You must shut off windows 8 driver signing security. It installed fine after i did this.
Click Advanced Startup Under The General Heading Under More PC Settings
After Reboot Click Troubleshoot Advanced Options, Advanced System Setting
After Reboot Type Number To Disable Driver Signing Security
Then Load Up windows 8 then install. This time it will ask you weather or not to install the drivers.

Your solution allowed Tether to install for me. Do I need to do the same thing for the Samsung ADB drivers?

I can get Tether installed on both my Windows 8 Laptop and my Galaxy Nexus device (running 4.3, no root) and I used to be able to use Tether with no issue about one year ago. Now, however, when trying to initiate Tether, this is what I'm presented with:

This is just repeated infinitely until I manually stop Tether on my computer.
Since this is the only thread that comes up when searching for Tether issues on Windows 8 machines I could find, is there anyone who can help me figure out how to get this back to working order?

.NET Framework 2.0 is not installed on Windows 8 by default.
To install it, go to Control Panel – Programs – Turn Windows features on or off – Check ‘Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1′ – OK.
Note, that .NET Framework 2.0 is included into version 3.5.

Not too sure, I'm no developer, but I believe there may be issues with the adb drivers. I installed PdaNet+ (same type of app.) and it specifically says Win10 compatible. I allowed it to overwrite the adb drivers with the driver's it determined to be correct and the PdaNet+ app works and tethers to my laptop. I am unfortunately in an area right now with only 2G service so I will not be messing around with it too much tonight but maybe tomorrow I can see if it is going to be a replacement or maybe the new drivers will work with the CM Tether software.

Well i hope they can get too or soon. I dont think its my adb drivers

Its *not* usb drivers...
...because
adb devices
and
adb shell ps
...work just fine (after authorising).
Justin C thinks its changes to .Net on the ClockWorkMod forum (I can't post a link unfortunately).
Specifically I think the exe is failing to create the virtual network device (TAP) which then gets passed to run.bat
run.bat should then open up the windows firewall but it just fails with very little output when given no TAP index.
So it could also be driver related. I tried briefly adding some third party Windows 10 TAP driver but to no avail.

[Tool][Windows Only][Root] Android Reverse Tethering 3.19

Android Reverse Tethering for windows users.
Tethering is the ability to surf on your pc using the 3g of your phone
Reverse tethering is the opposite : surf on your phone using the ADSL of your PC. No Wifi or 3G connection required.
==>Troubleshooting (FAQ) <==
Since a lot of users don't read the full article before asking for help, I will start by this section !
Not yet compatible with Android 5. Work on progress. Don't ask me when it will be available
Android 4.3 and upper : You must install the Connectivity hack (see Connectivity hack section) before connect .
Android 4.3 and upper : You must connect your phone/tablet to a working wifi or 3g once after each boot before using reverse tethering !!!
This work only for rooted users and with Windows. Don't ask for linux or for some fruit operating systems !!!
The tool is not compatible with "CrossBreeder" , "adaway" or other tools that change the host file (removing localhost)
Tethering and reverse tethering (this tool) are not compatible at the same time, it's then not possible to turn your android phone as a wifi hotspot.
If your device is not listed in the "select a device" dropdow list:
Ensure Usb debugging is enabled. See "Before starting the tool" section
The ADB subsystem is sometimes not working properly. Click the "Kill ADB" button (on Tools)
Your device is perhaps not installed properly. See your device manufacturer. You can download a generic driver from google here : http://developer.android.com/sdk/win-usb.html.
Windows can detect your device as a "Media Transfer Protocol" (MTP) or "Picture Transfer Protocol" (PTP). When you connect the usb cable, you can receive an "Usb" notification. Click the notification to change this parameter. If one don't work, take the another one...
Click refresh or restart the tool to detect your device.
If the connection shutdown often, try another usb cable
Proxies problems :
Corporte proxy. The windows application is not able to traverse proxies.
The good news is that you can use some applications like FreeCap , sockscap and proxifier.
You must start the androidTool from one of these launchers, giving proxy adress and port.
Thanks "edgd1er" for the information.
Android 3G proxy. Even if 3g is desactivated, your provider (APN) proxy may still be used by applications.
The windows tool is not able to communicate with your provider proxy.
Note that only a few providers include a proxy. You must remove it manually.
The tool will give you informations on how to do it when detected.
Installation :
Unpack the zip file. This zip files contains the windows part, ADB and the android APK.
Before starting the tool :
You must install drivers for your device.
If you don't find drivers for your phone/tablet, check the Universal Naked Driver
Other interesting tool to install Adb and drivers (32/64) : [TOOL] ADB, Fastboot and Drivers - 15 seconds ADB Installer .
Some screenshots are availables in this thread to install the driver.
Ensure you have debugging enabled on your phone :
Settings > Applications > Development > USB Debugging > Turn On
Ensure you have root access AND SuperUser application installed.
Change the superuser settings (Menu -> Preferences -> Notifications part) :
Uncheck "Notifications" label to display "Do not show notification when an app is granted Su Permissions"

AndroidTool
The AndroidTool.exe is the windows part
The low level communication tool (ADB) is included in the zip file.
AndroidTool will try to find ADB in c:\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools\adb.exe
If not found he will use the provided one.
The first time you use the program :
If you want to use another version of ADB, clik "config" and in the first tab enter the path to the ADB
Select the DNS server to use in the right list. On complex system, some dns can be detected.
Start reverse tethering
Just click “Connect”.
If it's the first time you use the program, This will install the latest android package and the dependencies (busybox and redsocks).
The SuperUser process may ask you to allow “Usb tunnel”
If the android process crash after receiving superuser rights, close the windows program and start again.
The android interface (first tab) will show connections forwarded to windows.
Others tabs are just for debugging. Send the log on this thread in case of problem.
Start your browser
Google chrome will complain that no connection is available. Don’t care. That work.
Firefox , opera and dolphin don’t have problem with that !!!
The current version of the application can’t forward low level ICMP packet (PING).
From Android Os point of vue, there is no internet connection.
Command line prompt :
The windows tool is a "One click" application. Just click the "Connect" button.
But you can add parameters to directly connect when the program start.
Here are the supported commands : Device:xxxx (where xxxx is the device id), Connect, Disconnect, KillAdb, LogToClipboard, Show, Hide, Quit
Parameter sample : Device:123465789 Connect Hide
Create a second shortcut with Disconnect Quit parameters to stop connection and close the application.
Connectivity hack :
This will install some low level program to install a "fake" Wifi for browsers and google play market.
Don't worry, I didn't brick my phone and tablet during the development.
The Xposed framework author and me are not responsible for anything you do with your phone/tablet/rice cooker.
This work for android 4.X, but an experimental version of the Xposed framework for Gingerbread made by liudongmiao can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=44034334#post44034334 (no support from my side)
On the windows program, go to tools tab and click "install hack"
Launch the Xposed Installer (you just installed) on your android and click on "Install/Update"
Go to the module tab and check the HackConnectivityService (see screenshot below)
Reboot the phone
Done!
This work for market but also for some other programs (some games,skype,hangouts...)
For older android 2.x or 3.x version :
The application want to have an active 3G or Wifi network interface.
Some market applications are tagged "Wifi" only.
To get around this problem, you can activate the 3G BEFORE starting reverse tethering, all the data will goes to the usb.
Tips : You can connect to some wifi hotspot not protected by a key.
It's only when you want to surf that the hotspot ask you a user/password.
But, at this point, we have an 'active' connection. Market download should work after starting reverse tethering.
Not fully working application but work if you install the HackConnectivityService on android 4.x:
Market download
Spotify
Skype. (not checked yet)
If someone know another one, post a reply !
History :
Version 3.19
Added some rights for sdcard access.
New windows icons.
Version 3.18
Fixed Xposed HackConnectivityService module. You must click "install hack" to update it
Small bug fix.
Version 3.17
Updated Xposed framework installer 2.4.1
Small bug fix.
For Linux ,Mac OS X , I recommand this guide (from @phamthanhnam ) : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2287494 .
This required entering a lot of manual commands on both android and the PC each time you want to connect (reserved to power "geek" users).
This work also for windows, but much more complicated, compared to this "One click" connect tool. I let user chose the solution he want...
I will not respond to email or private message. If you want support, post a reply on this forum.

If the device is not listed, it's not a problem related with reverse tethering. It's a driver or installation problem !

Better is to configure the application to use the already installed ADB program on your computer :
button config -> ADB sheet -> update path -> button save
Then restart the tool.

I was hoping to use it to avoid using my data while playing games or when installing games with huge downloads after installing, but that doesn't seem to be the case yet. I see I can add ports for forwarding, but how can I tell what port a game uses?
This was something i was waiting but i could not use the internet from pc.
I have SGS1, 2.3.6. I dont get any error messages. Clicking connect makes it connect but status column always not connected.
Im on company network. Which IP i will use? Which port i will use?

[USB Drivers] Galaxy S GT-I9000 (Working on ICS)

Hello.
And bacon and spam:
I've recently upgraded my SGS to ICS (ICSSGS ROM) and started to develop a simple application.
So, now i've got to the point that the emulator starts to show its limitations, so i need to debug directly on the real device.
Well, i've been trying to make ADB recognize my phone, tried several usb drivers from several sites, none of them worked.
After several hours spanking windows, it's finally working (yes! almost 6 AM in the morning!).
What matters:
So, to anybody who have the same problem as i had, do the following:
0. Uninstall any drivers that you've tried before.
1. Extract the zip file that i've uploaded to anywhere you like.
2. Enable debugging on your phone and connect it to PC throught the USB cable
(Just connect it, don't mount)
3. On your computer, click Start -> Right click on "Computer" -> Manage
This will open the "Computer Management" window (it might take some seconds to load).
4. Click "Device Manager". Now you should find your device in the list. It must be really easy to find. It's called something like "GT-I9000" or "GalaxyS" and it has a yellow warning sign next to it.
5. Right click on it and choose "Update Driver Software". In the window that appears, choose "Browse my computer for driver software". It then asks you where is the driver.
6. Click the "Browse" button and choose the folder you extracted from my zip file.
(If you didn't change it, it must be called "Android Composite ADB Interface")
7. Click "Next" and cross your fingers. If you're lucky, it may work for you.
Final notes:
1. I'm not responsible for ANYTHING. Whatever you do, it's your own choise to do it. I guarantee absolutely nothing.
2. This is was tested on Windows 7 - 64 bits with Team ICSSGS RC4.2 ROM and Semaphore ICS 0.9.1 Kernel.
3. Have fun.
4. If you try this, please answer the topic and tell everybody if it's working for you (mentioning your Windows version and what ROM you use).

Missing file when installing driver on windows 7 x64
Hi,
I have recently installed the most recent Dark Knight ICS 4.0.4 build to my Samsung Galaxy S. The ROM seems very good but I'm an android app developer and need to be able to debug my applications on the device via USB.
I have tried the driver provided in the thread which won't install due to a missing file according to the Windows 7 x64 driver install wizard. The exact message is displayed after step 7 and says:
"Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it."
"Android Composite ADB interface"
"The system cannot find the file specified".
Is there a file missing in the package? Has anybody managed to get this driver working?
Cheers,
Ben
Does it say that it doesn't find a controller or that is there a missing file?
Anyway, please try this installer and let me know if it works for you:
http://www.mediafire.com/?v70501cxbzzdvc2
What's wrong with the Nexus S drivers available with Android SDK?
Google USB driver, R4 developer.android.com/sdk/win-usb.html
The SGS will present it self like that when it is running ICS/CM7/CM9.

Dont work for me.

Nevertheless thanks for your approach. I'll test if it works with the SDK Updater.
I'm going to test in my desktop this weekend to check if it works with it.
I have the same problem, but with WIndows 7 32 bit. Drivers from discusion doesn't work. Don't you have some for 32 bit?
I found SDK Components on developer.android.com, where is Android driver which suppose to work, but unfortunately ODIN still do not see phone.
I also have the same problem but mine is worse because my phone is completely down after I tried to restore from a GB ndriod backup failure , phone won't boot , cannot boot into recovery only in download mode but no way my 4 x computers would detect the phone now ....tried using heimdall in linux as well as sdb, no go....so sad...help...

Using Google USB drivers finally worked for me. They can be optionally installed with Android SDK using SDK manager (extras). After installation drivers can be found in <sdk>\extras\google\usb_driver.
Just follow the instructions in the first post to find your device from device manager with exclamation mark. Need at least one reboot to work and I also redirected the driver installation process to Google usb driver directory but now ADB finally recognizes my SGS (MyICS, Android 4.0.3).
Edit: Operating system Vista 64-bit
[Currently stuck in "error: device not found" while trying adb push -command. I will update if I find a workaround. Probably something to do with inf-file.]
For alternate .inf -file (optional):
Google "usb-drivers-not-working-after-flash-latest-rom-ota" and see post #12 to see alternative inf-file. Some have managed to make adb recognize the device with that file, but I have at least this far been unsuccessful.
Edit: Problem above was caused by me being stupid and trying to use push in shell, which caused phone unable to locate host system folders. I don't know if that inf file has anything to do with drivers working now, but go ahead and try it if doesn't work with the original .inf
I got my i9000 recognized using the latest drives from the Google sdk
That‘s great

This worked for me
The very important thing is that newest Google USB driver is in
Code:
[B]<android-sdk>/extras/google/usb_driver/[/B]
location, not in
Code:
<android-sdk>/usb_driver
It really makes the difference !
these drivers only worked once...
all the other times killing and starting over adb i was getting error messages like "device not found" and "protocol fault" even though adb devices was listing the device online.
apparently i connected the phone to another USB3 port on my pc (front panel) and that was it!! it now works every time i type adb shell or adb devices.i no longer get any error messages.rather weird
anyway..i also wanted to be up to date with everything so i uninstalled all related software like the older java 6 jdk, Android SDK and the drivers mentioned above.
i followed the procedure below and installed all the latest packages:
latest java 7u5 JDK, the latest Android SDK (nstaller_r20.0.1-windows.exe) then ran sdk-manager and loaded http://developer.android.com/tools/extras/oem-usb.html#InstallingDriver google USB drivers rev 6. then installed these drives so i got the ADB composite interface on my device manager and it all works fine now.
I recenelty installed latest ICS , and SDK recognizes my phone as ACER ADB , when I'm pretty sure its a Samsung I9000 . I tried uninstalling the ACER ADB and install the one that the guy posted in the first post , and it didn't work , it said this driver is not compatible , oddly it reinstalled ACER ADB though. I can't even uninstall it at all , I removed all my Samsung drivers , and everything else I installed for Samsung , and its still there , I even tried removing the GOOGLE USB drivers , still there.
Neendless to say that the phone doesnt connect to the PC at all even though it says everything is alright. For example i got ths gPAD app , which uses the USB with Debugging to turn the phone into a mouse , but it says its not connected even though it is.

Hi
Are you sure you have ADB set up properly? You may want to get to know ADB here. At least run the devices command to see where the problem is. What you should try is restarting both Windows and your phone (we all know windows...). If that doesn't work you'll want to try a different USB cable and socket but as you are saying the device is detected by windows so the hardware shouldn't be a problem. A complete reinstall of eclipse may be needed as well.
There is an edit button so no need to post 5! times.
i fixed it by updating driver software in device managers..and selecting the google usb driver location i donwloaded via the sdk manager
thanks

Clockworkmod tether not working in windows 10

I have 2 phones, a samsung galaxy note 4 (tmobile) and a zte zinger (tmobile). One is a flagship, the other is a temporary replacement. I've attempted to get clockworkmod tethering working on both, but the tethering program wouldn't start. I'm on windows 10 as the title says, and I've done everything from uninstalling and re-installing clockworkmod tether on windows and my phone to disabling driver signature to re-install drivers for both phones, as well as replacing the ADB files from a fresh/latest install for ADB into the win32 directory to running it in compatibility mode and/or administrative mode. I verified my copy of ADB works inside C:\Program Files (x86)\ClockworkMod\Tether\win32 so I know it's not that.
Here's the only line (or 2) from the log output:
C:\Program Files (x86)\ClockworkMod\Tether
""
And then it stops.
Same here. I upgraded, and I can't uninstall OR reinstall the app either. It says I need to insert the CD-ROM for the software -.- Seems like an MS issue, but hell, who knows?
Sadly Koush hasn't made any updates to the app or PC software since February and seems to be ignoring all support requests (I've emailed, left a bug report, etc and got no response whatsoever). Windows 10 has definitely broken something with the tether, but without the dev's help I doubt it's fixable.
Just want to add that I am having the same problem. All i get is "C:\Program Files (x86)\ClockworkMod\Tether". Hopefully this gets fixed. I doubt Ill ask for a refund since Ive used the hell out of this app, but I do not want to buy another app just for Win 10.
Exactly the same here. Very frustrating.
Exactly the same here. Looks like a MS or windows 10 problem.
Hope the dev can fix it.
J
guess what.. same problem.. emailed and no response from tether anyone have a fix yet?

This really sucks. I only went to 10 on my laptop to test it out. Sadly its the only thing that uses tether. :crying:
*PDANet+ works great for USB tether. Not so much with the hot spot feature. The full version is $8 so eh... It works though! No root needed for USB tether with PDANet.
Has @Koush released the source for the PC side app?

Same problem - hello @Koush ! Any progress on this?
Thanks,

Looks like he took the money and ran. Very unprofessional. Everyone needs to remember if/when he releases a new app. I will be the first to say HELL NO. not getting my money.
Windows 10 android tethering apps
I'm on metropcs (t-mobile carrier) on the 'unlimited plan'. I came here seeking support for clockworkmod tether under Windows 10. I am not willing to 'downgrade' back to Windows 7 behind Clockworkmod's lack of support. I can report that the paid versions of both PDAnet and EasyTether work well enough. I would prefer Clockworkmod for the sole reason that it uses real/regular ADB as its middleware, so I can still use other apps like Vysor (to control my device) while tethered. Unlike PDAnet and EasyTether which seem to use hacked version of adb and prevent any other normal usb-pc connectivity (no regular adb apps, so no vnc/vysor). That's a big deal for me since I put my phone is an external antenna holster, because the android device is my sole source of Internet, here, and the ability access my phone via the computer screen makes my life easier. I hope CWM Tether gets fixed, but since they don't seem to care I hope someone comes along with a better product (using real ADB and more support).
Same here - doesn't work on Windows 10
@Koush - you gonna man up?
Guys, I've finally made CM Tether work on Windows 10!
Installation guide for Win10:
At first install CM Tether on your PC as usual.
Then get OpenVPN installer (you can google it)
Uncheck all checkboxes except TAP Virtual Ethernet Adapter in installator if OpenVPN isn't needed.
Install it.
Just run Tether as admin.
It worked for me, contact me if it didn't for you.
thanks
Thank you so much t1meshift! This one worked for me!

Good info, but rather than downloading the OpenVPN installer, get just the TAP-windows NDIS6 package instead.
filename is tap-windows-9.21.2.exe, available from same OpenVPN download page.
Then it works! Awesome.

QPST driver install...

Trying to get these drivers installed on windows 10 machine but no matter which driver i choose it always pops up "windows encountered an error while installing driver". im trying to get into qpst file explorer to see the policy_man folder for the carrier policy. im on havoc rom 11 and there is no engineer mode(*#801, *#800) or log kit since im not factory rom. ive tried disable driver signature verify under advanced restart on the pc....no luck same error. ive tried disable secure boot in bios on pc....same error.
ive tried these steps......
1. adb reboot ftm
2. Install (in your smartphone) USB Gadget Tool (https://f-droid.org/es/packages/net.tjado.usbgadget/) and check this modes: ( cser.dun.O , diag.diag, diag.diag.mdm , ffs.adb , gsi.dpl , gsi.rmnet , qdss.qdss , qdss.qdss.mdm )
3. adb shell su setprop sys.usb.config diag,diag_mdm,adb
4. Disconnect and connect your phone usb cable.
5. Go to Control Panel – Device Manager. You will see some unknown device. You should look at the so-called "Oneplus 8T", ignore the others.
Right click on the first "Oneplus 8T" –> Update Driver –> Browse my computer drivers -> Let me pick form a list of available drivers -> Click on I Have Disk -> Show all devices, browse then go to the Qualcomm Drivers that you download earlier. Then do the same to the other "Oneplus 8T". Choose 9018 for both unknown "Oneplus 8T"..
6. Add both ports in QPST Configuration. Only one of them is the one you are going to use. By clicking on EFS Explorer you will know which one it is by seeing X55 Driver in the description.
7. Change carrier_policy and carrier_policy.xml_Subscription01 files
8. adb reboot
stuck on step 5
Hmmm... You do have the regular drivers for the device installed as well, correct?
(ADB) works? Try this - (Let me know if you need 32 bit installer) No need to disable driver signing enforcement.
10.99 MB file on MEGA
mega.nz
64bit - If it needs a password it's GADGETSDOCTOR
If you're getting into the use of Qualcomm engineering tools check out the fine work of KL Joachim Schepke and the #u100 Crew to make QXDM5g and the accompanying Tools available, search QXDM5 , also includes driver autoinstaller.
Uninstall the old ones and reboot first, go actually delete the directory, Qcomm doesn't uninstall very cleanly.
Let me know how it goes,

I have tried this and no luck, this is preventing me from using msm to convert my 8t and possibly unbrick if needed. No matter how I install these drivers this is what I get after reboot
"Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52)"
msi laptop running windows 10 latest update

i was able to get device manager to show the device(kb2005) and update/install the driver for that....however, it does not show another kb2005 device, just shows 2 'unknown device'. when i try the update/install driver for the 'unknowns', i get the windows has encountered an error message
with only the one driver installed(shows qualcomm android modem 9018 in device manager under modems tab), i still cant get qpst tools to work without both drivers. in qpst, it shows the correct driver installed as active phones and shows under ports tab....and theres no port to add with add new port

Sorry I was traveling for a little bit - did you get this handled? Sounds to me like you need to make sure that your USB & or wireless debugging is active and not just charging, you can change it on your notifications to transfer files or something like that

Have you tried disabling Driver Signing Enforcement when booting into Windows and then installing the driver?

#3 command should start like this:
adb shell
su
setprop....
Also disable Driver Signing Enforcement, as you'll have to install driver every time you want to use QPST, with it enabled.
