ROM to RAM transfer

Hello,
I have Qtek S200, I have 64 MB RAM and 128 MB ROM and 2 GB storage card.
It gives me 20MB free RAM. I want to know how can I transfer some MB's from my ROM size to RAM memory or use some space from my memory card to put in RAM place.
I know it was possible in Windows Mobile 2003 SE but I am on Windows Mobile 6.0
Please help me, or just tell me if there is a way I can use ROM or Storage card as RAM? it will help me a lot in running some really good applications.
Thanks a lot, badly waiting for answer!
Thanks,
FAISAL!
i have browsed into Prophet Forums as much as i can but i havent stumbled upon a certain topic concerning your proposal. what i would suggest is that there are some good programs out there that you can install in your device that can help you manage your RAM efficiently.
Since prophet isnt GIFTED with such huge RAM memory space i would recommend you the following programs to install in your device ( some of them might already be incorporated in your ROM if your using the ROMS provided by experts here in this Forum)
1. Hibernate (www.oxios.com)
2. ClearTemp by Vicott Wong
3. CleanRAM by HTCAddicts
i will attach number 2 and 3 files as CAB and its up to you how will you set it up on your device. maybe a regular schedule for these apps to run on your device..
good luck and hope this programs help since Prophet Devices arent gifted with so much RAMS like other HTC devices do..
Cheers,

Benefits of Rooting the Htc legend?

i'm thinking about buying the legend and i heard you can root it. i was just wondering wat r the benefits of rooting the legend because you when you root other phones it's because of their ROMs but the legend runs Android 2.1 which is great. So what else can you do with it?
the benefits of rooting a legend would be the same as rooting any phone. so its not just the legend in specific.
look up the specifics of benefits of rooting in general, not just on the legend.
also you can only root the legend if its running 1.31, if you get one from virgin mobile or bell they will be running 2.03.
this isn't android 1.3 or 2.03 its the boot loader version or something like that
storage readings
Is the ability to install applications into whichever drive one wants one of the benefits ?
When i install apps now the phone doesnt ask me which drive. I was checking via quick system info and I got the following results--
Internal storage -total 185 mb free -57mb
System storage - total 240mb free- 41 mb
I think the readings are not good ?
Do I have too many apps ?
How can I improve my situation ?
Thanks
.

beside rooted your Legend, you need to apply app2sd so yo can install app to sd. with darktremorapp2sd also you can move dalvik cache to sd. I just use my internal storage about 25 Mb only, I installed mote than 20 app there.
Thanks Besfen and jul644 for providing useful info.
I uninstalled many apps and I found a remarkable improvement in the first storage but the system storage remained the same. How are the two different from each other ?
Yes, the the number of apps installed did not affect the performance of the phone in anyway even before i uninstalled them.

[Q] swap memory for x8 - is it possible

I am tired of using link2sd, and low memory of x8.
Is it possible to make effective swap file for x8?
That will give ability to install everything in ram, and then it will be moved to swap, so no linksd is needed.
Also all software which need more than 90 mb of free memory can get that memory becouse system lib will be moved to swap file.
As i know guys from Cyagen made even support for it, but it should be activated.
Is any rom builder can add swap support to their roms?
1. Supposed be in general section
2. We have native app2sd or you can go to cyanogenmod settings then go to applications then select install to external memory.
Hope i help

Not unless the bootloader is cracked.

The swap file does not work that way. Swap is used to augment the RAM. The X8 has:
1. RAM space - memory to run programs in. ~176MB
2. ROM space - Internal Storage - ~212 MB
3. External Storage - Your SD Card.

You can, theoretically, use up your entire RAM to run an app. The Android System, has a "smart (???, others might disagree )" way fo handling tasks in which it "caches" background apps until they are called again. Although this is also periodically cleared. But some apps are required to stay in RAM, these are responisible for keeping your phone working.
Google "Android VM manager " and the "Android Memory Manager" if you want to learn more.
In short, having a larger RAM or using a swap file will just "imrpove" multitasking performance. notice that i put the word "improve" in qoutes.
Honestly, I've tried on Froyobread v015, and it lagged the whole rom down like sh!t >.<. After removing it was I able to have a decent fps. You can try it for yourself by using swapper on the android market or CWM recovery .

Did you verify it was working. Open up the terminal app and type in "free" without th quotes. It would show you the disposition of your RAM. if swap is zero then its not working.

[Q] I can't install "bigger" (over 20mb) apps on my unrooted SGY.

My friend sent me some apps, and when I want to install them, some of these are working, but if an app's size is over about 20MB, my SGY says after 2 minute install: Application not installed. :crying:
I tried a lot of times, but still nothing..
I have 80 MB free space, so I don't know why my phone do this..
Please help..

some questions for you:
- are you sure the apps which won't install are compatible with the SGY?
- the 80Mb free space is on your internal memory or SD card?
- what is the capacity of your SD card?
- do you have any task killers installed?
- how are you trying to install the apps?
He found these apps for SGY, the 80 MB is the internal memory, and I have a 2GB SD card with 723 MB free space
I don't have any task killer, and I tried to install it with [email protected]

GREETZ WITH TAP A TALKED BEATZ!!!

[Q] A couple of questions ???????

So i have a list of stuff that i couldn't do so im seeking ur guys help !!!
1. How to use more than 445 mb of system size when partitioning ...
i use magldr 1.1.3 and when i flash TWRP i modify the flash.cfg file and i write for example
500 mb in system and 10 mb for recovery and 44 mb for cache
...what do i need to do use more than that i always use [datatoext] so i really don't use the onboard nand
correct me if im wrong but its only used for system date and cache right ... or is cache take a part in the ram nand
2. what ever rom i use it always shows 410 mb of ram will im using a 1042 rom / 576 ram t-mobile HTC HD2 with
t-mous radio version 15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14 so is it right or is there missing ram ..
3. I have used a lot of roms like each pixilfreak rom ,parnoid android , slim rom , miui roms ,aokp roms
and i have 120 / 130 mb ram usage with custom launchers like adw , nova ,apex .. good right !!
4. How do i know for sure that the 200mb swap partition that i created is being used ...
.. and then an of subject question i have a nokia lumia 920 so is wp on the hd2 any where close to that i know that the difference is like
moon and sun but i just want a couple of views cause i want to try wp 7 on the hd2 but i don't like one bit of it ..
and the 920 i gave to my sis just so u know *
1- 445mb is maximum for any hd2 (eu or tmous) afaik, never seen someone using more on tmous so i don't think it's possible
2- it's 576mb ram, but android shows 410 because parts of it are for video memory (128mb i think) and the rest is for system/kernel etc so you can use 410mb
3- is 3 a question?
4- that depends whether you created the partition correctly, and if the rom SUPPORTS swap (it should be an option in installer)

well i don't know about that
but there are 2 commands, swapon and swapoff in terminal emulator which you can use but they need linux knowledge and i never used them before so try google-ing for what you want to know

your phone is using the onboard nand constantly, since that is where the system is running from.
Re:swap - personally i only use roms that either don't offer swap, or have the ability to choose not to activate it. The (usually very small) performance gain is hugely outweighed to my mind by the increased load/decreased life of the sd card.
