As the question says, what Rom do you think has the best battery life? Your experiences, thoughts, etc. I wanna know what ROM I can get the most battery out of. Thanks.

In my experience kernel makes much more difference compare to ROM on battery life and its relatively easy to try few around (no wipe needed) just give 2-3 popular ones day or two and in weeks time you can come to conclusion

New OTA

Anyone using the new OTA notice any significant difference in the camera?
I know there was a whole new APK and libs for it, so it should be different. I just want to know without flashing
Devs are currently going through the new RUU that was just released a few hours ago . They are still sorting through the changes in the Development section . Information at this time is still limited but bare with them . Im sure they will find good stuff in them if there is anything good put into it . Now if they do something about the charging bug / battery issue *Ducks behind couch to avoid incoming objects*
What charging bug and battery issue are u talking abt?

The charging bug is when you charge your phone over night and unplug it drops to 95% or 90% right off the bat . Or the fact the phone doesnt charge extended batteries very well . NOW back on track LOL the OTA .

This isn't a bug but how the battery is designed to charge so the battery lasts longer. Been this way since the evo came out.

I just loaded this up to test the kernel power draw and man is it low. I'm talking about almost half of CM6 with Snap 7.5 which was already by far the best. I don't know if I'm reading the log wrong but it's only drawing 30 mA @ idle - Snap 7.5 is low 50's. This ROM/Kernel should have crazy battery life.
Maybe I'm a little tired but after taking 15-20 low light pics something seems much improved. Focusing is fast, and the flash doesn't blow out the picture or look like an 80s polaroid anymore.
Again, this could just be in my mind, I'll try to compare to some old pics and post the conclusion.
@creyc: I think you are right. The "nuclear blast" flash in low light seems under control. Also focused very quickly.
@Award Tour: How do you measure the drain?
where's the dev forum? I couldn't find anything in EVO 4G developers section. Can someone drop the link here?

Kernel for better Battery life?

Hi to all!
I have 4.1.1 XXDLJ4 and i'm rooted.
The battery life sucks(never used ICS) so i can't compare.
Is there a kernel who will give me better battery life?
Any suggestions?

I searched a lot.I unistalled many useless apk's ,disabled fast Dormancy(no need for my country) but the battery is the same or worst from my old Galasy S2 with the same things.
I think maybe it's kernel's problem that issue...
My phone is super fast now, better battery life from stock 4.1.1,smooth like butter but with the battery not to happy.
..... why the... what inspired you to make a new thread... search the forum mate come on follow the rules we don't allow these types of questions.

Why not? Battery life will always come at the cost of performance.

Try them -.- Most of them allow undervolting, so get one and undervolt your phone. E.g. I am using Siyah Kernel with 100mV undervolt and it works well.
Next time use the search button please

If that's the law sir, then the law is an ass. I'm always interested to hear the experiences of other people with various mods etc. If these discussions can't be held here, then where? The individual Kernel/ROM/Mod threads are hardly impartial (have you checked the Siyah thread recently?). So I ask again: where?
to be honest , i used my s3 one month with default rom , battery drain about 10 hours , and since yesterday when i rooted and flashed custom rom , battery still 78% (since this morning , with internet usage) , and lost only 1% last night (3g on) .
but i don't think the kernel is the most important for improve battery life , tweaks and optmisations are , so take care of choosing the good rom :good:
My batt drop too, custom rom+ siyah kernel.Never liked siyah cause this drainage but i cant just leave the sound tweaks it got.Im currently waiting the MIUI for s3 4.1 on xaiomi cause best battery iv ever got were on MIUI roms.
Freeze bloatware with Titanium Backup and sit back and enjoy very good battery.

If you want to discuss it in a discussion thread for a particular kernel, that's fine. It all comes down to reading and trying it out for yourself.
Plenty of discussion for it here about why it is not allowed.

To charge, or not to charge

So after three months of painful waiting, I will finally be getting my Nexus 4 tomorrow!
One question though: Is it necessary to fully charge the battery before using the phone? I know a lot of people (and the manual) recommend this, but what is the reasoning behind this? Lithium batteries don't have the memory effect...
Thanks
Iirc it comes aroubd 75% charged. I wouldn't argue with the manual. While Li ion batteries have for the most part done away with " memory". It's still advisable to follow best practices.
It will not make a difference. At all.

I remember Googling this for ages a while back. I think that charging before use was just something that carried over from the older batteries, and isn't necessary for newer tech.
I always charge them full before use, only for the simple fact of being able to easily measure usage. No need to worry about where battery was at at the start of using the phone, it was at 100..
Yeah nothing to loose sleep over, The manual has a lot of stuff that are not really required
Charge whenever you have the possibility..
Thanks for your help guys!

What is LG Intelligent Agent?

I am interested to know what is LG Intelligent Agent? I think that maybe taking some battery away from me, and want to know if it's safe to disable it without messing with anything? Thanks.
I'm like 99% sure it's safe to freeze, but if you want to be sure there's a thread somewhere where someone found like 50+ apps that are safe to freeze and listed them all.

Nobody really knows, just like much of the other bloatware on the phone
Rumors say it will turn your phone into a dumbphone Nokia 3310 without the same durability, so I am afraid to do it myself.
it's needed for some stock features like Text Link.

So far I can't notice a change in battery life with the screen on, but I've noticed at idle it is a little better with battery consumption.

Best stock kernel?

Hi guys.
Ive been surfing xda for a stock kernel that can run with the sammy stock. All i want it to debloat the rom a bit either myself or downloading a debloated rom and a custom kernel to try and save a bit of battery and lags. I want to keep all the s features at the same time though. Except the stupid things that are no use for anything.
Could someone give me some guidance on the subject. Mainly for the kernel and rom that does the things i listed above. Im new to the note 4 so not too acquainted yet.
Cheers beforehand to any help received.

the best suggestion I can give you, is read, and read....and read
If you read a lot, you become wiser. Then, you get to know, what is a kernel, what you can expect from a kernel and what does not make sense to expect from a kernel

you ask for two contradictory things that no kernel in the world can give you.
You want good consumption or good performance? The settings for one of them, implies bad results in the other one.
