First, there are only two tabs.
Second, they are brass, not gold.
Third, I believe they are springs designed to keep the door under tension and facilitate its removal.

The ones you are talking about are on either side of the phone when you take the cover off. There are corresponding spots on the cover. Mine are a silver color. The ones the original poster asked about are indeed gold in color and number in three. I say they are there for testing purposes. A faster way to connect to the phone maybe.
The HTC carkit mount comes with a special battery door cover, that the mount snaps into, and also connects through...so it's just a guess (I don't have the carkit myself), but I'd think those are the pins that the car mount uses to pass data, or current for charging

Yes, i would say the same thing. I would guess they are for the car kit because the base of the car kit has power running through it
I would have to jump on the bandwagon on this one and say yes to the carkit feature, due to the pictures found here:

I tell this to my own children, don't take anything personal on the InterNet?,
Get what you can out of it? and filter the Trash?, and yes I am really human so on occasion I will have trash too?
If you look at the very simple "Question" I was asking? "Do You Know?" what this is? and if you do? "Please" let me and everyone who is Interested "KNOW"
If you are one of the low percentage of people who are self-aware, then you will understand this?
I spend time on the InterNet and most of that time is spent Filtering the Trash?
70% of what is written here serves no purpose? and of course there will be those who will debate? and I don't care? because it's the InterNet! need I explain that?
To all the "Sensitive People" out there? Have a Happy Great Day!
I don't know what you all are talking about. Maybe a picture would help?

Some people have speculated that it is for Kar Kit?
I have been researching for the past few days and have come up with very little?, I have found an HTC site that has some info on it but I have to translate when I have time?

If we removed all the responses that weren't certain, you'd be sitting here talking to yourself right now.
Most everyone who tried to point you in the right direction did indeed mention that their answers (mine included) were speculation and not first-hand knowledge. If that isn't useful to you, we've granted all forum members the right to ignore any post they want. Yes, any. And we set it up such that you can (and should!) do so without flaming anybody
Someone truly self-aware would recognize that even if help doesn't come in the exact form requested, it's not worthy of disdain.

You are right on many things, but I was not looking for "Absolutes", I was just looking for some "Idea" for it what it might be?
and I regress in my reasoning in putting "Wrong" x3, once should have been enough, my skin became thin from just leaving a controversial site so my frustration level was all wound up?, That I apologies for.
On the matter that I would be "Sitting by Myself?" (Billy Idol,"Dancing with Myself" come to mind) , you are right!, I forgot to turn "Filter" on, so I committed same "Sin", like I said please forgive that one?, I could talk all day about how "If" people would act? but we don't live in a perfect world? actually the opposite.
and for all, as I said before, Have a Happy Great Day!
Lets now leave the Emotional part and get to the Fun Tech Part.
I did find out by talking to T-Mobile Rep Tier 2, it "Is" a Test port, has communication I/O, and can be used for Kar Kit with BlueTooth/bottom micro USB port.
The "Test port" is what I am interested because if you can talk using USB architecture then you can do other things with it? example; Robotics, card readers, Web Cams and many more?, I have been reading the Registry for any clues, or Info on this? That is why I brought up this topic?
The "Test port" is used at factory for reliability testing in a burn-in chamber that they use for getting faulty units out of the mix?
This is what I have so far? if anyone else can add pertinent info it will be greatly appreciated.

You did manage to make my ignore list though. Congratulations!
Yeah, those spots are where the back cover used with the car kit connect to the car kit. I never heard of them being used for anything else, but it might be possible. I think power and audio can be sent through those. It also tells the HD2 to go into the navipanel when carkit is connected to it. When looking through the registry, look around the navipanel stuff. It would be cool if we could find some more uses for that port.
More info
I was told that the center tab is data negative and the left tab is data positive and they use case for ground, now I need to figure out how the USB interface works with this? I have been searching the T-Mobile USA HTC HD2 threads for info, but have not found anything? will try the other HD2 original thread to see if anything there can help?
Maybe there is a ROM list of commands supported somewhere to help in the communication interface,
I rigged a 3 wire interface for monitoring only I don't want to put any signals in yet until I understand how it is working?and I am using a program called Boxcar to send signals out of which I can see changes but have yet to determine exact output? This is going to take some time?
Boxcar is a WM2003 program but seems to work with WM 6.5 and is good to use because of the wide variety of interfaces it can use withe the USB transceiver module, Temperature probes, pressure transducers and DAC's Digital to Analog Converters, I also have a serial module but I don't want to go that way? USB is the preferred faster interface.
But ultimately my goal is to make my own Kar Kit interface with a greater amount of control of what it does?
I had already built an Interface that works well with the Ford Sync interface on my car (I use to work for a company that built TED Air condition seats for Ford so I am familiar with the system), but that is using my Laptop and I would like to do the same using only the HD2? Baby steps.
I don't know if anyone here has the knowledge about the HD2 to help me? as it's a new device and info is minimal? I may have to wait until that info level is reached?

Good Grief,
You need one of those things in your post saying "Do not try this at home" I can see it now all these folks sautering wires to the backside of their phones.... And then saying "my phone just smoke checked, what do I do"
I'm planning on building a docking station, and I find it kind of sad that you can't connect an OTG cable and recharge the N7 at the same time, and so I'm curious if it's at all possible to recharge via the 3 "copper" points on the side.
I'm guessing that you can since Google/ASUS are releasing a N7 specific docking station to listen to music, and I would presume recharge at the same time.
Anyone know anything?
I didn't really know what to search for, looked for 3 point blah dee blah, but no results. If this has been talked about, sorry, and a link to that discussion would be appreciated!
Thank you!
No idea if this helps, but this blah dee blah are called "pogo pins" i think.

Official or not, it's not possible to charge via the pogo pins (or the micro USB port) and use USB OTG at the same time.

Never said you could.
Simply posted the link since he said he was looking to recharge thru the pins and I'm sure they would at least include that. Would be easier to just pick one up than to fabricate, whenever it does come out.
Cheers for the help guys, and thanks for the giving me the correct vocabulary regarding the pins.
Hi guys. I was trying to update my Tab10.1, and almost at the end the flashing process has failed. I am trying to post a splash about the error message but the forum does not allow it to me
Now the tablet does not boot up any more, is not even being recognized by the PC when i plug it in.
I put a testet in the battery, and when i press the power button, the charge starts going down very fast, which means it is not wroken at all.
Any one has a clue what to do to bring back to life??
thanks
First of all are you talking abt tab 2 or note N8000 ?

From looking over the Samsung galaxy note forum here, some one else is having battery problems. Depending on where and when you got it, you might be able to return it. Otherwise, only suggestion is to pop off the back, remove the battery and plug it back in.

I alredy tried that. Even with another battery fully charged in another tablet.
Any other suggestions??
thanks
Well as has been said before the N8000 is the NOTE 10.1, the TAB 2 10.1 models are p5100 p5110 and p5113. If you flashed something for one of those on your N8000 then you have most likely HARD bricked it.
You could try the Unbrickable Resurrector or possible a USB Jig if there is one that works with your tablet.
I think you flashed the wrong rom to your device and you've hard bricked it.
It's now a paper weight. Find papers. Please read next time!
the only 800 or 8000 that has a tab name attached to it is the Galaxy Tab SCH-I800 for Verizon, even if that is the one you have you flashed a ROM for the WRONG device as that would be a TAB, NOT a TAB 2.
This is a proto device guys. I know what i am doing, is not a wrong firmware the one i am trying to install.
The problem was when odin tried to write the nand.
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/546/n8000.jpg/
I tried disconnecting battery, and placing it back on. There's no much else to try. The battery charges if you plug it with itys charger. I measured that with a tester, but the PC is not recognizing it anymore.
A been trying to find a jig for tablets, but as far as i know, there's still no solution for that.
I already got another sample from the OEM, but i would like to keep this one for my own, they never ask for crap back
thanks
Hey there you guys!
(Optional reading)
I am all new in this forum, and I have a few questions about a Demo unit I have gotten my hands on.
Before anyone, asks me how I can have a Demo unit, and if it's stolen, then allow me to explain. Even though you only have my word for it, I hope it is enough.
I work at a electronic store, here in Denmark. (Elgiganten)
Anyway, we had a Samsung Galaxy S4 Demo Unit, in the store.
I was told by my boss to throw in the trash,I asked if I could take it home, which he allowed me.
(Actual post)
Anyway!
What this post is about, Is that I have a few questions about it.
I have been googling and checked out this forum, about the Demo units.
The can't ever be "real" phones ever. They simple miss the modem and antenna hardware.
I don't think that I quite understand, whether it is possible to flash the phone with original/modified firmware.
As far as I have understood, a lot of demo units have been F***ed up, and ended up with no Wifi options and stuff.
I was wondering, if there is a known way to flash it?
And what's I am suppose to do exactly?
I was wondering if I bought a replacement motherboard and threw in it, would work?
Like one I can buy on Ebay?
I'm sorry for the long post, and the loads of question.
I hope that you guys can help get it up and running properly, whether it is without the calling compatibilitys or not
So thank you very much!
- Madsmaten

I'd be hard pressed to believe that Samsung went to a lot of trouble to write an entirely different rom for it. So I'd guess that it's got the same rom as the normal 9505
But I can see where trying to flash a rom it it could go badly. So using odin to root it might be risky. It also might work flawlessly with ease. There is only one way to find out...and sometimes in life you've got to roll the dice.
I would also think you could easily toss a different motherboard in it. You could probably add the radio antenna too. I'd also be hard pressed to believe that Samsung made an entirely different plastic housing just for the demo. So it's probably got all the space and screw holes and all tha tstuff to hold the radio antennea.
So you can either use it as a wifi table as it sits now, with touchwiz, or take a chance and see if you can root it. You didn't pay anything for it so there's not too much risk. That said, how much custominzation do you need for what's probably going to end up being a tablet for the bathroom? It'll probably play games fine, browse the web fine, etc. Do you really need to flash a custom rom to it for those purposes?
I might just leave it alone and enjoy the free wifi device. Makes a great MP3 player / Pandora streamer / etc too.

Thanks for the answer!
I would be delighted with it, using it as a tablet in my home.
The thing, is the Galaxy resets everything every 15 minutes, or reboot.
Which is obvously damn annoying.

Well that's stupid. Maybe it is a different rom afterall....
If its not usable now then you really have nothing to lose by flashing a rom in odin.
Sent from your phone. You should be more careful where you leave that thing.
I have a Verizon Galaxy S4 rooted, and I heard about this app maybe an hour ago. So I tried it, and it was supposed to be only for S3 I guess. Hooo...oh boy...okay see what you did here, is the one thing you don't do. You know how people say "if theres one thing not to do..."? Well you did it. Not trying to be mean, please don't misunderstand. Just trying to convey the gravity of the mistake.
In all likelihood, it's a paperweight now. Might as well gut it for the parts. As far as I know, there is no coming back from that, at least none that would be cost-effective or even mildly user-friendly.
However, when I screwed my GalaxyS3 as such, I was able to bring it back by booting into a rom on my external sd, but I don't believe the S4's have that functionality. Your best bet, search far and wide for "S4 hardbrick"...but don't hold your breath. We live and we learn.

So the device is completely unresponsive from the powered-down state? Try pluggin' it in as-is to a Windows Desktop (or laptop) and see what bubbles popup. If nothing happens...yeah, my sympathies. But if the PC at least notices it, that would mean you're probably in QDL mode, and there may yet be hope. (QDL = Qualcomm Download)

Would a USB Jig perhaps bump it into download mode? Or is that all part of the bootloader? If the bootloader is dead I think the whole lot is scrap.
