[Q] Sound Search for Google Play - Nexus 10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I noticed that i don't have all of the widgets that my tablet should be having, So i went on to search for the Sound search widget and guess what? No-one in canada can have it because we don't have Google Music.. That really pissed me off, What are your thoughts on this?
Do you guys have the widget or am i just tripping?
It would be great if you guys could give your location (Country) and if you have the widget or not..
The APK for the File works but you can only identify the songs, You can't buy it (Google Music)
Google, Why you gotta be like this?

[How-To][JB]Enable Play Song Search

Hey all!
I dunno if it was posted before, but anyways after searching for the cool song search widget that jb introduced I've found the way to enable it.
apparently google has inserted the apk but decided to freeze it.
*just found out that this widget is frozen only for non-US users.
Step 1:
Get in Titanium Backup (or any other app like that) and look for "Sound Search for Google Play"
Click on it, and press "Defrost"
Step 2:
Go to Widgets and add Song Search widget, thats it.

[Q] GPSD?

Hi guys,
I just got my Note 4 few days ago and everything fine, but lately I'm noticing that the device is getting warm and battery life is not as good as I thought when I read battery is 3200 mAh. Looking at the processes I notice something called GPSD consuming even more than OS and screen.
This is the list of apps that I have installed on my phone:
Phone
Contacts
Messages
Internet
Gallery
Camera
Music
Video
Clock
S Planner
S Note
Scrapbook
Email
Calculator
Settings
Voice Recorder
My files
Galaxy Apps
S Voice
Evernote
Chrome
Gmail
Drive
Youtube
Google
Voice Search
Play Store
Google Settings
Swiftkey
PlayerPro
Swarm
Aldiko
Spotify
Elevate
Tagstagram Pro
Word Lens
WPS Office
Outlook
Amazon
Banesco (online banking)
BG (online banking)
Repost for instagram
Metrobus (related to the public transportation in my country)
Photo Grid
Dropbox
QQPlayer
Shazam
Foursquare
Instagram
Whatsapp+
ES File Explorer
Samsung Gear
And the rest of the garbage apps that came with the rom such as Claro Juegos, Claro Music, 3DTourViewer, Calendar Storage, Facebook, Flipboard, Google Play Books, Google Play Games, Google Play Music, Google Play Newsstand, Hangout, Live weather, Maps, PEN.UP, Portal Claroideas, S Healt, Street View, Talkback, Unified Daemon are already turned off.
Does anyone see an app that might be causing the problem? BTW, I'm from Panamá and my carrier is Claro Panamá, so you see a lot of Claro garbages apps preinstalled.
My phone is not rooted (because of warranty stuffs, etc). Please if someone has had this issue before and know how to solve it I'd appreciate it. I've done pretty mucho all I can (factory reset, flash rom via odin)...
Anyone, please?
Turn off location services or at least switch them from high accuracy to power saving mode. You dont realy need hps to be on until you use navigation program

Already did both of them. Nothing seems to work.

Google maps pop ups.

Ex iphone user here.
How can I get Google maps to pop up notifications while navigating?
Back on the iPhone, if I was using another app, maps would notify me the next turn was coming up with a notification balloon.
Anyway to get that on my Nexus?
Curious what you're doing with the phone while driving that prevents Google Maps from being open? I have never used an iPhone, but I'm thinking you might mean how the screen turns on and shows the popup like it does for a text. I don't think this is possible with Google Maps and/or stock Android at this time.
If you are trying to keep the screen on music like Spotify or Pandora, you could try something like AutoMate (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bitspice.automate&hl=en) which has a dashboard style home screen that can show music info and maps info in one screen. It emulates Android Auto on the device and works very well. I use it every day.

Google released the song identifier via Google app in India!

I found this widget of the Google app yesterday and when I used it I was amazed that Google started offering their song identification (similar to Shazam) in India too..It still doesn't work via voice command..But still it's useful and I thought it might be useful for you guys.. (screen shot attached)
In case you are wondering what widget it is.. It's the one on the right of the screen with the symbol which looks like the quaver.

Where are the ringtones stored? Bluetooth lag?

I have a 2014 Toyota Corolla LE.
I had a Nexus 6P. No issues at all.
I broke it and could only afford to replace it with a Nexus 5X. Project Fi.
Bluetooth lagged. Mouth moving on YouTube is off from what sound is playing.
Also, every time I started my car and switched to bluetooth a ringtone would start playing and wouldn't stop. You stop it and it starts back up again. You can play YouTube or Bandcamp, but the ringtone still played. This was a custom ringtone of my own I had dropped in the Ringtones folder. Not sure what the correct fix is, but changing my ringtone and deleting the file fixed it. I then stored the file in a different directory and re-added as a ringtone problem lagged.
Just got the LG V20 tonight. I was hoping it was just an issue with the 5X, but now seems it might be an LG thing? New phone does the same thing. Bluetooth lag. One of LG's ringtones plays on repeat every time I start bluetooth. I have no idea where they are stored. The ringtones folder is empty.

I'm surprised that the phone is playing your ringtones. Do you have a third party app for playing music? I'd think the built in app would know to not play ringtones.
I think maybe if you put an empty file in the ringtone directory (I think called nomedia) it will stop playing the ringtone.
Of course the next problem may be that you won't have privileges to do that without root access.

Thanks. This is a brand new phone. I had absolutely NOTHING installed except for what came with the phone. I bought the phone, the guy said it takes 5-10 minutes to port over a phone number. I walked out to my car and my old phone already had no service! It was that quick! So I unboxed this phone and turned it on. The first thing I did while sitting in the parking lot was to remove all bloatware that it would let me. It had games installed and other crap. I didn't do any updates until I got home on WiFi.
The thing is the ringtone didn't start playing right away. I was listening to music from YouTube on my way home. I stopped for a bite to eat, drove home, and I don't remember when the ringtone started, but now every time my car starts (and it's on bluetooth) the ringtone starts playing on loop. Last night my Aunt/Uncle was over, so I couldn't park in the driveway. Cars aren't allowed to be on the street after midnight, so eventually I went out and moved my car. My phone was in the house and the main screen was off. When I came back in the house the ringtone was playing and the player was on the little screen.

Thanks.
I decided not to delete the ringtone in case I ever want it for something.
Let's see what happens now I set a custom ringtone of my own. When I had the Nexus 5X on, I had this dance song that I cut a piece out of.. it would loop "you can fight, but you can't always win" over and over.
So I looked. It's Google Play music that is opening. It plays the LG Life Is Good song over and over. Putting a nomedia file did not work.

Wierd.
You might check settings in Google PLay, and see if you can specify a path for it to play music from on your phone. If music is kept in a specific folder, say Music, and set the app to play music only from that folder, maybe that'll help.
I don't use Google Play Music, so I'm just reaching here.

I do not use Google Play Music either. In fact, I don't store music on my phone. It's on a USB drive directly in my car's dashboard. It never leaves.
Anyway, I may have found a fix, but it's 4:30AM and I can't exactly go outside and make noise, plus I am tired.
I opened the Play Music App and in settings there's something that says "Manage Downloads". On the bottom it shows the LG Life Is Good sound. I hit clear queue to get rid of it. I'm confident this will work, but I'll know when I wake up in 9 or 10 hours.

I'm confused. You said it is Google Play Music, then you said you don't use Google PLay Music.
I think any Google apps you DON'T use should just be uninstalled. As far as that goes, I uninstall all apps, or disable them, that I don't use.
On another note: I find it interesting that nobody else is replying here. I am finding the community for the LG V20 to be much less active than what I experienced in the Samsung forums. Also related to the community...no stickies for things that are so commonly needed.

I do not use Google Play Music. You cannot uninstall it. It comes with the phone. Might be part of Google Play. But anyway, you cannot uninstall it unless you are rooted. There is no root for Sprint LG V20 far as I know yet.
Other apps you cannot uninstall: Facebook, Instagram, Facebook Messanger, Sprint Spot, and some other Sprint stuff. I don't use any of that stuff.
While there is an "uninstall" button.. that is the most annoying feature. It uninstalls updates only and brings it back to the version that was installed with your phone, then it's annoying because it always shows you have an update ready.
Anyway, I haven't been outside yet to start up my car, but I think it'll solve my problem.
Interesting. As you might have guessed, I don't have my V20 yet. It's disheartening to hear some of those apps that can't be uninstalled. I wonder why they install apps not theirs that are obviously available on Play Store.
I guess I'll be forced to root.
I hope things work out for you. Keep me posted. I may find myself in the same boat.
You should be able to disable it.

Although, I still find it interesting that Google Play Music is part of the rom.
I think using Force Stop and Disabling is the only way to stop the madness, as I cleared out the Playlist and it automatically added my current ringtone.
Anecdotal but this sounds familiar to me. I feel like my husband may have been complaining about a similar issue with his phone playing some default preloaded music file when it connects to his car's Bluetooth.
The thing is.... He has a note 3 and a 2014 Ford Focus ST. So... Hmmm.
I'll have to see if it's really the same thing. I'll try to remember to ask him about it tomorrow.

I was previously with Sprint with an HTC One M8, but switched to Googles Project Fi, and now back to Sprint with the LG V20.
What I've noticed is it seems root seems to come out on other networks before they come out on Sprint. I can't comment on what software other companies pre-load on your system, but both times Sprint had 15-20 things. Some of it could be removed.. a few games, etc, but some cannot be removed so I Force Stopped them and Disabled them. I am unsure what comes back if I reboot my phone, but whatever for now I'll keep stopping them if I have to.
