Hello everyone. I have just a quick question for ya. I know on the s3 on Verizon (where I came from) the native tether on ParanoidAndroid was free.Is this the same on tthis phone and carrier? I don't wanna use the built in tether if it's gonna charge me. Thanks in advance.

Hey is there a android 2.1 app or kernel that can use the wifi tether app that got removed from the marke?
It's on its way. Sit tight.
whats on its way?
i just bought my Moto Droid the other day i had a htc XV6800 before this so i thought id start looking at hacking my droid
WiFi tether is coming soon for the Droid, the custom kernel has been compiled so now we need a rom to use it, that is the basics of it.
ok well my android experience is a bit lack but could a pre-existing rom be tweeked to utilize the new kernel? or is the problem no utilization but the 2.0 firmware?

Thanks! Been waiting for this. This allows it to be used as a hot spot too right? Letting you connect your ipod touch, etc?
Thanks again for your work. Appreciate it.
Hi,
I was thinking of picking up a Xoom, but I was wondering if it would be possible to tether using my Blackberry at all?
Thanks

hi folks.. I have a couple questions.
1. Can I tether (via USB) my A7 to my non-rooted Sprint evo.. if so what tethering app do I use?
2. I have a Verizon USB 3g modem... can I use it with my tablet? What program do I use?
Thanks all keep up the great work..

No on both counts.
So.... rooting my evo.. I love it as it is.. how much better is it rooted.. I am tempted because of free WiFi... but from a functional stand point it is pretty good stock..

I rooted mine with unrevoked3.
The biggest reason I did it was for wifi tethering.
root + Wireless Tether (available from market) = joy
If you are not going to be running custom roms and such, the only difference you will notice is an app called "Superuser Permissions" in your app drawer... And the superficial feeling of superiority over most other (normal) Evo users due to the fact that your phone now does what you want, and theirs still doesn't
Edit: after rooting, only use the tether app for tethering and DO NOT use the HotSpot app that came with the phone. That is, unless you actually want to pay Sprint $30 extra a month to actually be able to use your "unlimited" data plan.
Hi All,
Apologies if this is the wrong place to ask these questions. Please let me know if I should move the thread.
Backstory: I bought an unlocked S3 off of craigslist last weekend. I bought a SIM card adapter so my nano-sim from my iPhone 5 will work in the S3. I really love the phone, minus a few issues. I can't get LTE to work, and the battery seems to be pretty bad as it's constantly searching and dropping my 3g cell signal.
It's running Android 4.2.2 via Cyanogenmod. All I know is that this is not the standard Touchwiz OS that ships with the S3 from samsung, and is a variant of the standard 4.2.2 OS from Google.
Questions:
1. Is my lack of LTE due to the OS? Someone recommended to me that I should put the phone back to the stock Touchwiz OS (via Mobile Odin), which would enable the LTE. Think that's the case? Or is this an issue with my Nano SIM and AT&T account?
2. Using this Cyanogen 4.2.2, I don't get any onscreen notifications when I get a text, email or calendar alert. My friends with stock S3's and Notes all get these types of notifications. Am I missing something with Cyanogen 4.2.2 or should I try to go back to Touchwiz?
3. If I were to go back to touchwiz, I was told I could just download it onto my S3 sim card and install/load it via Mobile Odin. Is this the case? This is my first time working with Android phones, so it's all greek to me for now. If I switch to stock Touchwiz, will I lose all of my aps and configurations and have to re-set it up? What other cool things would I be losing?
I really do love this phone and would love to stick with it over my iPhone 5. The lack of LTE, good battery life (probably can be improved with tweaks) and onscreen notifications are making it tough for me to make this my daily driver.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated!!

Hi All,
I have install Kitkat4.4.4 recently. Everything is working great.
But only the Hotspot & Tethering not working.
On the phone I enable hotspot & tethering and the Icon came on but other device can't see or detect the hotspot.
Samsung Galaxy Note GT N7000.
Anyone please help.
Thanks

bump
I had this issue with a wifi usb dongle & I had to go into the profile and manually add the device to have it be seen. But I couldn't get it to connect to that pc for some reason.
Its worked so far on the other 3 tablets I tested it on though. Are you using a cheap/ebay usb dongle by chance like I did and it wouldnt work?

I'm using N7000 too on the latest build. I can use tethering. Did you perform a clean wipe?

Thanks for the confirmation here... I can't find my Micro-SIM adapters anywhere so I haven't been able to test anything that requires a SIM in my N7000 lately.
(The 4210 family is probably going to be getting dropped with L due to lack of maintainers.)
