If you're missing apps from the Play Store, it's probably because that app doesn't support 1080 devices yet.
I've put a solution together in this topic.
P
This deserves a bump, the one downside to having a 1080p device at the moment =/
However, for me it crashes the store before it lets me 'try' install it.

Is there a way I can download YouTube videos on this tab? Whether it be through a site or an app?
The answer is yes! There are many apps on Google store that can do this just put a search in
I've went to the market and typed in YouTube and tried to find something and typed in download YouTube and didn't find anything
yesssssss! snappzmarket
yes there are many but i believe they were taken off go to http://m.snappzmarket.com/ and download its an alternative app store where you can get paid apps for free...
then search tubemate on snappzmarket might have to update it though should be good
allows you to pick quality for downloading and viewing its a nice app

+1 for TubeMate
Not the most appealing UI , but works good. Fair trade off. Lets you pick from different qualities. Lets you log into your YouTube account and access your Favorites and other account stuff.
The UI looks better on the a500 tablet it does on my G-Nexus phone though.
I use it all the time to quickly load my tablet or phone with music videos, then use iMediaShare to beam across to my PS3 and 360 for viewing or copying to console HDD (PS3 only).
If I only want to view/copy YouTube vids on the PS3, then I just use iMediaShare and skip the TubeMate - to - droid device step.
Trying to play the preview video in the play store results in a connection error. Videos play fine in the YouTube app, but will not load from the play store. I've crawled the Internet for an answer, but I appear to be the only one suffering from this issue. (I would like to point out that just because I looked, doesn't mean it isn't there, just ask my gf).
The video previews used to work fine, when they were located with the screenshots, but since they moved them to the top of the play store, like a banner on the app/games page, the will not load. I can't be the only one experiencing this.
BTW, it's an EVGA model, if that makes a difference. Not rooted.
I also have this problem and have had for a while now, it also affects videos embedded in other Google services such as Newsstand. The only way I have found to 'fix' it is to uninstall updates to the YouTube app and then to ignore updates in Google Play for youtube app.

Well, that's both disappointing and releaving lol. One the one hand I'm glad it's not just me or just my Tegra note, on the other hand I would really rather not have to ignore updates to YouTube.
I would then assume that this is a YouTube problem, or as the least a problem with one of the updates. Oh well, it's a pain in the arse, but it's not the worst thing to have go wrong.
So far my only complaint about the tablet is the shi**y build quality and God forsaken micro USB port
Is the Nvidia Play Store different from the Google Play Store?
I just want to be able to use my Google Opinion Rewards to spend on this device that aren't normal Play Games. I don't want to purchase the device if it doesn't work that way.
Edit: I could find nothing on Google either. I just want to know if it is the same store and if I can use my credits to purchase games.

Well, the Google Play Store of the Nvidia console have only Games with Controller Support, but you can Sideload many Games that have controller Support too. If tested over 15 Games via Sideload and all of these Games work very well. Thats it.
Yes it can be a little confusing. I know nothing about Google opinion rewards, if you can redeem them on the Playstore via a web browser I see no reason why they wouldn't work but I can't say for sure having never used them.
If you access the Playstore from the device itself, it does look very limited as it's dedicated to the Android TV apps. If you use a web browser you are accessing the proper Playstore. Now when you view apps or games it will tell you if they are compatible with the SHIELD TV or other devices you have registered. Just because it says it's compatible doesn't mean it truly is though.....e.g Hearthstone is listed as compatible but to play it on the SHIELD TV you need to use a mouse, the controller won't work and obviously your TV screen won't be touch compatible.
I've owned the device for just over a month or so and I have no real problem recommending it to people. It would be nice if there were more on-demand TV apps available alongside Netflix and BBC iPlayer but no doubt they will be added in time.
Hope we've helped some
I use my google opinion rewards to buy games for Nvidia Shield Android TV, yes... all games made for shield , sans the Geforce NOW component , are in fact google play credit consuming resources. YOU can purchase games and non-gaming apps for shield tv using money earned from the survey app.
When I use the voice search to search for a movie that I know for a fact is on one of my installed apps, I am only shown results to buy the movie from Google play. The only exception is if I search for something that is on one of the major apps like Netflix or hulu. But it will not search apps like TBS or FXNow for movies. Is there a way to make it do this? Roku does this very well.
