I'm having a hard time all of a sudden charging my battery when I'm using my phone. This happens on any charger not just stock...has anyone seen something like this before on a phone?( I know its common in tablets). Any help would be appreciated...I would like to rule out hw issue but I've done a factory reset and its still happening...

It's most likely your charger is causing the issue. It happens to me as well. Try using a different one and make sure it's plugged in tightly on the phone and the outlet or USB jack.

Does it say this for anyone else? It used to say discharging.

guess they realized that "discharge" was the worst word in the english dictionary
Charging (AC)
Try unplugging the cable from Charger and the tablet and unplug the charger from the wall, then connect everything back up again. This fixes it fro me most of the time.

Yep just realised that after I updated to android 4.2 last night on my galaxy nexus. I thought it was weird!
So my nexus had been unplugged and without charge for about 3 weeks or so, I've been very busy at work. I try and connect the tablet so that i can use again and the screen flickers for an instant and nothing happens, I don't see the white icon charging animation and no response after that. It's my tablet done or is there a solution for this. Thanks to anybody that can help.

Ok, I don't really know what exactly the problem is. But I think the battery seems to be dead. because if it is still good, at least it shows the indicator light when it's plugged with charger.. If u have a simple tool to test battery energy maybe u can find out. or maybe try another battery..
Leave it plugged into the charger for a good while and then hold down the power button hard, for about 30 seconds. See if that forces it on.
How long did you leave it plugged in for? It may take a few hours...

It was plugged for like an hour or so and no dice.
I think im screwed

Not sure if it would help your specific problem, but my thread covers every fix known-to-man for issues such as yours. Check it out if you haven't yet.

Try leaving it plugged in overnight. I once had a laptop battery die on me, had to plug it in for like a week before it would turn on again.

Your device is hibernating to prevent further damaging the battery. Plug it in... boot to bootloader... select power off using the volume keys... the tablet will now charge normally

hi
My problem is solved, I have a friend who had the same problems with the tablet Nexus 7 16GB, the back of the unit opens easily with just a fingernail to open a case as remote and actually the battery plug is not fully inserted into the camera, a little bit of nail to reconnect the cable and now my tablet displays well 100% load.

Yup - there is a sticky that covers this method, and all the other methods as well. For anyone else suffering from similar N7 issues, be sure to check it out. Either go to stickies in this Troubleshooting section, or use this link.
Hi guys,
I seem to have run into an issue yesterday, my n7 will no longer charge unless I power off, it doesn't get recognised by my PC either but bizzarely it recognises my USB otg, anybody have any ideas or is it time for an RMA?
I've tried various ROMs and kernels but without luck...

Have you tried a new USB cable? Our just swapping the same one from PC to wall adapter?

Yes, I've tried the stock cable for my n7 and n4 and both chargers too, its very strange

I've found that mine charges a lot slower while powered on, almost barely.. I just turned it off.. eventually I got sick of it and replaced the battery and it charges great now..

I got the battery for like 24.00.. like new but used, works like brand new though. It's easy enough to replace, the back just pops off the n7 with a little pry. While I had the back piece off, I sprung the 2 contact points up and out some so the wifi antenna got better connection. Went from 1-2 bars to nearly full across the entire house..
My N7 is completely dead, won't recognize usb. Before it went completely dead, it was working just fine, but it didn't charge. Can anyone tell me what should I do now. I can't go to a repair center because I won this device on an xda giveaway... Stock 4.3 Rom dual booted with cm 10.1 using multirom

Meh. I live in Serbia, I don't think that anyone will replace it for me... Btw, I tried reconnecting the battery cable, and before my battery was empty, the pc wouldn't recognize the device. I tried the oem cable, multiple outlets, nothing...

Yes, replugged the battery cable, tried powering off from bootloader, but I think my issue is specific because my nexus 7 was working just fine, apart from not charging. I also can't acces the bootloader, I only get the empty battery sign. And I get the same sign when I want to turn on the device.

I've jsut found out that my charging cable(factory cable) is screwed.Sometimes it charges, sometimes not.My question is:can it damage the battery,or any hardware parts of the phone causing permanent issues?Of course, now i changed the cable to a good one...
If it sends the wrong voltage then yes but I highly doubt that since the USB Plug controls the voltage with the resistors and such.

No you are completely safe.
Like said above, the usb cable just transfers power. The power source decides how much it charges your phone.
That's why charging your phone with your computer/laptop takes alot longer then using the wall charger.

Yep, it does 500Mah each port but if only one port is in use on a 3 port laptop then it would be 1500Mah.
