Androids retarded handling of the bluetooth remote control profile is really getting on my nerves.
No matter what application I have open and want my BT-headset to control, it always defaults to the standard music player.
Is there any way to make it control Spotify, Acast, Droidlive, etc. instead?
Sorry no answer for you but just wanted to say I have exaactly the same problem and just came on here to ask if anyone knew anything about.
Also, do you have any stutter when using A2DP? I'm using a Sony in-car stereo and spotify stutters every ~10 seconds. Doesn't happen using aux in. Haven't tried A2DP using the built in music player rather than spotify though.
@HTC - Please either let us specify which app receives the AVRCP commands or just automatically route it to the currently playing app.

I've found that stutter was caused by having wifi turned on. Switching it off fixed everything.
I've installed an app called Y5 that is supposed to automatically switch off wifi if i'm somewhere i haven't used it before, which is everywhere but my house. If I need it, i'll turn it on manually.
Below is the response I got from HTC when I enquired about the crappy AVRCP:
No. At this time, AVRCP only works with the HTC Palyer. The G1 worked differently as it did not have touchflo and used the base android rom instead.
i will report this to the developers, but i do not know if or when they will fix it, as they obviously already have priorities for adding/removing/updating the ROMs.

So that's that then. Fail.
Is there anything that can be done by other developers?
Or if enough people want it, force HTC to look into extending AVRPC to other apps?
whoops, double post!

I dunno about the apps you mention but I use TuneWiki and it has an option to "Enable Headset Button" When this option is on it responds to the AVRCP buttons and the standard music app does not.
I can assure you that what declanshanaghy says is not true. declanshanaghy obviously does not understand the problem here. It's not that an installed app will fail to respond to AVRCP signals and instead the Andriod "default app" will, rather it's that on the HTC Hero the "default app" is not the Android "default app" rather a specialized HTC music player that intercepts and steals the AVRCP controls from any other app playing media. This includes this TuneWiki app too. I know, I just downloaded it and tried it and it fails miserably. I can play one song with TuneWiki, then hit Play on my Bluetooth headset and the HTC music player will play a second song resulting in two songs playing at the same time.
HTC did this on their WinMo phones too but Conduit's PocketPlayer managed to figure out how to fix HTC's silly mistake. Unfortunately Conduits PocketPlayer doesn't run on Android.
I'm looking for a good podcatcher/media player that can get around the HTC problem and that properly responds to AVRCP controls. Anybody know of one?
hi..
I also dont like this.. how.. my BlueTooth Stereo headset can not control the current player I am using...
I wish there is a way.. to get control over our music!!!
1.. able to use our music with our bluetooth devices..
2.. better EQ / any EQ for better music enjoyment
My android 2.0(1) Milestone never had any problem with this. I use spotify with my wonderful Philips SHB9000 without a hitch. Oh and Milestone got an equlizer now (2.0.1), though it don't work with bluetooth. Shame, I want slightly louder bass.
just in case anyone is bothered by this issue also. I found a ghetto work around.
I moved all my music on my sdcard to /sdcard/.mp3 (the default music player doesn't search . folders)
then I install mortplayer and this "headset button fix" program and now my headset only controls mortplayer. Although I think it tries to control the default music player but since there is no media in the library it doesn't have anything to do.
took me a while to get it working just right but I couldn't use the default player anymore. I was getting that studdering effect others mentioned but not with mortplayer
I have the same problem .... I use Meridian .. can not uninstall
player default?

WIFI is one cause of stuttering. I found that I get stuttering whenever I'm listening to A2DP with WiFi on and I come in range of an access point that it tries to connect to.
HOWEVER, it is not the only time stuttering happens! Often, I get stuttering on my HTC EVO when i first pair with A2DP even though the WIFI is off. I have to exit out of the audio app (Stitcher Radio) and then relaunch it OR skip to the next track in the playliest and it stops the stuttering, So, there is another issue that needs to be fixed because those workarounds should not be needed.

Thanks for the info on the stutter problem. I was actually looking for an app that would remote control my car stereo but the stuttering issue was something that was on the back burner.
Hi there,
i have an annoying behaviour on my HD2 when connecting to headset, bt a2dp and so on. I just find some articles with the same problem in the nexus forum, so i start this new thread.
If ever i plugin my headset, the sense musictab opens and with a delay of 5-10 seconds it begins to play. this is really annoying, because i hear my music and books with mortplayer. when inserting headset, after the delay, i hear my mortplayer music and the music which is loaded in my sense tab. so everytime i have to go to sensetab manually and stop playing music.
i can reproduce the same behaviour when connecting to my bt-caraudio (parrot). everytime when a2dp is connected, the music starts to play. also, i have this issue with my motorola s9 bt-headset.
does anyone have the same issue or perhaps solved this problem ?
best regards, chris
Disable the sense music tab as it seems you're not using it...
i tried this too, but then wmplayer is coming in front and wants to play.
is it wanted from htc, that everytime someone connects the earplug the music starts ? sometimes i just want to connect my earplugs while driving with my bike to answer calls. i have no intent to hear music in this situation
Hmm, doesn't do this for me. What ROM are you using?
It does so when I set S2P to do it, but not otherwise...
i use artemis 6.0 with the newset radio (9) i think. i reflashed the rom in the last minutes, so i will check if it is something with the settings i made in the last days
Hi all,
sorry to dig out such an old thread, but felt it was better then starting e new one on the same matter.
I have the same problem with my HD2 with Artemis 14 (WM6.5.5). When I connect to car kit using bluetooth. And randomly also sometime when plugging the headset, music starts palying automaticaly.
Very annoying, especially since I don't use Sense's tab as a player.
Any one found a fix / setting on this ??
thanks
I have my N3 connected to my 2009 Ford Edge via bluetooth. It connects quickly every time. The phone has 911 assist almost immediately.
The same can be said for media. Bluetooth connection to enable media playback always connects.
I have two bluetooth media related issues that revolve around autostart of media player when I get in the car...
1. Default app to play media. No matter what I'm playing when I leave the car (it could be BeyondPod, Pandora, Play Music, etc.) the app that starts automatically playing when I get back into the car is ALWAYS BeyondPod, my podcast player. For some reason it has become the pseudo default media app when connected via bluetooth. If I was playing Pandora I know that when I get back in the car I'll have to go into my phone, stop BeyondPod and then to into Pandora and hit play. I would very much like it if there was a way, or a setting, that tells the autoplay feature to use the app that was playing when I left the car. I don't want a default player, just the player that was being used when I left the car.
2. When I get in the car sometimes it will start playing and sometimes it won't start playing. It connects properly, it just doesn't play anything. I can be away from my car for a week for vacation and the next time I get back in the car it starts immediately playing where I left off. Other times I can go into the grocery store, come back out 5 minutes later and it doesn't start playing, I have to pull the phone out and press start on whatever media player I'm using. It's not consistent and I can never predict when it will automatically start playing. I've tried to see a pattern of when it will automatically start but I just can't figure it out. Seems totally random. If I had to guess I'd say that it autostarts about 75% of the time. The other 25% is a mystery.
Not sure if it would help at all, but I used this app to dial in my Bluetooth profile.

Thanks. I looked at that app but it's more for troublesome connections. I connect quickly every time. Bluetooth connectivity is not an issue. It's what happens after connection that's an issue.
I've used apps such as Tasker and Trigger to start an app such as Pandora or Play Music. The problem with solution is it presumes that I want a specific one of those to start. I don't. I want what was playing when I got out of the car to start. I've also used Tasker to pop up a menu letting me make a selection. That works but it means I have to take the phone out of my pocket, something that's not easy to do once I'm buckled in.

Check to see if the app is scheduled to start on headphone or Bluetooth connection. If so uncheck those. It's under player settings.

I've noticed in my new Moto G4 plus (which I totally love) that whenever I try to pair it with my bluetooth speaker it works just fine until I turn off the screen, then music just stops and it seems bluetooth isnt transmitting the way it should. Bluetooth seems to work fine in files sharing but not with music streaming. Have any of you have had the same problem? Or does someone has a solution?
Just for the record my music app its called player pro. Thanks.
Try turning off battery optimizations for your music player. My watch won't stay connected to my phone until I turned battery optimizations off for Android Wear.
Found out the issue
I have found the issue apparently it has something to do with daydream (which is found in the display config), I tried to put the app into not optimization but didnt work. Thank you!
i usually have to face internet speed whenever i use or on my Bluetooth, kindly suggest me any solution or it is my misconception.

*** ISSUE UPDATE*** I've found that the bluethoot issue I was experiencing was due to the music app I've been using [PlayerPro]. Apparently has some bugs on it that havent fix alredy. In the meantime Im using google play to stream my music to the bluethoot speaker. Could someone recommend me a music player app that isn't poweramp? I had issues with that app regarding to the licence verification whenever I didn't have internet. Thanks!

When I connect the smartphone with the car via Bluetooth, the music is just intermittent suonds. How do I fix this?
I would like to know this too, anyone?
I started having this same issue after the last/first Tmobile update, before it was fine.
Same thing here. The music would either play through the phone's earpiece or sound like a call playing through the Bluetooth speaker. I read YouMail was a cause so I uninstalled and it still happened I force closed the phone app and it worked normally after that. The issue may definitely be from the T-Mobile update tho.
Yeah been having an issue with volume fading after initial connection, drives me nuts since I use the phone for GPS and music streaming. so I use the v30 for bt music and OnePlus for gps
I'm having an issue with the phone trying to automatically connect to a second Bluetooth device and begin playing music on it. This happened tonight while following behind my wife's car.
Every time we stopped at a light it would connect and I would loose audio in my vehicle and play in hers. No way to stop it connecting other than forget the device or turn off all the functions in that device settings.

I have the T-Mobile 6T and I have this same issue.
It seemed like the previous update fixed it, and was broken by the current update. Anyone know if the international rom has the same problem?

Bluetooth nightmare
I've been having the same issue since I bought my T-Mobile 6T last year and am pulling out my hair trying to figure out how to fix it. I have a "GTA Car Kit" Bluetooth module installed in my '06 Mazda 3 and I use Android Auto with my phone docked in a CD slot mount to give me hands-free text messaging, navigation and music / audiobooks. My phone is also always connected to my android wear watch, so it's technically connected to two Bluetooth devices at once when I use it.
The problem is that audio playback via Pandora, Google Music and my audiobook app that plays on-device mp3's intermittently stutters or skips. It happens immediately sometimes, other times it will work perfectly for half of my commute and then start stuttering every few seconds until I finally just turn off the music/audiobook completely.
I've tried:
Turning bluetooth on and off
Turning my car radio on and off
Changing the developer mode settings for Bluetooth AVRCP Version, Codec, Sample Rate, Playback quality etc.
Clearing storage/cache for Bluetooth
Switching to the international version ROM for the device
Once I got the Oxygen OS v10 update I really though the problem was fixed, but after a few days of working fine it started skipping again.
Does anyone have any idea what's causing this or other things I can try?
[EDIT] I found one more new thing to try on the OnePlus 6T forums https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/bluetooth-stuttering-solved.1076196/
I'll give this a try and report back
