just wondering... is there anything that can extend battery life...? its not that good :/ what do u think best combination of rom and kernels is for best out of battery... thanks
We don't need another thread like this. I don't mean to sound rude.
It depends on you and your usage. And how much more do you want the battery life to last?

Get a big backpack and a car battery!!!

Hey folks,
I am giving two kernels out to test. Don't worry, both are quite stable. However, I am looking at some different settings to see which gives better battery life. So, in an effort to avoid any "placebo effect" results, I am not saying which settings these are just yet.
What I am looking for, if you folks could be so kind as to check:
Battery life between the two.
Performance between the two.
Neither of these kernels are overclocked.
Please test using the same governor between both, preferably Ondemand.
Thanks!!!

Ugh...you would drop this right when I just started doing a battery calibration.
Anybody test yet?
I am at work and can't till later.

I would love to help test, but I'd like to know if you have any good criteria for the testing. It's really hard to test something without any guidelines as maybe you end up using the phone more on one, or downloading or whatever, and both seem like 'moderate usage', but in reality they are quite different.
As a matter of fact, I'm having a hard time verifying the current draw on my phone, and knowing what is good or not good, in general.
Just use your phone as you normally would, for both.
Are these compatible with the new RRU?

Yes, any and all versions and ROMs.

Cool, I'll test both out for a day each and report back.
Kernel A has better battery life thus far here...
I get no 3G with A. That might be why battery life is better...B is fine.

How can you really tell how much better the battery life is in such a short amount of time to test?
This reminds me of a test that kmobs did back in the day for kernels on the nexus. Turned out that heavily undervolting the kernel has a negative impact on battery life. Where's jlevy at. I know he remembers.

Lol, that was quick. I'm thinking he wants testing to go a little more than 30 minutes with each.
I'll test out A for 12 hours and B for 12 hours, if you think that's suffiecent. That should get me through a full charge on each.
Should be sufficient.

That's correct. Stock voltage for the Nexus One was 975mV. Kmobs found that undervolting below 950mV had negative impacts on battery life.
Do i have to clear battery data everytime i switch kernels?

I just noticed with every custom rom I tried so far.. it drains a lot more battery than stock? is that normal? I even tried odexing the rom cause i i've read it gives you more battery and internal storage and it does give me a little bit more battery life.. but it's still not like the stock ones.. it still drains a bit faster? why is that??
try to calibrate your battery using cwm or an app

The draining nature of the battery depends on the rom and the kernel on how it optimises the usage of battery.
There are lots of tips to save battery. Google it.
You can use battery tweaks to get more performance in less consumption.
As there is no Ambient Light Sensor on Samsung Galaxy Y, I suggest you to adjust brightness often to save some life on the battery.
What I am hearing from you is new. I never heard that odexing a rom will increase battery life. I think you misunderstood it. Someone correct me if I am wrong.
You can follow a trick that is opted by me:
Charge your phone completely without disturbing.
Then use it until the battery reached 5% or nearby.
Then charge it again completely without disturbing.
This type of charging will help you get more battery life.
Press thanks if I have helped.

I agree. The key to save battery depends both on charging and the use you make of your phone. Battery saving tips are:
1. Disable animations.
2. Select a simple PNG, JPEG or BMP picture for home screen wallpaper, instead of a live wallpaper.
3. Adjust your brightness where you want to.
4. Use a launcher which doesn't consume a lot of RAM.
You can Google to learn more methods.
I hope I was helpful, if I was, you know what to do.

You can check this thread on XDA. Features every possible way of battery saving. Featured on XDA Portal few days ago.
I agree with the_pirate_predator
that charging should be done 100% without disturbance and again put on charger when battery is approximately 5-10%. It is also suggested for other batteries like vehicle, UPS batteries etc.

it depends on many things..like roms kernels.. tweaks u uses.. use a good rom.. cm7 roms are more battery friendly than any other roms..
I have the device more than 2 years.

What are you looking for then ? Ask at service centers or search Amazon for alternatives of that. opening a thread for this is not a good thing and i wont suggest same.
I was wondering if there was a rom that really is known for having the best batery life ?
Thanks.

No there is not, it's subjective to the user and what is installed. As every user installs different applications and has different habits there really isn't a best battery Rom.
Stock with tweaks is probably what I would say. No limits. Which is what i use, but again that depends.

You should read at https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-5/review there are threads for screen on time, light use endurance and standby drain. There are lots of posts with roms.
