128 GB SD card on XPERIA PLAY - Xperia Play General

Hello guys,
As my sandisk 64 gig UHS1 microsd card became overcrowded, I would like to share with you my project of being able to fit a 128 gig SD card on my xperia play.
It's a Kingston Class 10 128 GB full size SD card (no 128 microsd on market yet and no money for an 128 gig sandisk UHS1, as it is double the price.. -but the write speed is pretty much the same in my tests, so.... ).
This is not fake. The screens are from my own beloved xplay. I have the phone for everyday use (no hanging stuff from it).
I will come back with some details of how I pulled this of, if anybody is interested and after I finish with my exams. :|
As checking the screens below, remember that I have partitioned the card in 3: one 108gig FAT32 partition for storage, one 7.88 gig ext4 partition for link2sd and one 768 meg partition for swap. and that I have many many tweaks and optimization in order to keep it smooth with all that software on it
Dear kangi26 I was extremely disappointed last night when I checked and saw that my thread was closed. I had pictures taken last night and wanted to show how it could be done -to anyone who was interested. I donno why but I didn't received any emails about messages being posted here (just received some at the beginning and then nothing and assumed that no one posted anything anymore). And neither I was announced about that flag.. Anyway, as I said, I didn't had time to post anything else as I had exams and I have a job: I will come back with some details of how I pulled this of, if anybody is interested and after I finish with my exams. :| I donno how to reopen my last thread.
I am not here to make any fuss. And I am not familiar with posting. I've just wanted to help those like psxpetey who understands me and some of us who just love to gather a lot of content on their phone and use them at their max potential . It took certain amount of work (effort) for me to upload this pictures on a dsl connection and to write here (and add the pictures one by one) so I donno why anyone would assume that this is fake or a prank (I don't have time for picture editing - don't you thing I have better things to do netizenmt and nickholtus ?!?! ).
As I donno how, I ask the moderators to link the threads if it is possible and to notify anyone that I answered to. I would set again the site to send me emails and try to answer anyone who really like my work and is interested, but if it fails again after 2-3 emails it is out of my control...
So...
psxpetey yes, you are right! It's simply an adapter turned backwards because these adapters are electrically neutral (no components -it's just a connector). But this required the idea and some amount of attentive work
Down bellow are the pictures that I took last night. In order for the phone to be used everyday (nothing hangs around on the outside) I was helped by the fact that I have an extended mugen power battery (the best! ) and the alternative cover for this allows you to fit a full size sd card in the back, as you can see below.
@ olokos the app is FX explorer. same as in screens 3-9
oh... and I guess I know when I stopped receiving emails.. Is when you moved the thread! so it wasn't me..
ppffff

all ok for about 2 months now. no sudden unmounts. no sudden reboots. no drainage.. with this 3600mAh batt I get about 5 days when just texting and occasional calls (when I drive to work and don't give that much attention to my phone) and about 2.5 - 3 days when playing and listening to music about 1h/day (when commute by train). nothing different than when I had 32 or 64 microsd.

Wow thats a lot of room for all those xplay only games. Too bad, even 32gb class 10 is rm200 here. Too expensive for now. On stock 2.3.4 root, can it really use 32gb with link2sd part?
Now using:
Sony Xperia tipo ST21i
stock 4.0.4
11.0.A.4.22
(rooted, locked bootloader)

This is AWESOME.

you can if you are rooted. I recommned partition on pc (paragon partition magic, etc)./.... this way you won't have to format the entire card... I have ext4.. works well

Okay. Got link2sd running on 8gb class 4 1gb ext3. Is 1gb enough, or need to add more? Maybe getting 16gb next week. For 16gb, what is the recommended ext3 size?

the size is only up to you! it depends on how many programs you have installed. ext3 works fine too. I had 1gig. now I resized to 8 and it;s 3 gig full

that's with a total of 382 apps from witch just a few are on sd because it specifically required (games that don't work on "interna") and some software are on internal (the ones that have shortcuts or widgets on my home screen - cause I don't like re arranging them every time my phone boots w/o the card (for whatever reason). so.. about 3 gigs occupied and I have many many games

128gb microsd works in XPlay
Hey everyone!
I had to join the forum to let everyone know that you don't need to do any mods to get a 128 gig card to work with the Play.
on eBay there is a 128 gig micro sd card for sale, and it works in the Xperia Play.
now, I do have a stock Play but it doesn't work, so I can't test it on that, but my current Play is rooted and has ICS installed, and it works!

Going nuts! with the limited space :( and other annoyances...

i think i'm hitting my limit here.
not sure if i can last a few more months with this limitation... (keeping fingers crossed for the next best thing that runs on 1700+2100)
i'm using Dropbox (3 GB) to ease the pain
i'm using Fiabee (1 GB) <--- that's nothing, it's like a drop in a bucket
i'm using Subsonic (not very useful, as it still uses local storage to catch the songs)
i'm using mSpot (same as Subsonic, easier to use, no need for server)
I'm using Picasa (but is useless unless you have actual space to take pictures)
I'm also using pixelpipe (yet another media sync that catches stuff locally, which also consumes local space)
the only real solution i see is to be able to plug in an USB flash drive to the SNS, and play my medias from there.
unfortunately that is out of the question at the moment, as no one have been able to get it working yet via USB storage driver
The problem with both dropbox and fiabee is their download rate is not fast enough to make them a viable Streamer
not to mention, you can't even access the files until you have downloaded them, which also makes it pointless as you (me) have no free space left to receive the files anyways
It's not fun (a very tedious task), having to keep uninstalling a bunch of apps/games every time i want to check out another app/game, or deleting a whole bunch MP3s / Videos that you use often, only to have to download them again a few minutes later.
on the SGS the 2 GB space for Apps/Games + MKV, DIVX and other media support on the SGS was like a GOD sent, also the extra microSD support really opened up the phone to all kind of possibilities.
unfortunately the SGS has its own demons as well like dying internal SD, GPS issues, bad file system, etc, etc, just to name a few.
seems like currently i'm stuck between the sword & a rock
......... i'm slowly starting to regret getting the SNS:
- main issue limited space
- unable to natively do Video Call other phones like Nokia, LG, Samsung
- no gorilla glass (already got a deep scratch with a minor drop, the old SGS went through a lot of dips without a single scratch)
the only positive thing i like the SNS:
- 2.3 OS
- the phone actually works without dying internal SD issues
is this a common thing are many people running out of space with the nexus s? i thought there was ample room with this phone with the new internal storage. i'm confused.

looks like you have a lot of media that you use often. That should have been your number one concern when making your phone buying decision. 1gb for apps should be more than enough space but maybe im kidding myself. And if you needed a phone with more storage space for media there were/are plenty of options available. just sounds to me like you didnt do your research beforehand. IJS

not every one is a heavy user like i am
lets just say the phone is replacing my laptop, and i'm trying to do everything i was able to do on my laptop on the phone (which it can)
but the problem is the limited space
if it had the microSD support like its counter part Galaxy S, then it would have been a breeze to just swap another microSD to access the files you want quickly

Return it before the 30 days and buy yourself a phone with an sdcard slot. There is not much that can be done after it gets full.. hopefully 32gb will be enough

not the case, i just though i could live with the limitation, but in the end it's not working out as planned.
still, i'll hang on to the SNS until a dual core with SAMOLED comes out, then i'll make my move.

Use AudioGalaxy. I have 80gigs of music on my PC available for streaming to my NS. No caching needed.
My other suggestion, get a dedicated PMP.

@AllGamer
Honestly, mate, I'd suggest returning/sending your Samsung Nexus S back if you still can. I've watched your post history over the last week or so and every other post seems to be a gripe about the Nexus S(like this one) or wishing that you had something from the Galaxy S lineup. Its clear that this phone is not a good fit for you and you should go back to your SGS device, whatever it may be.
I'm not trying to start a flamewar, call you out, or disrespect you or anything. I just think you'd be happier with a Vibrant or what have you. Different strokes for different folks.

all comments are welcome.
I did play with the idea of getting the the SGS vibrant SGH-T959, i might even trade my SGS i9000 for the SGH-T959
Currently i'm toying with the idea of converting the SGS i9000 to use the SGH-T959 radio http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=908120
in the end if i can find some Software alternative, then perhaps i can go on a few more months longer and switch to the next best phone all together, assuming they will support 1700+2100
"i'm using mSpot (same as Subsonic, easier to use, no need for server)"
hey man,did you update mspot??? recently.
they do stream from server now, without downloading it on your phone.
all my mspot(xept covers/albumart folder) are empty even after playing 30 songs.
When did you sign up for Fiabee? They upgraded my account to 15 GB on new years for being "one of the first to try it" or something like that.

well anyway. you should get some decent $$ on ebay for the nexus
Well, you could get an android pmp like archos 43. Nice device with sd card, and can obviously download music. Its their new, smaller line. 2.1, but hey. Its a pmp.

the Nexus S sells for a lot more here locally than on eBay
so i have no problem at all letting it go, but as i posted a few message above
the SNS is the most solid device so far released by Samsung, that being said
i find it very hard to find another phone with SAMOLED display that can beat the SNS, as the Vibrant is not very good else i've swapped the SNS for the SGS in a heart beat.
i still have another SGS here with me, but it's not compatible to 1700+2100

Sold my streak :)

Sold my streak
Used my streak for about 6 months before I finally decided to sell it. A big thank you to dj_steve and all the users who wrote guides and helped make streak the amazing device it was. Unfortunately the more I used my streak, the more I realized it just wasn't the ideal device for me. There were just too many small quips that I had with the streak that killed the user experience for me.
Here's a few:
Screen size and weight- The 5" screen was great for gps and web browsing, but I could never get used to texting even with the thumb keyboard app. Due to its weight, I found it difficult to hold the streak in one hand for long periods of time. This usually happend when I used the kindle app so I found myself having to either sit up or lay the streak down to read.
Battery Life - For the life of me, I couldn't get more than 24 hours on a single charge (even with juice defender). I only left wifi and the cellular radio on and would make sure to keep gps and bluetooth off . I'm sure I was doing something wrong since many of you faired much better but could never figure it out (I recently read dj_steve posting that he got 4+ days on his streak).
Market update - A few months ago the update to the android market made it incredibly difficult to find new apps. Before you could use the middle key (menu) and could easily select search but with the update that option went away. Instead you now had to click the small search icon in the upper right corner to find anything (And I hated the new tile layout in the market, the old list version was much better)
Charging - With the otterbox commuter case, I always had problems plugging the dell sync cable into the charging port. The frustration was similar to plugging a flash the drive in the wrong way
Music - I couldn't use the streak as a dedicated mp3 player due to its size and couldn't get a music app that didn't catalog every audio file on the streak. Instead I would always find myself carrying my ipod touch everywhere alongside my streak
SD card - I never liked using the unorganized folder layout whenever I connected my streak. I would always find empty folders in the root directory and was never sure if they were the remnants of a deleted app
Gameplay - When I bought my streak, I knew it wasn't made as a gaming device. But I never could get popular games like planets vs zombies to even run on my streak. Games would always crash even after re-installing and closing all apps that were currently running in the background.
All in all, the streak has been a great gadget to play with but wasn't the device I needed. Again, a big thanks to everyone on this forum who helped make it great

You can freeze the market updater to prevent the new market from installing. This really isn't a Streak issue - it's a Google issue.

I solved my issue with the Commuter case by cutting the port covers off. I felt they were more in the way than useful. Also not a Streak issue, it's a case design issue.

This is also not a Streak issue - it is an Android issue.
I am also moving from the Streak to a smaller phone. My issue with the Streak is also one of it's best features, it's size. I just want something smaller that is easier to carry every day. Just as I pointed out solutions that work for me to the issues you raised I am sure others will say that they have no problems with carrying the Streak every day.
In the end you have to use a phone that suits your needs.
Agreed, the majority of my problems came from using the android os. As much I wanted to like it, I couldn't make it work. The big selling point behind the steak was it's screen and I didn't use it enough to justify it's size
i bought a cheap 10" tablet 4 months ago so my streak just get used as a phone now
my streak broke a couple a weeks ago (stuck on dell logo & no recovery) so i dug out my o2 xda guide & i really enjoyed using a smaller phone
but now i got my new streak back the other day & i cant wait till march until i get a small phone again i just dont need a 5" phone anymore
Sound like it's not the Streak that's not for you, it's Android that's not for you. Hope you enjoy your Iphone

dell streak at his size and his specs is a great device, i use one more than 6 months and i don't think i will sell it or change it soon because streak have everything i want from a device: big screen for navigation, reading, writing, 2 micro sd slots for memory card (maxim 64gb) (i use now 8gb for system and 16gb for apps, multimedia ...), nice design, speed and many more .

These days i reckon you could have a maximum of 128gb using 2 64GB MicroSDXC cards formatted to FAT32, crazy amount of storage.
ok i am a little confused. where is the 2nd sd card slot? is it hidden some where?
I'm a DELL Streak 5 owner as well... for nearly a year.
I love it so much but I really have to say, when I compare it to my friend's Samsung GALAXY Note... the weight of my streak is a big big difference...
delete the post. sorry..
Compare to Galaxy Note, the design in Dell Streak is better. Also Galaxy Note looks like a Chick-phone, which it is because samsung advertise it targetting for secretary/Office Lady who like to take a note alot.
I am still waiting for better phone to replace my Streak, probably the one that comes with Quad Core Tegra 3 processor, and 720p display that is "not an AMOLED", and better design than Galaxy Note.

How will you re-purpose your Atrix?

Seeing how our phones aren't going to be updated, I'll be getting something different soon. But that got me to wondering what to do with my phone.
No, thanks. I don't want to sell it, and the idea of this thread isn't about that sort of option. Thanks for looking
I want to know if anyone has any ideas for re-purposing the phone so it is still useful. As well as any apps/accessories that it will require.
Any thoughts are welcome. From the serious to the hilarious. Just no motofail junk please. There are better threads for that.
I can think of, entertainment center, SIP phone, micro-tablet, pimped out neck chain.

Other than the last one, I don't think that I am realizing the full potential of the device.
And I'm hoping that, even though I opened with the whole Mr.T thing, there will be some serious suggestions.
If not, at least be entertaining please.
I am certain that there are some great ideas, I hope that you guys will share them. Thanks.
Pimped out neck chain. Let's get fancy. :good:
But the main idea I got would be to make it a server : Media server, web server or game server if you're able to compile an open-source game server for ARM and run it on Android.
After I upgrade (likely to the SGS3), I plan to use my Atrix as an entertainment device... MP3 player, video, that sort of thing. Not exactly sexy, but it beats my Creative ZEN player into the dust. (I'll also be keeping it as a backup phone.)

I turned my atrix into a emulator system and crammed as many emulators and games as I possibly could. With the sixaxis app for ps3 controller use and the HDMI mirror I have a ball when I have free time.

I'll always keep my Atrix as a backup phone. It just takes a lot of stress off when I'm modding my phones to have a backup.
If you screw something up, you have the luxury of waiting an extra day or too if you need it...

Got a question regarding this topic since I plan on getting a different phone at the end of the year after the wave of new phones come out.
Since the Atrix is not 4G/LTE, I assume a new sim card be provided with a new phone that is...am I right to assume this? The reason I ask, is that my plan is to keep the Atrix and use it as a media player and also as a GPS device on the golf course. Can someone tell me if GPS will still be active if I keep the sim card in there. I plan on staying on my ATT account so I would think my plan should work. But I know these carriers can kill a good plan very quickly.
Atrix has an amazing battery life, about 7 hours web surfing versus 4:30 on my Galaxy Note. I'm with you on not being eager to sell it. For the second hand price I will not get anything even close to the specs of Atrix.
I'm also one those people I have to have a contingency plan for vital things. Two phones, two laptops, and two wives (just kidding) in case one was broken or moved back with her parents.
I've been using my Atrix as a phone mainly and GNote for everything else. I will be watching this thread to see if I can put Atrix in more use. Three spare batteries and two desktop chargers await eagerly to be used.

The sim card shouldn't have any effect on the gps. What will matter is pre-cached maps or an alternate data free maps app like CoPilot on the phone. So, basically, other than maps needing data, your gps will work fine.
I will begin to use my Atrix as a smart phone.

I will not repurpose because no phone on the market does what I need it to do
4 inch screen, 16gb onboard memory, finger print scanner
I also like stock blur way more than touchwiz and sense.
this phone was unique and powerful, it should get the upgrade so it can teach the "superphones" how it's done.

But the gs3 blows the atrix away. Minus the fp which 1 out of 300 people used. Motoblur sucks, AOSP is the way to go. Even sense 4 destroys Blur. It's horrible.
This isn't "the world's most powerfull phone" anymore as it was one called. This phone can't teach anything to new phones. except how to not receive promised updates.

I never understood this love of the FP scanner. It is cool and I liked using it, but you can get around it using a pin code so it's only as secure as that.

How's that work? The android window in webtop plays Netflix video badly, and the Netflix app doesn't work on ics/jb where mirroring is smooth.

Thanks for the ideas so far guys, keep them coming.
I'd really be interested in knowing if someone has set up their phone as a dedicated home entertainment center.
I don't think that the dock UI is that great for using it that way.
With the remote it isn't that bad, and I guess that there's an app that would let me control the Atrix from an Android tablet too.
So it might be the best way.
Any alternative entertainment center type apps out there?
What I think would be great is a rom specifically built for this sort of thing. Does anybody know of such a rom that could be used as reference
for porting?
Also...
While I appreciate all of the frustration recently (Me too.), please folks, help keep this thread on topic. I posted links to threads which are
much better places for that in the op so those of us who's mellows have been totally harshed could easily move on over there to 'discuss'
the unfairness of the situation. ( I know I made them tiny... But they are there!)
Again, please, and thank you.
I have a few ideas... most likely, when I eventually replace it, it'll go to a family member as their first smartphone. Hopefully by then the 4.X roms are more solid... otherwise, it'll either become an in-car GPS with offline navigation software or I'll figure out how to get a Debian chroot to play nice (trying to DIY it and the image wont mount properly) and keep it as a backup/secondary computer with a bluetooth keyboard and mouse. In both of the later cases, it'll still be around as a backup should something happen to its replacement.

that screen is gigantic..I can't get around it..3.5 is too small..4 is just right.
Also stock debloated blur is really nice...did you know the blur launcher is one of the smallest launchers in file size? it is even smaller and faster than zeamlauncher [which I put on non moto phones]
I love my atrix and will continue to use it as is until I get my upgrade next easter. I will then be getting another 4" phone ( best size there is!) And turning my atrix into a media / mapping system for the car.
Currently I use the car dock, but I have plans to permanently mount it in ym glove box and hdmi it to a 12" touch screen for gps purposes and media. Then usb out to my amp for some kicking tunes! That way I can actually removee the stereo completely from the car and just use the atrix.

Is the 32GB enough for you?

Hi.
I just sold my S6 Edge 128Gb to get the S6 Edge+. I didnt use as much data as I thought I would. Im now even considering the 32GB version.
What version of the Plus do you have 32 or 64GB and especially those with 32GB has this been enough?
Cant decide.

How much stuff do you carry around in your phone.?
I have a 32Gb G928F version - sim free and its fine, I wasn't prepared to spend an extra £70 on top of the £599 I paid for my S6 Edge + just for an extra 32Gb.
So i got a 64Gb sandisk, USB 3, OTG micro flash drive for £25
http://www.amazon.co.uk/SanDisk-Ult...-11&keywords=sandisk+64gb+usb+3.0+flash+drive
So bottom line is how much music or films do you want to carry on your phone? if like me you store your stuff on the cloud or USB drive 32Gb is enough.
Got 64gb. Don't want to think if i will have enough space in future...

all my pictures and videos go to onedrive and google pics so 32 gigs has been more than fine for me, i got my s6 edge plus almost 2 months ago and have over 20 gigs free space..
A Device which has unexpendable storage always sucks. You -32Gb lover guys- know that the one recovery backup is over 5 Gb even without much data on this phone? I mean there are good roms for s6 edge+ now and some guys -like us- are always switching their roms weekly even daily. Its not enough storage to get two or three backups on internal. There will be dozens of rom, can't even imagine that how much we will suffer because of the poor storage.
Not going to root

Yup, the rooting is nothing about the low storage trouble. You do root or not . It doesn't increase or decrease the device's storage. You have free internet to upload your stuffs to cloud perhaps we don't. So our stuffs always stay on internal storage which is not enough to hard users. If the guy love modifying and tweakking there will be a sick-trouble 32Gb Im sure.
I have an ipod which is the only device which will connect to the system in my car and keep my music separate so yeah it's enough for me. If I didn't use the ipod no it wouldn't be.

That's all relating to AOSP. Obviously TouchWiz is more filled, but it can be slimmed down a bit. Regardless.... USB-OTG exists for a reason as does the cloud. I don't hold music on my phone. It's why I have Spotify and Pandora. Realistically, there's no need for anything above 32gb. If you're concerned about backuos, move them elsewhere, upload them, or utilize USB-OTG.
It's not rocket science... not to mention cost to data ratio, you're better off spending less for a USB drive over the 32gb extra for another $100....

Hey. As I said before if a person is using the device heavily, its not enough. Im archiving my documents since 12 years. I don't use laptop or kind of device it causes keeping my everything in my pockets and there are lots of people as me. Over three thousand musics, dozens of movies, videos, apps, documents etc. Imagine..Yeah there is an otg tech on present days but there are some devices which have 256Gb internal storage aaaand 'micro sd card slot'. Woah.. So its not a rocket science as we saw. Build a device which has more storage capacity is not so hard at least a bloody sd slot. Everyone doesn't use devices as basicly as you are. Otg is not the healty solution while people are eating a tortilla on the moon.

To assume I don't use my devices heavily is an understatement. I can't remember the last time I've seen my data usage sub 40gb. To keep movies on your phone is ridiculous. You watch then once or twice. No need to keep them. Not to mention alternatives like netflix and popcorn time... perhaps cell coverage and data plans differ out there, but I have no need to keep movies or music on my phone when it's all able to be streamed. can't f you choose to keep 12 years of documents and whatever else on your phone without a backup source like a pic or external hard drive, I just hope you never lose your phone or get it stolen.. or crush it... or anything to damage the internal memory. It's definitely not the smartest choice.
Nor do I have the desire to spend an extra 100+ on extra internal storage for a device I'll have no more than 6 months. That's just wasted money. The best options are cloud storage and USB-OTG. Welcome to present and future technology. And if you want to rely on a device for music storage,at least get yourself an iPod or something with a remotely decent audio Chipset

Hey. I don't keep the movies and never watch twice, sometimes downloading generally transfering from other guy's devices with superbeam. I know the cloud tech and I have 2TB otg. I don't think that the ipod's sound quality is better than my devices' and no need to fourth device. Always search for new tweaks and mods to get higher and best sound quality due to that Im using android. Spotify, deezer and kind of apps are just useful to find new musics for me but I use qualified tunable music players. Whatever let the users decide for which storage capacity is useful for them. Thanks.

I hate cloud services, simply because I live in a country with poor connectivity... but I have to say that after sugarsync, spotify and using more podcasts, my ege+ with 32GB still have 14Gb free.

T-Mobile variant external storage

I received mine yesterday and noticed there is no spot for my SD card... Anyone notice this and know why??
Its because there is no SD card support for the OP6T.....quite a simple answer. Some phones take SD cards, some do not. This phone does not. you should have know that had you done a little research before buying this phone.
Appreciate the feedback. I thought it was an iPhone thing and didn't even think that OnePlus did that.

It's more and more common to not have SD slots in phones. Big internal storage and cloud storage are taking over the need for SD slots, and freeing up room for other hardware features.
Personally, I've never needed more than a 64GB phone, but I've found myself waiting on an order for the 256GB version of the 6T. I suspect having the extra storage capacity will make me use it.
I'll never buy the argument 'its not needed' bull story, especially from OnePlus. Same for the headphone. Kinda violates their own motto: Never Settle. Such a small and insignificant change from a software/hardware view.

I've been in the same boat. Once I hit 64gb I've been good. Even with system backups.
But I'm also a heavy user of Google photos and Google Drive, so I can understand how it's not for everyone.
The only time I've come close is multi boot and having multiple iso's for drivedroid.

Having no SD Card slot has otherwise been OnePlus' M.O., not exactly news.
Of course we'd all rather have the option.
But,unless OnePlus wants to dip their toe in the water again with a mid-tier/budget phone,I seriously doubt we'll see a SD Card slot on any future models.
It's one of their design/build choices to keep mfg costs down, don't see that changing anytime soon.

Being the OPO, OP2, OPX, OP3, OP3T, OP5, OP5T, OP6, and now OP6T have never had an SD slot...strange you just now noticed.

Again with your jump to conclusions. I'm a patient man, gave them plenty of time to make it happen and to go above and beyond expectations
I think it's a fair trade-off. If we were forced to accept only 64GB (which is less in practice) then the absence of Micro SD support would truly suck. But I think 128GB base is fair for most and the 256GB option is more than fair. 128GB needs to be the industry standard base option moving forward.
Cloud services can be helpful but ultimately you're at the mercy of data/WiFi coverage which I was never a fan of. But, like I said. 128GB base is fair enough. I can live with that.
If there is ever a need for extra storage for something like bringing along TV Shows or Movies to watch during a long trip or whatever, there's always USB-C Flash Storage sticks. They've gotten pretty compact and practical to use.

Saw this post and looked into USB c flash storage drives. Not bad priced. Just hope the 6T can read it. I had a USB c card reader from Anker laying around and put my 256gb sd card in it and the phone would not read it. So I tried my 128gb SD card...nope. Tried a 32gb, 8gb and a 1gb as well lol would not read. Also tried using the SD card adapter that you slide the micro into. Same, won't read.
Mainly just need it for movies and TV shows I have that I just haven't had time to upload to my Plex, also for the tons of roms I have for different emulators. Has anybody gotten any kind of card reader or external storage to work?

Oh, nice. I'm glad you mentioned this because I just tried this out and it works! It was just a theory because I never actually tried it on other phones. I just knew USB-C flash drives existed. I'm using one of the Samsung adapters that came with my previous Note and S phones and a PNY 128GB USB 3.0 drive. I transferred a picture from my phone to the drive and checked on my PC and it was there. I was also able to play an HD video from the drive on the 6T using the MX Pro video player (my fave video player).

No way, meenova is still around! I had one of their adapters years ago. Still have it somewhere it doesn't work anymore tho. But yeah, could be defective unit. I tried everything. Double checked settings all that. Probably just gonna return it. I'll be purchasing the meenova adapter. Thanks man I appreciate it!
