[Q] Saving pictures from emails??? - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, new member here. Sorry if this answer is available in the forum, but i can't find it.
When i recieve an email on my nexus 4, how can i save a picture that may be attached? I've read just to touch the picture and hold, and and option to save will appear but it doesn't. Also, how do i empty my email recycle bin, and how can i put an accidentally deleted email back into my inbox? (from the recycle bin)
Sorry if all this should be easy, but i'm very much a novice.
Thanks
Will

If it is the Gmail app you can look at the bottom of the email and it will show the image under Attachments. Click this picture and it will open in the Gallery. From here click the 3 dots at the top and select Save.
I do not use the Email app and it sounds like you may be using that. I don't have a recycle bin in Gmail.

email attatchments

also posted in the faults section so apologies for double post , just not sure if its me or a genuine glitch ?
Am i being stupid ? A friend sent me an email via hotmail that syncs easily and quickly with my leo. Attatchments download ( they are pictures) and i can open them to view them. But then when i want to save them i cannot see any option too, apart from save screen image. So i do that, then it says saved, but do you think i can find it ? lmao. and i know they are there coz if i try and save them again with same filename it says file already exists. They are not showing in any album, or in 100media folder, and when i do an all album check after saving them again the album count does not go up if you get me ? i have a horrible feeling that i am doing something stupid and someones gonna come on and go ...duuurrrrr. lol

Email account features improvement

I have my Nexus since two days, and I have a big experience with Windows Phone, so the comparision is easy
In email account, I cannot modify the font size, the default is too small to read a lot of text.
Second, in Deleted folder, I add some message, to erase in second time...
There is not a feature to Empty deleted Items, all in one, so I spend a lot of time to open one, delete, and so for the complete list...
Is there a solution to modify and add that features?
thanks
Not sure about the font size but you can select multiple email in the deleted items list then delete in one go using the ticks.

Check out TouchDown, great exchange app! Free, and while it is only a 5 day demo, you can just click on settings, quick configure, then configure and it starts the 5 days over again so you never have to pay if you don't want to... I went ahead and still bought it, $20 yes, but it is damn good, and I can access my work email even though my tech dept wouldn't change my account settings so I could.
As for the stock app, you can select and delete multiple emails the way the last guy said... as for font size, no idea.
K9mail is the solution
Just get the latest version from Google code page and read help about folders organisation

[Q] Problem saving email attachments

hi all, as per title,
i have been sent some pictures into my yahoo accounrt.
i can view them on my phone but there is no option to save them :-(
does anyone have any ideas?
the options and settings are limited as i can see.
i did have an excel file i sent, that opened with quick office and gave me the option to save but then the file contains none of the data on the spreadsheet.
any advice or input would be wonderfuel.
thanks.
mahender.
solved i think
when email picture attachments are donloaded, the phone saves them in the camera folder under 'downloads'
it either also then adds them to 'all pictures'
or
i have had to move them using dual file manager i have installed.
if there is another way then please let me know
i think that it will also save anything from the email. i have deleted them now but there were little facebook banners and my yearbook banners in there too.
i dont really want to download every image from an email just what i choose.
regards
mahender.

When you move the email to another folder, it does not create a copy of that email - it MOVES it, therefore there is still only one copy.
If you then delete this copy, it will be gone to the trash.
Answer: Do not delete an email if its the only copy!
ok cool that will work txs

I think I understand a bit more what's going on...
GMAIL doesn't have "folders" like we're used to in Outlook and Hotmail, instead it has "stars" and "tags".
When you "move to a folder" you actually just assign it a tag, the email stays in your main folder. You can't really make copies to other folders.
Think its wired to have list on left to do nothing with then .....wth. wish they could save emails ....

Assigning photos to contacts

I just got my S8 today. On my s6 I was able to easily add photos to individual contacts. However I cant see how to do this on s8. I have read online about opening the contacts app, selecting edit and press the camera icon. But there is no camera icon. All edit does is allow me to edit the contact name number and email address.
What am I missing here? How do I add the photos on contacts?
You click on particular contact name: you'll see 4 icons with rightmost being details: click on that, big camera is above the name: click on that and you'll have camera on to take picture you can save. I have not figured out how to pick pictures already taken from gallery yet. If you imported contacts from your old phone, older pictures should transfer as well.
I created a folder that has all my Contact picture headshots in it. The only was I got this to work was to copy the actual photos directly into the Gallery folder. You cannot copy the entire folder. At least not for me. When I copied the entire folder over, Gallery did not recognize it. When I copy and pasted all the individual photos, it did not recognize them until I rebooted the phone. At least then it recognized them. I was using Exchange for Outlook. It keeps overwriting the locally attached profile pics or something was causing them from going from large photos to small ones . At the end of the day, I ended up going back and attaching photos on my laptop thru Gmail and then having Gmail automatically sync those with my phone. Make sure you have Gmail selected under Contacts. The only other issue I am trying to solve now is to find a Caller ID program that shows large contact photos on incoming and outgoing calls.
1. Select photo from Gallery
2. From options menu select Set as contact picture
3. From the contacts list choose the contact
4. Crop the photo
5. Press Done

Go to contact, click edit then *click on contact picture. Under the camera mood there are cartoon characters in boxes select the yellow flower with a white background on the buttom left hand side click it. It will take you to your album where you can select whatever picture u want to save as the contact picture. I hope this help I just did it. Wish I can post a video on how to. Bye
