mAh
but now is stay always at 100% but only 4002 V ....
i must put patcg again from 1700mAh ? or reinstall the ROM ?

Try toe calibrate your battery

one more thing ....
if the battery of my green lens DEFY is 1500mAh and in Battery HD when reaching 90% and green led say`s is full charge i have normal voltage 4.167 V
so is just a software bug and dont matter because my 90% of 4.167 V battery will discharging normaly like was 100% ? :good:

Can anyone upload batterystats.bin??

I have calibrated my battery at 4175mV with calibration app. I let it drain and then charged till 4171mV without any break yet it gives me 1 hour battery life. I have seen in others forums that by replacing batterystats.bin with fully calibrated file, it increases the battery life. So anyone with good battery life and calibrated please upload it for CM7. It is located in data/system. It will help everyone with bad battery life.
PS: I am pretty sure my battery is not faulty one, just not properly calibrated.
Thanks.

after you calibrate battery with app...batterystats.bin gets deleted...so i suggest you to fully discharge battery till phone shuts down...then fill it up to 100%...and then again draining it....your system needs some time to create new batterystats.bin....so for the first 3 cycles it may drain fast...but after that it should get stable...

Scrap that, looks only replacing is option. So want to know if my battery is in warranty and I want to replace it, will I need to flash stock ROM or I can just hand them only battery not whole phone?

If your phone is not more than 6 months old from buying date.. then your battery is in warranty.
you see service center people are most probably leaned to soo-off an customer complaint so they'll probably looking for problems with your phone or might say battery got damaged and stuff like that..
so on a safe side, go with STOCK firmware and deny any damage done to battery, just say it doesn't give backup and i want a replacement.

IMO replacing the batterystats file wont do anygood, as it depends on the battery health and the usage of the original phone...

16% should suffice for tpt with cm7 flash. But I don't think it will be enough for the first boot.

I think after a tpt,the battery should be getting charged while the phone is off. I don't think there is need for a rom flash for battery to charge.

So Saaransh9, what about your probleme?
My phone seems to charge but in around 6 hours (2,30 before) and its look like there steps in charging: at ~10% and ~50% it stop charging (become cold) and restart a long time after.
I have tested lot of cables and energie sources but the probleme is very random :sly:

Off your tab and full charge and then switch on and use it till it is dead ....

What do you mean by "switch it till battery is completely down" ?
And do we switch off the tab when we fully charge it the 2nd time?
There are free apps on the playstore called "battery calibration" that basically erase your battery config file and allow the ROM to re-learn the battery usage, etc. Very easy to use, charge your battery to 100% - then click the button on the app, it erases the file - you unplug the unit, and use it normally. The software will build a new file
Your unit has to be rooted for this to work, and I have read that it does not really do anything, while others swear by it every time they flash a new ROM.
Do some searching - read some of the posts and details on them, and make your own decision
Good luck,
Regards,
Calibre battery is myth in all modern devices! It only erase battery usage data..
but FYI, its pretty useful on some devices!
i have xperia which has pretty erratic battery life..so clearing battery stats really helps!

the problem can be the battery, even if it's a new one.
I tried two other batteries, and the problem had continued.
I think the other ones was fake/old batteries, but sold as original and new.
Thanks for the help, the problem is solved, I just had to do full sbf install for 3 times. Now my mobile is on for about 26 hours using the new battery. (On 4.2.2)
Maybe I had problems both with the old battery and the battery files on the ROMs.

I have been experiencing similar battery problems running Whiterabbit 2.1.1 on my Green lens Defy Mb525. Which 4.2.2 ROM are you using Jinx? If I flash a new ROM and recalibrate the battery is that likely to fix it? I'm guessing sbf install is the same as a full factory reset. (forgive me, I'm a beginner when it comes to all this!) How come you needed to reinstall 3 times?
I don't know, what solved my problem, but the fact is that I reinstalled the sbf three times than updated to Quarx's latest 4.2.2 nightly than I got it right.
My phone just run out of power after 3 days 4 hours. Good luck!

Thanks for taking the time to reply Jinx.
3 days is excellent! I flashed sbf twice, had some trouble running Jellybean ROMs without serious lag, so am currently reverting back to 7.2, running 'Cyanmobile experience'. It runs smoothly, but still encountering the battery drops, so its somewhat of a mystery!
I'll keep experimenting.
I have a spare battery, and an external wall charger. Currently swapping between the two to last through the day with enough juice!

Somehow, even for me, after 3 sbf flashes, CM10 is really smooth and there are no problems so far. Oddly, after the second sbf flash, CM10 was quite laggy.

[Q] CM10 Bugs on Defy

First : I would like to thank all you people for your exceedingly awesome work .. Thanks alot
Now I have installed CM10 by Quarx on my defy and twao bugs are ruining the phone
Wifi Bug which catches weak single when i am very near to the router and can't come any closer :/
Battery Bug Also .. My mob.'s battery works fine from 100% to 70% normally then it jumps tp 40% then 20%
another bug but isnt that important , battery displays like 70% , 80 , 40 no 44 or ,56 or any numbers in between
So if anyone could tell me how to get rid of those bugs , I will be thankful
Sorry for my english
WiFi bug Is known.. Check the thread. About the battery - I think your battery is worn out.. Get a new battery.

If your battery is more than 1.5 years old, then most likely you need a new battery. You can try battery calibration or start from scratch.
