IS there any way to get Google Play on an unrooted Kindle Fire?
I don't want to flash a ROM.
I'm just looking for a way to download it on my KF.

No, not unrooted. But you do not need to install a ROM to get Google Play. You just need to root it.

Hello,
I have rooted my kindle fire HD successfully twice now and after working well for a few days, it will unroot.
I used this process: http://androidforums.com/kindle-fire-hd-all-things-root/656683-root-kindle-fire-hd-7-a.html
I also used Kindle free to help install google services. I was going to install the paid version but if it keeps doing this I don't want to spend the money.
Why does it keep unrooting?
Thanks
Try and root it again and use this update-defeat script

So download the scriptmanager.apk file and install it on my kindle,Then follow the root process?
You need to root it first then follow the steps for the update-defeat.

I would go to the Kindle Fire FirstAide thread on here. You can run that and go back to 7.2.3 which will make flashing the 2nd bootloader and installing custom roms much less of a headache.

Thank you, I will take a look at that.
Hi all, I've been doing my research for nearly a week now on unleashing my kindle fire into a full android tab,
What I can't seem to find is any info on whether I can root, and install a kitkat style Rom onto my software version,
I don't just want go launcher I've decided I want a new os and I like the system on my HTC one so I'd go as close to that as possible, any help would be greatly appreciated,
Will twrp, firefirefire and the kfu all work with my version? Many thanks

I have been having trouble trying to install softkeyz root apk onto my kindle fire hd 7 running cm11 with maromi kernel. It keeps giving me application not installed error. I have busy box installed.

Well, the SoftKeyz app customises the normal AOSP navbar, but the Kindler's navbar is modified. Maybe that's why it can't be customised with SoftKeyz.

I know i have gotten it to work on omnirom but maybe it had to do with not having cm theming built.
