anyone?
Android should support certain VPN protocols (pptp included) out of the box. It does on paranoid android and i suppose it does on cm.
Is there simply no menu entry for it or does it throw any error message?
Which VPN client did you try?
Try
OpenVPN for Android
this uses an 4.x API for VPN and should work with every ROM above this version.

There is menu entry but you cannot connect to any PPTP vpn server. I have tried it in CM10. It worked in stock very well. Are you sure that it works in PA?

Has anyone found a way to install openVPN on the aria (and get it working)? I have looked around but haven't found anything that I can get working.

I can confirm that it is working perfectly on the CM6-RC0 FroYo ROM using the "OpenVPN Settings" app from the market. I've not been able to get it installed much less working on any of the Liberated ROMs. CM6 has kernel support for openvpn and I'm wondering if that's what we need for Liberated, a modified kernel that supports openvpn.
Hey Attn1 any ideas? I bow (humbley) to the Aria ROM master...

Yep... Got it working... I was going to wait for an official Froyo ROM, but I decided to flash CM6. I also had to install OpenVPN settings to get it to install my certificates, etc. Works great! And all this was after my work tech support guy told me it wasn't possible to do VPN from my phone and that the servers would immediately kick it off the network.
Also, as a side note. CM6 is pretty cool! I don't know why I was waiting.
As far as getting it to work on 2.1 (I am a noob but did a lot of research). You need a the tun.ko driver and the OpenVPN bianary. I found the tun.ko for the aria, but couldn't get it to push through adb. I kept getting a "not enough memory" error. I've never been able to push to the system folder (yes I had root) with adb on the stock rom. Not sure why. CM6 solves that problem!
Also, installed TightVNC on my home laptop and AndroindVNC viewer on my phone (both free) and now I have remote desktop!
I wonder if I will get in Trouble for installing it on my work computer???

Can you share what tun.ko you tried for 2.1? And you can push it when in recovery mode and mount system partition.
I was able to set up OpenVPN on Cyanogenmod but like liberated better.
Thanks.

I can confirm it.
I am using Zdizihu's Beta 4 and I am not able to connect to my PPTP Server.
The logon seems to be right (see my attachment), but after 1 minute this error message appears: "Unable to connect to the network".
Using Android 2.1 this is working like a charm.
OpenVPN could work but VPN at wireless& network menu it is not working after sometime no Err connection, this with all 2.2 FW
Only 2.2 from MIUI Tim 1.8 VPN is working but he stop it.
Hi Peeps, anyone got tethering to work in infrastructure mode or Bluetooth in PAN mode? If so, how?
Barnacle works but it only create ad hoc mode.. and I cant seem to get bluetooth to work. Ive tried wireless tether but says netfilter cant be accessed. I guess we need a kernel that supports it. Any help would be great. THANKS
Haven't found any solutions, but I ended up patching my other devices to support adhoc mode. What are you trying to tether to your xperia?
Sorry, I have a question on the same subject. How do I tether an Android 2.2 phone to my X10 running stock 2.1? Ironic, I know

You have to install a program like barnacle (free on the market) but, don't if you have to root.......
I got it working on my old 2.1 ;-)
To have it to work in infrastructure mode, I think you must have the librairy compiled so, a custom firmware (not all have this)
the resolution are so simple.
buy a native 2.2/2.3 phone, such as ARC, cheap Samsung Galaxy mini etc.

Do you mean that some custom firmware can offer infrastructure wifi hotspot, and the stock 2.1 cannot?
I am trying to tether to Asus Transformer. Anyhelp would be great. Anyone? how bout the custom kernel? does that support netfilter?
Hi guys,
I am not able to connect to my university network based on Eduroam. Any solution?
Try to re-create connection. For me this works.
Delete stored connection/s and refresh. Works in most cases.
works for me with minicm7 2.0.7.
Thanks for your answers...but it doesn't work with ttls and pap

Anyone can fix this problem? I' ve tried with several roms and i can only connect to these networks by the stock rom. The problem is with ttls and pap connections

I believe, that it is related with wpa_supplicant binary. Personally, I cannot use my own WPA2-EAP-TLS network on X8 with GingerDX. Anyways, it worked with FroyoBread ,but reconnection was not possible without reboot - probably fast-reath error. I am not into compiling binaries for android, otherwise I would just download first .src.rpm from mandrivaand take this one instead.
How can we fix the wpa_supplicant binary?

I have the same problem. I´ve tried multiple ROM´s but never got eduroam working while it does work on stock.
I dont know, how to fix this, but I can use my private Radius server to dump some nice data (logs etc.). Of course, I don't know, if it will work with eduroam networks, but I can test many authentication variants (TLS, TTLS, PEAP) on both sides (client and server).
Hi everyone
I have an issue with Adfree app from the market, if i use it by pressing Download & install Hosts it is blocking the VPN connection and if I make Revert the VPN work fine..!!
is any one have the same issue with Adfree ..??
and how I can solve it..?
I am using Android Revolution HD 6.3.2
I have the same issue with Android Revolution HD™ 7.0.0
Sorry wrong section .. I well post it in the Q/A section
Try using AdAway.
Ads are ok
I don't mind ads, just like I don't mind buying apps.
Might be configuration error.
I had the same issue, this may be due to the error in configuration, hence it would be good to check out the settings once more or contact the vpn provider to get settings...
