[Q] How to recieve texts on T-Mobile Prepaid...? - Atrix 4G General

I've recently unlocked my Atrix 4G, talked to AT&T support and they easily gave me a code free, and I am on rooted stock gingerbread.
I just ported my number over to the $30 100mins talk/unlimited text/data T-mobile prepaid plan. I can send texts and the other party gets them, but I cannot see any calls texts anyone sends me unless its a media message, such as a picture.
I've tried multiple APN edits, searching for hours on this forum and others, none of them seem to change anything.
I can call other people, but they can't call me. If they call me, it rings for about 30 secs then goes to voicemail.
What am I missing here? Anyone else on the T-mobile prepaid plans using Atrix 4g?

Receiving MMS

Has anyone been able to receive MMS messages on the iMATE XDA 2 through T-Mobile USA yet?
I'm able to send MMS messages, but when people send them to me they come in as SMS messages.
whats the difference between mms and sms?
SMS = Short Message Service, 160 characters max, text only
MMS = Multimedia Messaging Service, rich media content such as images, video and audio
maybe you have to active the "receive-mms"-feature on your phoneaccount to receive mms messages. Normaly the receive mms funktion is off, because not every phone can receive them
Ask you provide how to do this...
regards
AleX
SMS runs over GSM
MMS runs over GPRS
MMS need to be switch to delivery directly to the phone by the service provider. However some service providers (mine is one as it happens) have not updated their system yet to allow both MMS and GPRS web/data services at the same time.
I'm stilling to the data services as I can still send any pictures I take via email.
i'm still waiting on the guy to reply who claims he gets unlimited gprs for $20/month from his provider in the US. Any know how who offers this?
T-Mobile offers $19.99 unlimited internet if you have a phone number with them. It's $29.99 alone without voice plan.

You can find more info on T-Mobile website or HowardForums.

google voice

can i get the nexus one and get the cheapest plan on tmo and use my google voice and not use minutes??
i guess i am confirming that GV using data and not plan minutes.....
Google Voice is not VoIP. It WILL use your minutes. Unless you have fav5 grandfathered in your contract or AT&T (you'll loose 3G) A-List, you are SOL.
I just moved to T-Mo on the 1st and moved in with 80/month contract free unlimited everything plan so I am ok. Before that I used HTC Magic (Rogers) with google voice and A-List on AT&T.
But to recap, you will need minutes. Google voice is more of a front number at the moment. Not a VoIP service as of right now. With purchase of Gizmo, it may turn that way later but for now, you talk, you use your minutes.
It goes through regular phone calls, so no. Unless you get the MyFaves and put the GV number on your favelist
Edit: Too slow.. d'oh
thanks guys...
yeah, i have a rogers magic on att now......i think i'm gonna make the switch to tmo now....
get unlocked phone....and get the 500 mins even more plan for 59.99/mo.............sell my magic and make up the difference in the $$$ for n1...

Straight Talk Sim

I had LG Quantum Windows Phone on the ATT network for 2 years. I switched to Straight Talk a month ago by just switching out the sim cards. The phone & service worked great except straight talk does not support windows phone because you can't edit the APN setting in Windows Phone because they are automatic. It was time for a new phone anyways so I went on ebay and found a HTC MyTouch 4g Slide unlocked from the T-mobile network. I put the straight talk sim in the new phone and now I am getting a lot of problems with sending & recieving text etc. The major problem I have is I keep getting a text message that says +1121611611 (2288 Error Invalid Number, Please resend using a valid 10 digit mobile number or valid short code. This is continuous day & night and will not stop and runs my battery down. Is it possible that I can't use a T-mobile phone with a AT&T version Straight Talk sim?
So just to be clear, I have a HTC MyTouch 4G that was originally from T-Mobile that is now unlocked. I have a AT&T/StraightTalk sim in it. Where I live I don't get good reception with the T-mobile networks and the AT&T service is better.
Please help!
Do all your contacts have 10 digit numbers? I.e. 1-xxx-xxx-xxxx You also stayed you have a my touch slide, you might search through that forum to see of somebody else had that issue..
I have all my numbers as 10 digit numbers. I even reset the phone and didn't even attach my google accounts or FB account and got the same error.
ATT or straight talk? Glacier or MT4G Slide? Its probably the APN

"Unlocked" Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4 to Tmobile switch - cannot send text messages

"Unlocked" Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4 to Tmobile switch - cannot send text messages
Please! HELP!!
I switched from Verizon to Tmobile and my stupid phone updated to Lollipop 5.0.1 and now I can't send text messages without calling Tmobile and having them send a signal to reprovision my phone EVERY time after it reboots (which I have to do EVERY day now that bluetooth sucks so hard and randomly stops all the time in Lollipop).
Before I accidentally hit the button to update, my phone would show my Verizon voicemails waiting in the notification area and say "No Service" until I called my voicemail and let it disconnect, to which effect it would seem to go to no signal to nothing to HSDPA to plus to 4G LTE and BAM! I'd be on Tmobile able to send texts and all (before which I could NOT send texts, but COULD receive them (IIRC), and make phone calls (WITHOUT dial tones being accepted (which seemed to be fixed in Lollipop by selecting long press tones in the phone settings), and I COULD browse the web, etc.).
NOW, that little workaround does NOT work anymore and I have to call Tblowbile to send that magical signal to my phone (which doesn't seem to take all the time for all people for some reason).
I DO have the APN entered correctly (as stated on their website) and setting the phone to and from global to global/lte/gsm and selecting tmobile as the mobile network in the settings does NOT work.
I GUARANTEE it is that stupid GRAYED OUT Verizon APN that I CANNOT remove that is causing ALL these problems (given the nature of the phone post-reboot on KitKat).
PLEASE, tell me how to delete that stupid VZW APN or how to downgrade to KitKat or of another workaround other than having to call the deceptive, bait and switch company that is Tmobile EVERY time!
I'M DESPERATE!
PLEASE, HELP!
You can't. The bootloader is locked on Verizon, which prevents root. They've also apparently blocked access to the APNs in firmware.
Your options? Head to the XDA Verizon S4 forums and check out their various guides.
P.S. T-Mobile is not pulling a bait and switch here. They are providing you with service, which is what you paid for. They have no control over the OTA function of the device. Unless you have proof that T-Mobile is baiting and switching, your comment is slanderous/libelous.

Straight Talk restricting outgoing calls because of 2g migration

I tried to make an outgoing call this morning, only to get a notice that my outgoing calls have been restricted and that my 2g phone will no longer work. It re-directs me to their call center, where my only options seem to be either order a replacement phone or activate the replacement phone.
Here's the catch. I'm using an iPhone 6 with a 2-year old SIM card that has worked flawlessly the whole time (actually, it still works fine, it's Straight Talk's system blocking my outgoing calls). When I question them on this, they blame my phone and say I need to order a new SIM, and the tech was unable to answer my question regarding the ability to call 911 (I can't even check voicemail, but I don't want to test 911).
I can still receive calls and my cellular data works just fine (posting this on LTE), but my outbound calls are being re-directed.
Has anyone run into this issue? Has anyone found a way to get rid of the block? I can't get anywhere with their "support". I should not have to buy a new SIM card for something that shouldn't affect my service.
Straight Talk should just send you a new sim without charging for the sim.
They sent me a replacement sim when I misplaced my phone without any problems. I found the phone and didn't need the sim. They didn't charge me for the sim.
The problem is likely on their end with the provisioning of the sim.
Did they try to send you a new sim ?
I finally was able to get around scripted CS and talk to somebody knowledgeable. They're sending me a new SIM.
Apparently, I got caught by the net because I used this SIM in an old flip phone several months ago.
My biggest concern with the whole thing is the ability to call 911, and why they don't have an escape route so that you can still place calls without ordering or activating a replacement phone. My first few contacts left me with a replacement phone as my only option.
Notice to all providers. In the future, please make these notifications so that they don't block outgoing calls. Play a notice, give a number to call, then allow the call through.
Luckily, I have FaceTime Audio to continue making calls in the meantime (new SIM arrives Tuesday).
