I have been having issues with text messages. It's an intermittent problem, my Nexus 4 will just start given me text message errors when I try to send a message and I won't receive messages either. The weird thing is that this will only effect one number. I can text any other number just fine while this is happening. It is really annoying because it lasts anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour and half. Rebooting the phone does not solve the issue.
Every time this has happened it has always been the same number and I not sure if this is significant or just a coincidence since it happens to be the number for the person I text the most. Also, while this was happening I texted the same number from a different phone just for good measure and it worked fine. A couple of times it happened when I sent a text message quickly followed by another with the correction for a typo.
I'm not sure if it's my phone or the network. My Nexus 4 is on T-Mobile's monthly 4G plan. Anyone else having this problem and does anyone know of a solution? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
What is the error it gives you?

I don't remember the exact wording of it, but it was a message not sent error.

I think I actually had it happen too, this morning...I sent three texts to a friend this morning (yep, she's on Verizon), and they call came through blank except for the word "page"....so I think this validates that statement.
EDIT: However, she's been able to get texts and MMS both from me, instantly and completely, for the past hour or so...maybe it's cleared up now.
My buddy on Verizon was also receiving blank texts from me earlier today but they're fine now...that's what they get for being on verizon
Is anyone having an issue where if they reply to someones text, the reply is listed chronologically before the previous message? I'm wondering if somehow the timestamps are getting messed up on my phone. It only happens sometimes, usually if I reply within 5-10 seconds.

I'm still experiencing this problem. Anyone else? </shameless_bump>
yes, here too, I see this today on 2 times, how can I fix this?!? please help!!!
It has happened to me also, however i noticed it is only with the default messaging app, so i use Handscent instead
this really annoys me
This has been happening to me ever since I had my Evo. I thought it would stop on the Epic, but it continues to happen. The only time I saw this problem dissipate was when I flashed a custom ROM to my evo. And it had the Stock SMS application on there.
Sprint really needs to fix this.
my theory is that if you reply to a message before the message registers as being "read," then the message will stay "unread" and remain the latest message while your response will go into the main list of messages.
if someone could edit how "unread" messages are checked and changed to "read," then this may solve our issue.
it only seems to happen to me when i reply within the same minute. if i get a text at 1:21 and reply at 1:22, im fine. if i get a text at 1:21 and reply and send it in the same minute, it seems to put my reply before their initial text. i dont think its reading the seconds on the time stamp.
Same here.
I can confirm that this happens on three epics

I went through 3 epics before i got one that is good for me, and let me tell you ALL of them had this issue.
I was having this issue... then I noticed it only happened while roaming.
I believe it may have to do with the sms time zone not being correctly handled by the roaming network.
i get perfect bars at my house (no roaming) and it happens to me there. i dont think it has to do with roaming.
I think the issue lies when texts are sent and received at the same minute, perhaps its not recording the seconds which is placing them out of order? It happenes to me when my friend with an epic sends me multiple texts in a row and it also happens to his phone as well.

It happens to me too. I was texting someone around 1pm today and the time stamp said 7:23 pm. I noticed it happened more frequently when I allowed my phone to roam too

bump..no fix for this?
Happens to me too. It use to happen on my BB too so i don't necessarily think it's the phone.
I'm on froyo 318 with performance fix
I just noticed that when I receive a text message, it would say that I received it 5 hours earlier. eg. my wife sends me a text at 6pm, I'll receive it at 6pm but the time will say 1pm.
anyone having the same issue?
thanks

Hi im also facing the same issue and its a pain as the message we receive is above the message we send.
Hope DELL releases a fix for the same soon.
the windows mobile os used to have the same problem, there was a registry tweak that fixed it... likely there is one in android... unlikely a dell specific problem.
anyone know where this setting might be?
I checked the settings and I couldn't find anything even change the time to military time still didn't make a difference
hope someone could point us to the right direction
Atrix - Alien Rom.
Apparently my phone is sending the same texts to some people over and over again.
My bill is already jacked up, any ideas to fix this?
This is a network level issue and not a phone issue if rebooting does not fix it.
You will have to conact your network
This issue has to do with the tower you're on. Sometimes shoddy tower signals can result in a mix up and your phone thinking a message insn't sent when it is. So it gets stuck in this loop of sending a message repeatedly. I would try turning your phone off, taking your SIM card out, booting up, turning off phone again and replacing SIM card.
edit: OH yeh and delete the sent messages before you do.
I hope you guys are correct because i remember having a problem with an old Motorola chocolate a white back which I purchased on ebay for my girl friend, I had to buy her a new phone from AT&T because the one I got her was spamming out text messages
I have had the reverse problem of recieving multiple (sometimes infinite) messages with my Atrix, i also believe its a tower problem. But I assure you, it is better to send than recieve.

Had this issue with sending a message to my sister. The problem is with the network the people you are sending to. Their network, (even if it's the same provider), is not sending message received data back to your phone. Call your provider and tell them. When this happened to me I made sure I wasn't being charged for the same international text message over and over. The constant repeat of sending the message will stop after 72 hours, as this is when the networks are set to cancel repeats for non delivery. I spent an hour on the phone with AT&T before they finally figured out the problem was network related.

I just had the same problem two days ago
When life sucks I just enjoy the head
I have the problem with incoming messages every few days. I use Go SMS and ill get one message over and over . Then no other incoming sms will come but outgoing will work. I usually find if I reboot with custom tethering APN on this will initiate the problem and also changing batterries from the BH6X to the BH5X seems to initiate it. Usually now pulling the battery and rebooting with the standard APN AT&T will fix the problem for me. Not sure if this is helpful but I was dealing with it a lot and I have had it happen once since the method above is used.

Hi guys.
An issue I noted was that my messages would appear above my friend's messages even though he messaged me first.
Does anyone else have this problem? A reboot seems to temporarily fix it, but I can't seem to pinpoint what exactly causes this. Thanks!
That is a problem that has existed for quite some time. It is something about gtalk displaying messages ordered by received time, but incomming messages use a different time than system time, or something like that. You can check that the messages are sorted by time, but incomming messages have wrong timestamps. It happened to my GFs phone once and the fix was checking (or unchecking) "automatic" in Settings>Date & Time settings. Very weird, I know...

PS: I don't have a Nexus10 yet, I'm waiting for mine, and never had this problem myself, but I know about this problem on many other phones as you can see in the link above.
