Boat Browser was working great for me until recently. Now I am finding that it is hanging quite a bit when loading web pages. I'll type in a web address and/or click on a favorite. It will start to load the page as that little blue bar will start to go across the top of the screen, then it just stops and hangs there and nothing else happens with the drawing of the page. Sometimes I let it sit there for a couple of minutes and nothing happens. Then I'll pop over to the Chrome browser, enter the same exact website, and it pops up on Chrome quickly.
Any advice on how to fix Boat. I realize there are other browsers out there, but I really liked Boat (umtil recently!)
I also use Boat as my default browser. Luckily, I read some of the reviews on the latest update and have avoided upgrading. I can't suggest a fix to your problems but I've posted a copy of of the previous version of Boat Browser (v. 5.1) which is still working great. You could uninstall the latest and revert to 5.1 until they release another update.

Thank you very much for that. I didn't realize the update was causing problems. If I use your zip to install, how do I prevent Boat from automatically updating?

It shouldn't update atuomatically unless you've set it up to do so. You can disable this by unchecking "Auto update apps" under Settings inside the PlayStore. After that, you may receive a popup from Boat every once in awhile asking to update but just ignore it and check for updates manually.
P.S. I can't say with 100% certainty that the newer version of Boat is the issue, but by testing the former you can at least narrow down the problem.

The user may also wish to clear all browser cache. Settings > Clear Data (clear everything). This may help with slowdown and/or browser crashes.

Its getting really annoying nowsince it happens almost every time I use the tablet. It just closes for no reason. When I open it up again, it just launches a new Google page.

Are you using the stock browser? What system configuration do you have? Since you don't have any information in your signature, it will be hard to help until this information is posted.
Edit: OK, check out the thread above, seems to have good info...I didn't get to the end to see if a solution has been found, yet. But in general, when looking for help, make sure you post your system configuration, and whether you may have done something...install a new kernel, or update an app which might be in conflict.

Sometimes I'll be in the browser on a website and the browser will randomly shut down and take me to my homepage. No message pops up saying something went wrong though. I just got my tablet yesterday and already this has happened 7-10 times. Does this happen to other people or am I the only one? Is there anything I can do to fix it?
I have the A501, but my browser has done the same thing a few times. It only seemed to happen when i had a really bad connection though. Don't know if that had any factor in it. Usually its fine though
same here
I think its coding on the website.this happened far less with the new dolphin browser but I like stock browser better.
Giggles are for blonde chics back off there mine
No guarantee that this will work for you, but you could give it a shot.
It very well could be coding on the page as was suggested earlier. Especially if it always happens on a particular site.
For your applications that are force closing or are acting buggy, try this procedure to see if it may correct the behaviors:
Go to Settings >> Applications >> Manage applications >> All tab, select the application that is giving you problems, and press the Force stop button if the application is still running and then to wipe the data press the Clear data and Clear cache buttons as well.
NOTE: THIS WILL RESET THE APPLICATION AND ERASE ANY APPLICATION STORED DATA UNLESS ITS SAVED TO MEMORY.
If this does not correct the issues, then try uninstalling and then reinstall the application.

It happens to me from time to time, usually when I'm looking around on failblog for some reason. I just go to my history so I can easily go back to the last page I was looking at.
Stock 3.1, latest update.
Its an old and known problem. Unfortunatly 3.1 didn't solve it. Switching off Java does but thats not a satisfieing solution.
Browser keeps shutting down
I'm having the same issue right now and can't seem to use the browser for more than 2 mins its really getting on my nerve. How can I view video when the JavaScript is turned off? For once, why can't this device not have faults regarding basic functions?

It seems that a good question here would also be, "What browsers are you all using? And have they all shown the same behavior?"
I have the default Chrome, then I also have Firefox and Dolphin. I know there are others as well.
my tab had this issue as well. i notice that when adblocker is running it doesnt happen near as often. i suspect pop up ads are responsible. your experience with failblog makes me more sure.
Hmmm..... I don't ever have that problem with the Dolphin HD browser.
This happens a least once a day for me. But it happens randomly, on any page. Even if i just try and open the browser to the home page it'll occasionally close on its own.

Ok so I have the newest marketplace and it has an annoying bug. When I click the install button in the top right before the page of the app has loaded fully (screenshots for example) it will keep saying "loading" and it will not go to the page where I have to confirm my download, till I close the market in the task manager, and then to wait for the whole page to load before clicking install. Anyway to resolve this issue?

try wiping the cache of market through settings if you can
This is a known issue. Its a bug or something in market version 3.1.5. Lots of people on different handsets have it. There is no know fix. Some have reported that clearing the cache helps others not.
The big point to note is that not everyone has this issue. Could be region related or something but its an known issue. Different roms seem to have no effect on the bug. Its been logged somewhere on the google android issues blog thing.
Some people have downgraded the market version and then frozen the market updater (using titanium backup) to stop it from re downloading. The older versions dont seem to have the same issue (they may of course have other issues)
Im personally going to live with it and wait for the next version which i hope fixes it.

why dont you all just downgrade your market till they fix it? anyway there is a new market update 3.1.6
Guys. If you have problems with market you should uninstall updates and use the older one. no problems at all. I allways hated the new market. but I will have to get used to it sooner or later.
I like the new app-market actually. But one time when I uninstalled the updates, it wouldnt update back anymore.. So if I were to go back to the old market till they release an update, how could I update it to that version again.

Hi
I'm also tired of this but. In order to solve problem then it occurs, I use "Fast reboot". It boots the hole phone in 2 seconds, and after that I can use Market again (until next time it hangs) LOL

I've only come across this problem sometimes when dealing with updates for installed apps, usually if I wait a while and try to update the app again the page loads and I can install the new version.
I ROMmed my TF101 as soon as I got it, so I cant comment on if it did it before, but now, regardless of the ROM (revolver/krakd), pretty much any browser will randomly crash while Im browsing.
Is this normal?
Mine did this stock, and still does on all roms. No its not normal. I'm guessing its a bug in honeycomb.
Scribed in blood using XDA Premium
same thing happens to me and on my samsung captivate too. interesting...
Try clearing cache and history in whatever browser is malfunctioning

Yup...not often...but it happens...can't wait to see how stable ICS is when it gets here.

the browsers in Honeycomb is a JOKE.
crashing all the time, i have used 10 browsers and they do the same quite often.
imagine writing a long forum post...the nerves...
generally honeycomb is so bad,it is unbearable.
lets see how ICS will be...
Dolphin for pad and firefox have given me the least grief but as everyone else says hopefully ics will make browsing better if it does my browser list may change again but at the moment i dont even have stock deleted it because its that bad!!!!!!!!!

i forgot where i read this, but there's a way to stop, or at least reduce the browser crashes. In the address bar, type in "about:debug" without the quotations and press enter. then go to settings in the browser, and select "debug" from on the side. Uncheck everything except "show debug console." That's it.
EDIT: found the site. actually, it says you only have to uncheck "Enable OpenGL Rendering," but if that doesn't work, then just follow what i wrote above. http://smartadopter.wordpress.com/2011/05/22/tip-improve-honeycomb-browser-speed/

It seems like this needs reapplying after updates, as well, as it gets reenabled eventually. (Or did for me.)
Boat browser could be the answer
I olso had problems with slow connektion, forceclose and no responding with Asus and dolphin and other browsers.I have playede with Android since the first HTC Hero and have tryed all browseres out there.. I realy like Dolphin. but it is slow. and just stop and forceclose without reason with my Tranformer.
Then someone in a Android forum in December toll, that "Boat browser" was very fast and without noticible bugs. After 2 month use I can tell that im totaly agree !
Boat browser is my first browser choice, and today I only use Dolphin when I need Google translate (as a plug-in)
Go and try Boat with our Transformer, I think, that you realy will like the speed and stability. Writing in forums is olso much better then the original and Dolphin browser- still not perfect... but better... I hope that ICS will fix this problem.
There is a secondbrowser from Boat callede Mini, but Im not sure where difference is...
Sure, Boat is very fast and users are giving it amazing 4.5 (!) total in Market, but it olso need more like plug-ins. The firm behind said that they will give us the option soon.

Got the update notification yesterday on my X Style but after installation, I noticed that regardless of what browser I use, the phone lags. I tried clearing all data via the chrome settings and restarting my phone but that didn't fix anything. The lag is really noticeable on every site I visit. It definetly did not do this on Lollipop.
Browsing on the phone has now become really irritating. Anyone else experiencing this? Is there a fix?

WTF.. is this happening to everyone on this update 24.11.18.en.US? That sounds like a significant issue..
I downloaded the update yesterday over Wi-Fi after taking out the SIM tray because it wasn't showing up on T-Mobile but haven't installed it yet because I keep seeing people complain about browser-Wi-Fi-call connection issues.. where is the update downloaded to so I can uninstall it to avoid the annoying reminders if there are so many issues..

Reinstalled Chrome but that did not work. I've tried other browsers such as Firefox and a handful of others but they all perform the same.
Every single site I visit now lags and stutters during and after the page has loaded. On Lollipop, I've never encountered lag/stutter doing anything on this phone. I'd usually have 5-10 tabs open and the phone would still fly. After updating to Marshmallow, sites such as XDA, OCN, Reddit, and basically all the sites I usually visit that loaded and performed fine on the previous Lollipop install now lag and stutter very noticeably.
The MOTO X STYLE I've got is the 32gb version bought from Handtec in the U.K, and I'm on o2.
Reading through this thread and many others, it's clear that I'm not the only one experiencing problems with the new update. Just wish Motorola would fix it already. They obv test new versions before release but I just can't understand how they messed this release up so bad. Lollipop was amazing on this phone, how could they screw up Marshmallow so bad??

It is frustrating..do Nexus devices also have such update issues?
Could try to contact them at: https://motorola-global-en-uk.custhelp.com/app/mcp/service?g_id=5141&session=LBEOPUDm
Unfortunately "You cannot downgrade to a previous software version after installing this update" according to https://motorola-global-portal.cust...prod_answer_detail/a_id/109124/p/30,6720,9541 (I'm in USA currently on a T-Mobile SIM) so my downloaded update will likely go uninstalled until the update issues are figured out.. Anyone know where the update is downloaded to so I can delete it or how to stop the reminders to install it?

I just noticed this on youtube, and some times even the keybiard lags while using a browser. It justs sucks.
I am also seeing this problem. With MM, Chrome seems to stutter and lag much more on sites with heavier graphics and ads/pop ups.
I don't have this kind of problem, but i did a factory reset as soon as the MM upgrade was over, i think it's always a good idea to do so after a major release. My browsing experience is as smooth as before with facebook website for exemple as i don't use the application.
Nevertheless, I have also experienced troubles with youtube, some video starts with only the sound, i have to relaunch the application to find a correct behaviour.

It's the same hardware with same OS update so why is it affecting users so differently? Is it some software conflict caused by impacts of different apps? I'm assuming MM will prompt users to update their apps specifically for MM (where available)..
I'm resisting installing the update to MM until this is resolved..
