Hi, I'm using parandroid but I've seen the low brightness is more light than aokp for example...
And if I let the display on , a little bit before it turn off in automatic mode the brightness reduces...
So question is:
Is it possible set lower brightness?

i wanted to go a bit lower on the last step but forgot about it - i had to adjust these setting when the calibrated kernel came in, right now its using the original LG settings. the low end is def too bright.

Try the app lux. Best app i found for brightness controll.

I use a widget called "Screen Filter". Very light and simple. Doesn't stay in memory or processes once off.

brightness levels are controlled by the rom, not the kernel. usually the vendor/manufacturer of the screen controls these values, he's also the one providing the kernel. in our case thats LG. google screwed up the kernel by cranking gamma to maximum, thats why it looks so horrible out of the box. they had to compensate and changed the auto-brightness levels, too. if you calibrate a kernel you're still bound to these values. for pa i calibrated the kernel and reverted googles autobrightness changes, but the low end is not perfect yet, needs to be a tiny bit darker.

moles any plans on including the manual auto brightness adjustments setting? I think its in aokp?
the implementations that i have seen are too complex in my opinion. i think cm is the originator of what you mean. its one thing to say you're close to stock but then your users trip from simple/intuitive android into customization hell that needs books and tutorials to be managable. last time i used it i had to set fricking lux values, dunno if its still like this. i'd rather get the values right straight up.
R: [Q] low brightness
with cm I can change lux values?
But I prefer pa...only..

Hello everyone, there is another application or to increase the minimum level of auto brightness?
Inviato dal mio Samsung Galaxy S2 usando Tapatalk
So you wanna make the screen darker than it can go normally? I dont think you can.
I actually read it to mean the opposite (increase the minimum level would surely mean make the lowest level of the auto-brightness mode brighter?), but if what you said is OP's intention, Screen Filter should do it.

I second Screen Filter. It's configurable by percentage of reduction in brightness, and since it's an app rather than a mod, it can be turned off when you don't want to use it and used only when you want. I find it helpful and simple to use.
I wanted to find a way to increase the brightness when you type in the dark or with just a little light because the current level is really low, I hope that I explained well
I run a stock rom and don't like to change it..
is there a tweak to make the brightness sensitivity higher?
I mean, i want it to brighter in normal light conditions and dimmer in darker ones..
in normal auto brightness mode the brightness is not fully high in fully lighted rooms nor its dim enough to read on bed.
never had this issue before with all of my android devices which are more than 20
i use stock rom and franco kernel
Try Lux Dash on play store ... you can teach it how to behave etc ... great app

Guys,
I've just ordered N4(or N5) (coming from S4) and would like to know if the vibration intensity is adjustable like it is on Samsung Galaxy S phones?
Thanks, Ash
Vibration intensity on the Nexus 4 is ****, very weak IMO, and not adjustable in the stock ROM.
But luckily in Cyanogenmod they have added an option to increase the intensity. The default seems to be at 50%, but with CM10.1/10.2 can be increased to 100%... I have no idea why the default by stock Android was set at 50%

So annoying why manufactures don't include as it's only a software mod but an important one!

I agree!
Just did a quick random search on playstore, Vibration Config by Dunnow Software, seems to be an app that allows this to be adjusted without the need for CM or other custom ROM. *requires root*
edit: and it works, once root permissions are given. Cool app!
Nexus 5 Gamma Reverse Engineering App is out!
(This app will work on the common sysfs interface, so any kernel using this interface will be compatible with this app, not just my kernel)
Please download my public betas here:
http://faux.androidro.ms/hammerhead/beta/
Franco Kernel is also compatible here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2508284
ALL Gamma registers are accessible with new APK!
@myfluxi Thank you again!
After hitting apply, it's best to turn screen on/off to see the results updated!
Please help decipher the meaning of these values and write them down in a concise manner so we can all understand what you've done and tried.
My TODO list for this FREE app:
Once things are figured out, I will add:
1: "Set On Boot" options to automatically apply the new values on startup (right now "set on boot" can be dangerous and lead to black screens).
2: Perhaps some basic profiles
3: Maybe other cool stuff if time permits
Min Value is 0 (NO NEGATIVES)
Max Value is 255 (Don't Go over it, it will break stuff!!!)
App Change Log:
1.0.6 - Initial release with RGB register access only
1.0.7 - full access to all registers
1.0.8 - add "set on boot" feature, add webview link to 2nd post below, enabled landscape mode.
1.0.9 - updated to latest kernel driver. add old version warning. add action bar for quicker navigation.
1.0.10 - updated to latest kernel driver. removed unused fragments.
1.0.11 - updated to latest kernel driver with stable sysfs locations!
Progress So Far:
Gamma Tabs:
columns => goes from left to right, so 1st position is most let and right most is 5th position
row => goes from top to bottom.
I got VERY CLOSE to ideal Gamma 2.2
Positive and Negative Polarity tweak added. This allows for greater RGB gamma control and balance!
Overall Color Gamma Curve (row 1 column 1 of RGB Gamma tabs) => 0 is highest, 255 lowest
Red Gamma Positive=> 0
Green Gamma Positive=> 73
Blue Gamma Positive=> 78
Red Gamma Negative => 0
Green Gamma Negative => 73
Blue Gamma Negative => 78
Gamma Color Brightness (row 2 column 5 of RGB Gamma tabs) => 0 is highest, 255 lowest
Red Gamma Positive => 100
Green Gamma Positive => 117
Blue Gamma Positive => 121
Red Gamma Negative => 107
Green Gamma Negative => 117
Blue Gamma Negative => 121
Overall White Point Brightness => 0 darkest, 255 brightest
Gamma white point, Column 1 => 30

yeah. this is for the advanced users or tinkerers who like do not mind tweaking their phones. If you are not comfortable with this, you shouldn't participate.

Play with green gamma settings by lowering all settings by 6-10 points
Gamma 1 to 255/25/33/33/33
Gamma 3 to 10/33/33
Gamma 5 to 0/32/32
Gamma 20 to 200/33/6/0/6
Gamma 22 to 200/33/33
Don't remember if I modified Gamma 28
Gamma 31 to 200/70/60/55/55
I didn't touch blue gamma or red gamma much, modifying values to see effect now.

I think an explanation that this won't brick your phone but just require a wipe to fix a messed up screen world be useful to allay some fears. A flashable zip to restore to stock would be wonderful too. I'm gonna experiment nonetheless but others might need some reassuring.

Yep.. It's nothing like the note 5 in sunlight
Yes please, even my old S5 is easier to see in direct sunlight.
Yeah it's not great at all in direct sunlight
Wow even if adaptive display on I do not have problems with the screen brightness in sunlight. Maybe I just don't use my phone is direct sunlight as often as I think but I never have to turn my brightness above 50%. I find 100% with adaptive brightness off to be way too bright.
I would not risk any mod to increase brightness it will probably destroy your screen.
I hope this will help ! https://m.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/3xexxo/nexus_6p_high_brightness_mode/
Hello everyone, please take a look at the Original Development thread. From the top of my head, Franco and ElementalX kernels have this capability, it works wonders in direct sunlight.

Confirming, kernels include this capability, as well as the ability to overclock or underclock other system specs (not required, but possible). Speaking for high brightness mode on Franco Kernel using Franco Kernel Updater, it's maybe 15% brighter. Noticeable, but not dramatic. With this combination (FK + FKU), you can't simply increase the maximum value of the brightness slider. Instead you can either turn it all the way on or off manually from within the app, or have it automated (you can't adjust the settings, e.g. how bright, what threshold it triggers at, and it's still all the way on or off with the automatic setting).
Can't speak for elementalx, but I hope someone delivers a more elegant solution. EDIT: having just watched a video about elementalx, turns out that kernel allows you to automate the trigger with tasker. Again, it's still either all the way on or all the way off. Judging by the video the brightness didn't appear to differ from franko kernel's high brightness mode.
It's the same on all kernels. I brought the feature to this device and also created a handy widget( check my sig). The beta version of the widget has an auto mode
