Hi there. I'm going to try to keep this brief, because there's a lot going on.
Basically, my friend used to have a Droid Pro. She wants some important texts off the phone.. Problem is, she dropped the phone in water and it's messed up. This was some time ago, so it's dry now.
When she gave it to me, it was hanging at the red Motorola logo for about 3-5 minutes, then going into the bootloader with a BATTERY LOW, CANNOT PROGRAM error.
So I bought her a new battery and charged it up using a friend's old Droid 1. Now, I get BATTERY OK, OK TO PROGRAM. Now, I have absolutely no experience with ever rooting a phone or anything like that. So I looked up online and found RSD Lite 6.1.5, and the SBF file DROIDPRO 2.26.20. I flashed it, and the RSD screen said PASS.
However, when I reboot the phone now, I get a (now black-and-white) Motorola logo for about 5 minutes, then a bootloader with BATTERY OKAY again. I tried wiping the cache from the recovery menu with no result.
My question is, is there any way I can get into the phone without a factory reset? It looks like I have to do that to get the phone working, but if I do that I wipe the phone, which removes the purpose of saving the SMS messages.
Thanks for reading, and I really appreciate any comments on the matter.

Hey guys,
Before my phone locks up on the splash screen, the OS (Windows Mobile 6) began to run very very very sluggish, the battery was full this morning until when I switched it on (and has not been used since) went to 30% in just about 4 hours, only bluetooth was on and no wifi nor GPS.
I then performed a soft reset to clear up some memory and to stop what ever is being used in the background, to find that after waiting for 30 minutes and only getting the Windows Mobile screen for that long shows that there was a problem.
I NEED HELP NOW! I HAVE A LOT OF INFORMATION ON MY PHONE AND IT HASN'T BEEN BACKED UP, how do I retrieve my SMS/Emails and etc. so that I can perform a hard-reset.
I've just called HTC's tech centre which is Teleplan.
They stated that I should take out the battery and leave it for say 2 hours or more, I think this was to drain the internal battery not the actually battery.
Not sure what the outcome of this may be, but I will keep you posted.

Do you have an update to this. I faced a similar problem with my WM5 device yesterday and am snce unable to load it successfully. It just remains on the windows mobile screen - Indefinately.
Please share the outcome of removing the external battery. I do not want to hard reset either since don't have my sms / mails backed up.
Thanks,
Umesh.

Sorry mate, I don't, I think I was too anxious that I installed the battery in too early, I may just leave the darn thing overnight.
I too didn't back up all my SMS's and MMS's, I have this one SMS that I sent on the exact time and date when my nephew was born! I would be stoked to find I have to hard reset my device!
Not to mention the pain in reinstalling everything!
I will update everyone tomorrow morning.
Sorry guys!

I've had this problem aswell, and the only solve I found was to hard reset it. However after that time everytime I did a soft reset I had the same problem..
Untill I reflashed my device.
Hey guys,
Nope didn't work for me! left it for say 4 hours and put the battery back and still the same issue, I since then farewelled my sms's and mms's :'( and hard reseted it.
I think I will just reflash it, and I would guess that yes it may be a rom image issue then, but why now? why not i think 2 months ago when I flashed my rom to windows mobile 6? why did it happen 2 months after?
And also, from what I know about not giving any charge to your device for a certain amount of period, this will cause the device to perform a hard reset as it would not have enough power to maintain the data on the flash storage, correct me if I am wrong though.
Sorry guys, I AM FULLY STOKED! A WORD OF ADVISE GUYS! BACK UP DAILY WITH WHAT EVERY PROGRAM YOU USE!
hi im new to android phones but i got 2 htc heroes, 1 for me and 1 for my gf, i rooted and installed fresh rom 1.0 on my phone no problems at all. my gf decided to keep hers stock.i had installed fresh rom and rooted my phone because i was having 100% awake problem, i tried everything i could read on the forums but nothing has helped. its not really that big of a deal considering im getting what i consider excellent battery life for my phone.
but my gf's phone has now started having a problem that i cannot fix, her vibrate on her phone just stopped working completely, i checked the settings and everything is enabled and everything looks good, so i did a hard reset which didnt fix the issue, then i restored it with a back up.
i figured at this time the best thing to do is go to sprint and swap them both out, im loving the phone, and the freedom to customize it, i just hate the 100% awake problem, and the no vibrate is a big deal as it vibrate with calls, texts, or keyboard feedback.
if you guys have any input on what it might be that would be great, but all these phones started having problems when they were stock and not rooted, with minimal apps downloaded.
Thanks in advance
Jon
When the phone is powered off and you very first power it on, it should vibrate right away. That is hard coded in to the phone. Does it do that?
If not then the vibe is defective.
no it didnt, i just went ahead and traded both my phones for new ones, both are working great, no more 100% awake for me and my gf has a phone that vibrates. Now its time to root and flash with Fresh 1.0 again.
TY for your response guess it was just a bad one
quick question, when you exchanged the phone, was it still rooted? im having the same problem with my phone and its a little annoying. ive been looking around to see if there is a way to unroot the phone, but it doesnt look like there is a way to do it.

yea it was rooted and still flashed with 1.0 they took it back no problems, since i was still under the 30days return policy.
vibration not working
i rooted my phone with just some rom i found and about an hour ago the vibration stopped working. this is bad for me, i need the virbation more than anything. my 30-day warranty is up but i do have the insurance on my phone, will they let me exchange it even though it is rooted?
Thanks
I was having a similar problem. I downloaded the volume control app and unclicked and reclicked the little vibrate icon above the actual volume level and it fixed it for me.
I've got two main problems with my galaxy s.
1) Today at around 1pm I had to force close something (I don't even remember what it was. I had just woken up the phone and went to check my mail, so I assume Launcher pro or something). It kept prompting me to force close, so I just took out the battery and reboot it. The phone can no longer get passed the initial screen (before the S). I've tried to reset to factory defaults, and it still doesn't work. I assume I can re-flash (not home yet) - but I'm wondering what would cause this type of behavior. FYI - I've been running 2.2 JPH with Rombie's mod)
2) I get really bad reception. I constantly will have my phone go from no service to 3-4 bars while sitting in the same spot. I also have a problem in busy areas where I'll lose my connection completely (whereas other people with different phones seem to have no problem right beside me). Is there anything that could be causing these issues?
Side note: When I originally upgraded to 2.2 JPH I had efs issues for a while, and it took me a while to get it up and running. It's working now (phone and data) - I'm just worried there's some residual effects of a mildly corrupted efs or something.
Update...
Things have gotten worse and I really need some suggestions.
I've tried flashing about 5 different firmwares and I can't get the thing going.
The closest I've come is with the stock jh2 firmware. It boots and it goes to a black screen after the S logo. I know this has been brought up but I have not had success with solutions I've found in other threads. I've tried it with pit512 513 and 803. I've tried it with repartition checked and unchecked.
When I try a 2.2 rom (such as the latest jpk) and upon resetting in the recovery mode, I receive an SDCARD failed to mount error (although one time I also received a failed to load DBDATA error). It also won't let me format the sdcard in this screen as obviously it can't mount it.
The closest I've come to getting the sdcard working is on the jh2 firmware i can "load update.zip" from my firmware, and it seems to actually load - unfortunately that update.zip is completely useless (as it's just an unlocker update i believe) - and I can't change the update.zip as I can't access the sdcard.
Please help if you can!
I had the same problem. My phone was working fine and then it just turned off and froze. I resetted it a few times and it would go to the S logo and then the screen would go blank and the buttons would light up. Resetting it a few more times made it work once but then when i started it again the phone would go back to the same problem.
I tried a ton of rom on it and some worked (but my internal sd card wouldn't mount). The problem got progressively worse by it's self and my phone wouldn't even start now. I recently send it back to Bell to get it repaired and hopefully they don't ping me saying it was my fault for ****ing around, which I doubt they will find out at this point since the damn thing doesn't even turn on.
I researched this a fair bit (2 full nights) and found out that it had something to do with me flashing Jp3 and that set my internal sd card as read only somehow. It's a bug and if you google it a lot of people have had this problem but none had a working solution and everyone of them had to send it back for repair.
Edit: I am also Canadian with a bell phone.
If I end up sending it back to bell, will flashing back to something like JH2 help cover my tracks?
Any idea how long it takes? I can't really go without a phone for more than a couple days =/

Honestly, it is a very frustrating process. They quote you a 2 - 6 week window and do not give you any hard time table and to top that off they don't have any loaner phones that are smart phones. The loaners cost $25 and $250 down.
I had to go out and find one from a friend and even then they wouldn't let me use a CDMA phone since i had a HSPA+ data plan and it some how ****s with their system. The only way you can use a phone on their network is using a HSPA+ phone if you need data. Luckily a friend had a HTC magic that was unlocked so I am using that now.
You can try to load up the default rom that ships with it and then send it in for repair.
Is the default rom JH2?
I believe it is this one I9000UGJH2
Alright so I can adb in to my phone when it's in recovery mode.
Does this help at all? Can i try anything from here?
Hi there my xda-friends!
Every since I updated my phone to Froyo (official) I've had two problems. I unrooted my phone before I updated to 2.2.
The first one is pretty strange. A friend of mine says that my phone sends him a text with about five minutes delay, which says that I have received the text he sent me. He also has a Legend with Froyo on it, but so does my sister, and she doesn't receive any texts from me (except the ones I sent her of course).
This can be solved by restarting my phone, but it begins sending "I've read your text now"-messages to my friend again after about a day. Both me and my friend have tried to remove our conversations and such, (oh, and I still see the sort-by-time bug with my texts, but I think that's because the messages-app doesn't sort my seconds, only minutes).
The other problem I have is that I can't receive calls after a random amount of days, and I can see that my mobile-internet is trying to connect, gets a connection and drops it after a few seconds, and repeats, seen by the internet-icon in the system-bar(?). Then I know something is wrong with my phone (this time, I wasn't able to receive calls).
But again, this can be resolved by restarting my phone, but that shouldn't be necessary, everything worked in 2.1!
I would like Not to factory reset my phone, if you guys have any tips I could try before I'm forced to trying force-resetting.

Alright. That's too bad. But now I've factory-reset it, and so far it feels a little snappier than before, and I got the new market-app with the green skin almost immediately, so maybe something was aching up
I have had two Note 4's but both were on kitkat. One I handed down to my son, and the other I had rooted and running great, but it got stolen out of my car on Christmas Eve. I ordered a brand new 910C and received it yesterday. When I started it I noticed it was running 5.1.1, but no biggie. Basically all I have done with it was restore my messages and contacts through samsung, and was having it re-install all the google apps I wanted to keep. It wanted to install a 95mb update, but I kept telling it no as I didn't have time to research what this update was. I hadn't done anything yet with the phone, it was just downloading google apps. I went to bed, plugged it into the charger, and was lying there reading an article on the internet app. The phone then froze and rebooted. After that, every time it re-started, it would start up then freeze. I tried to get to erase data through the software thinking it downloaded a bad app and I would start again, but it was freezing before I could do it. So then I went into the up arrow, home, power menu. If I was slow in that part, after so many seconds, the phone would freeze. It seems like it may be a hard ware issue freezing after so many seconds. I then was quick about it and first did a erase cache, no luck, then I did a full factory re-set. Now if I try to boot, it just freezes at the Galaxy Note 4 splash screen. Is there anything I can do to fix this, or did I just happen to get a lemon and need to send it back? I would appreciate any timely responses you can give so I can figure out if I need to contact the company I bought the phone from. Thank you everyone.
