Hello,
I have rooted my kindle fire HD successfully twice now and after working well for a few days, it will unroot.
I used this process: http://androidforums.com/kindle-fire-hd-all-things-root/656683-root-kindle-fire-hd-7-a.html
I also used Kindle free to help install google services. I was going to install the paid version but if it keeps doing this I don't want to spend the money.
Why does it keep unrooting?
Thanks
Try and root it again and use this update-defeat script

So download the scriptmanager.apk file and install it on my kindle,Then follow the root process?
You need to root it first then follow the steps for the update-defeat.

Im rooting a friend's fire only for market. Can I just use the temporary root option in KFU so I can mount the system/app to install Play Store?

I used this ROM. I don't mind the stock UI, but wanted google market, so this works for me.

I don't want a new ROM, rather a temporary root method

I would reccomend using a tenporary root such as burrito root or zergrush. Go o youtube and there are many videos on rooting the kindle in such a way. I wouldnt trust kfu too much. Even software can make mistakes.

Does burrito root support stock 6.3?
Sent from my Kindle Fire using Tapatalk
Idk about burritoroot 3... it could. Id check it out first. I know burrito root was used to root 6.2.2 as well, whether it was updated or not i do not know. Zerg works. There is a thread on xda as well.

do a permanent root using 6.3 root method once you are done with root work just remove su binary from /system/bin/ and superuser.apk from /system/app
all done
i prefer OTA unrooter.
or just rename su to su2 or something else
this will make everything (every app) think that you don't have root.
For 6.2 I used burrito root, but after the update to 6.3 I used the KFU. After you have installed the Google Market or Play, you can use Voodoo OTA to unroot your KF and watch instant video on Amazon. Look for nat3mil on you tube. He shows how it's done.
Hear hear. Nat3mil is the kindle fire god of youtube.

Warning to all of those still running the stock Rom, amazon is pushing a new update and as usual it breaks your root.
Just got my refurby one, Left mine on my table while getting root instructions. Rebooted automatically. Should have turned wifi off. Damnit. Still got Google framework but market force closes
updated to 6.3.1 and used kindle utility to root and flash rom
Hey, anybody know what new content Amazon has included in the update?
Sent from my Amazon Kindle Fire using XDA
Software update 6.3.1 "brings additional parental controls to Kindle Fire, including the ability to password-protect purchases, disable access to specific content libraries, and block access to the Silk Web browser," according to Amazon.

Rooted no more after only one day. I've had my Kindle for a month and took me this long to take the plunge to root.
Back to square one! Does KFU .9.5 work as before?
Tried rooting through the 3.x method, got stuck on the kindle fire logo on one command and nothing happened for minutes. Reset, nothing. No light whatsoever. Bricked. Damn.

not bricked, you are in fastboot mode, flash recovery, flash firefirefire and set the bootmode back to 4000
Kindle Fires are damn near impossible to brick.

I would go to the Kindle Fire FirstAide thread on here. You can run that and go back to 7.2.3 which will make flashing the 2nd bootloader and installing custom roms much less of a headache.

I second this link. I have now rooted and put a custom ROM on two Kindle Fire HDs and have a third on it's way. I am getting this for just over $50 on eBay because they are blacklisted and can't be registered with Amazon. I put CM 11 on them and love it, they are a true android tablet now.
I'm glad someone got some use out of the updated images.
