Download and install Drivers : Over Here !
Get ODIN: Over Here...
The process is meant for Galaxy S3 I9300

_First Power off device.
_after it's off, press and hold: vol.down-home-power
_then press volume up to continue
_then connect your phone to your computer via USB
_Open ODIN as Administrator
(If the phone is connected properly, one of the ID:COM boxes will turn yellow with the COM port numbe)
_Click the PDA tab in Odin and select the CF-Root-SGS3-v6.4.tar.
_In ODIN, check the Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time options. DO NOT TOUCH ANY OTHER OPTION!
_Click on the Start button in ODIN and it will start the installation process.
_Once the installation is done, the phone will restart, you can unplug the phone from the computer.
*And you should be good to go... with CWM too !
EnjoY Your rooted JB 4.1.2 SIII
Tested and verified to be working
if it doesn't work, you need to re-flash with auto reboot unchecked, then boot recovery to trigger installation
NOTE: I CANNOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY IN CASE YOU DO SOMETHING WRONG OR SOMETHING HAPPENS FOR UNKNOW REASON OR ANYTHING !
Press Thanks if i helped !
Eureka!

You should also add that if it doesn't work, you need to re-flash with auto reboot unchecked, then boot recovery to trigger installation......but then if you did that this post would be identical almost to chainfires, hence making this post fairly redundant

You should maybe add that KIES is turned off or even uninstalled. Otherwise odin will habe problems.
Anyway I guess anyone appreciates your effort but I also don't get the point of this thread as it is already included in the basic guides, in chainfires threads and who else knows where. But anyway thanks.

yes, if you posses any logic, then all the things in the instruction have some effect on the outcome.
1. this had been posted before.
2. you haven't removed usb debugging from the guide
Ok, let's stop with the trolling. If you think something is wrong with the guide, post it and move along. If it is something that will brick someone's device, report it and a moderator will address it. Thanks for your cooperation.

I see you are using XXJPQ, this is an unknown ROM to us, root is not implemented for this ROM. It may need special tweaking. Have you tried the "rageagainstthecage" method?

yes, this JPQ i can't find anywhere, it came on kies, here in croatia.. i tried "rageagainstthecage", but stil freezes (not responding) on "waiting for device".. i'm crazy, do you know where i can ask for that tweaking or developing?

try this one it works every time for me on all roms i have tried

it will work good luck
Super One Click HAS to work.
Since you updated you might not have USB debugging enabled... so make sure you do.
Also, try removing your SD card. (know it sounds stupid... but do it anyway.)

yeees i enabled.. and when i check drivers it says "no issue found!!" i think a problem is that JPQ. i will try tomorrow to save it and upload it.
I was having trouble rooting till a few days ago. of course, i was technically inept and kind of stupid. and though i see your problem might be a bit different because of the official ROM, but it's worth a shot.
Which version of SOC are you using? the one in the rooting thread or the latest one? the 1.7 didn't work for me, neither did 1.8 but 1.9 did the trick. Try that.
did you do the boot method? you turn on the phone while the rooting process is running on your pc and it is waiting for a device?

Hi
I'm a newbie at this so be friendly :]
I just got an S4 and I felt very happy. However I hate those sudden stutters that occurs every 20-45 seconds.
the three devs option on 0.5 and animation is completely off still a bit lag.
Fixed S voice home button delay lag.
I want to install this rom. People say that with this specific rom it makes the phone much more butter smooth than stock.
Question is how, how do I install it step by step.
Appriciate all help given .

For the second one, no. You just need to download and install ODIN on your PC. Also KIES, for the drivers. Make sure that, after you install Kies, you kill the application from Task manager (and also kies agent). And (obvious) all the files in the post.
Then proceed as explained in the post. Please have a look, read, and if it is not clear come back with questions.

hi there,
i have s4 i9500 and i would like to know if installing a rom in related to the sim lock since i'm locked on a carrier will i be able to install a rom and use he phone to make calls or not?
Galaxy Note 3 Verizon
My fault. I was following a youtube video on how to get free tether. I did it, rebooted my phone and now
I am stuck at the white Verizon screen. After I did this I found the process was for TMobile, not Verizon.
It's been 3 days now and I'm afraid to do anything. A few folks have said, all I need to do is reflash with
a Verizon stock rom. I know for most, this is probably simple but, I'm almost in tears over this because I don't
even understand that instruction. I'm pretty sure once I have the correct file, I can flash my phone. I just
don't know what the name of or where this file is?
I did download these files hltevzw_MJ7rootODEX.zip and hltevzw_MJ7rootDeOdex.zip but I'm afraid to move for fear it's not the right one.
Is there anyone out there that might want to help?

That's OK, though, if you can get into download/ odin mode you *should* be able to odin a copy of MJ7 or MJE. Try the steps listed in the guide I posted and see if that works first.

The file you need is N900VVRUBMJ7_N900VVZWMJ7_N900VVRUBMJ7_HOME.tar.md5. That is the Stock ROM that came with your phone and that is what you need to flash with Odin. You can download Odin 3.09 from this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2189539. Install Odin on your computer and launch the application. Boot the phone into download mode, connect your phone via your USB cable and make sure that the Com slot turns blue, it may take a second as windows might need to install the correct drivers. Click on the AP slot and browse to the TAR file you downloaded. After you load the file into the AP slot, press start. This will flash the stock firmware on to your phone, it will be just like the day you brought it home from the store. Everything will be wiped out and reinstalled. Don't be scared to do it though, it's probably the only way you will get things working correctly again. Hope it all works out for you!

Use kingo. Search for it on Google. Hook up to your pc with your USB cable. Make sure USB debugging is on. To enable USB debugging go into about phone in your settings and press build number seven times, it will open up developer options. You can enable it there. Kingo is simple, after your plugged in just press root. Theres nothing to it. Personally I would replace the superuser app that comes with kingo with the one from the play store. Open superuser and select settings, at the bottom select "switch superuser app". It will uninstall and you can install the trusted version from the play store. Enjoy.

Need more info, but there are many things that could cause this. Bad cable, bad USB port, bad computer, bad drivers, not running Odin as administrator, etc. also, make sure you use the rear USB ports if your on a desktop, front ports often cause problems.
Lastly, cool down the attitude or the xda community definitely won't help you in the future.

Lastly, cool down the attitude or the xda community definitely won't help you in the future.

don't know what happened. i ran it as admin and never had a problem with front ports.
it says "odin encountered a problem" and them boom. shuts down. i can't even get into recovery
right now it's at "downloading...do not turn off target" and staying there. odin keeps closing

Still need more info. Did you grab the very latest CF-Autoroot from Chainfire's site?
Did you follow cruise350's directions as to USB ports and did you try another cable - seriously USB cables make a HUGE difference.
Okay..
Fist take a breath.
Unplug the phone from the USB.
Pull the batter and leave it out for 5 earth minutes. Leave it out for now.
Restart your PC.
Make sure you have, as mentioned, the very latest CF-Autoroot from chainfire.
Launch cf-autoroot 'as administrator' and leave it open on the desktop.
Put the battery back in your phone and then go into download mode - power on + volume down, then volume up to confirm download mode entry.
NOW plug the phone into the PC. If it shows up on as green COM port (doesn't matter which one) then press start and see if it takes.

NO
Really do a little reading there is a 720T thread with loads of information. Right now there aren't really any ROMs that run (completely - yes I know some have gotten Sac's and some AOSP ones to work but you'll lose SPARK and possible more!) fully with 720T.
Flashing away without doing some research - actually a whole lot, is just asking to turn your great device into a pretty paperweight.
Slow down, learn all you can about how the phone works - stock. Read, search and read some more and you'll be very happy.
Good luck.
Moved from the android dev section to general section as suggested by @malbert16442 This should not trip knox but Im guessing most people who are viewing this already have anyway . Simply Download on your PC, put your device into download mode (power off phone and hold volume down, home button and power button and let go when you see the download mode icon) and place the file in the AP slot in Odin.

It worked on my S5 but will not root using CF auto root. Mine locked up and had to re-flash.
Anyone root this yet and how?

For MM, you have to use a different method called systemless root. I did it a while ago and there is a written out tutorial over on the "sprint gs5 android 6.0" thread in this forum. Just use the search tool there and search "systemless root."
Decisions, decisions - - use this to 'upgrade stock' from my rooted stock deox and have phone totally reset ...or wait for deox stock MM PCA and see if it will take without reset ...
hmmm
Was all hot to upgrade the 2 yo phone , but nothing compelling..nothing faster with qi charging, radio, ir blaster , sd-card slot, water proof , and definetley nothing with removable battery. S7 is the closest and it is locked down ..so sad.

This should be in the DEV section. If he told you to move it, it was probably because your original link didn't work.
Flashed successfully, phone stuck booting. Did it take an excessive amount of time to boot for any of you? Thank you for this!

Wiping data did it! Thank you!
Has anyone tried flashing this using flashfire, injecting root, and flashing the stock partitions via Odin with success? Wile my phone is beyond the warranty period, I have not tripped knox yet and would like to keep it that way if possible. I was able to have completely stock rooted OK4 with this method.
Just to be clear -- will applying this tar via Odin do the full update of MM bootloader, kernel, modem (if applicable), etc etc?

Yup! So you will be able to flash custom roms like @malbert16442 s7 port without any issues (well when he releases V3 as he a group of people beta testing it right now and according to @philiptibbs who is among them V3 works fully with sprint. And on 2.5 everything works but sending sms (recieving sms and sending/recieving mms work fine though, not sure why thats the case.)
