Does your nexus change the text message to a MMS when adding more than one recipient?
I understand it does when sending a very long message but this is even before adding any text.
Yes, it's "normal".
What would the benefit of that be?
If you're on a custom ROM it's probably your texting app
Change your settings
Open the MMS app > Settings > Look under "Multimedia (MMS) Messages"> Uncheck " Group Messaging"

Open Messages > Menu > Tools > Options > "Tap SMS/MMS" > Tick the box besides "Request delivery notifications". You'll always get a message back which confirms d msgs were sent & delivered.
if you want just d sent bubble back then download Advanced configuration tool, use it 2 tweak d msgs sent bubble settings back.
Have searched high and low but cannot find anything. I need to know if there is a way to set the email notification sound and a separate one for sms notifications? I know you can change the sound in the gmail app but it doesn't apply to the main email app, so no matter whether I get a text or email it plays the same ringtone - it's very straightforward on winmo but on Android I cannot find anyway of doing it.
Any ideas?
Set your default notification sound as one tone for email. Set notification for messaging as the other.

In Android you can set your ringtone up by opening messaging hit the menu button then settings and look for notifications you should find you can set the ringtone from there, do the same for your email.

All sorted now second post had the answer, your method cannot be used as there is no ringtone settings in the mail app - that's what stumped me first off.

Settings/Notifications/Ringtone. In all messaging/email/Google Talk apps. They can all be changed independent of each other.

Hmmm strange just double checked this Rom on my HD2 and it's there under notifications in settings in both email app & gmail app, also checked my X10 and it's the same so maybe something to do with the rom you're running. As long as you're happy with your fix no probs.

Similar question - is there a way to disable sound for emails and enable sound for texts and vice versa? In volume control under settings, there is only one bar that lets you adjust all notification sound levels.

So I took a few pictures on my Atrix that I wanted to share via a text message...no go.
I have not downloaded any SMS/MMS appz from the marketplace, so using stock/default appz.
SMS is converted into MMS when i attached an image
Send
nothing, image is not sent (not showing in conversation log)
SMS is converted into MMS when i attached an image and add text
Send
nothing, image nor text (not showing in conversation log)
Is this a known issue?
Anyone else have this problem?
Whats the fix?
I'm using Handcent and dont have this problem.
The only way I know to do it is
Gallery > select picture > menu button > share > txt message > resize > send to person

Had the same problem when I first got my Atrix. AT&T had disabled Text Messaging for my line. Other family lines were fine, but mine had been disabled...
No problem since then.. also using Handcent now!
Image is probably too big. Try resizing per what DarrellRaines said.
I currently have R-9 2.3.4GB [KP Base 4.5.91] v4a of the rom installed. After I installed the SMS update zip file. Every time i get a text it shows up a two text instead of one. I constantly have to delete the duplicate text.
Any fix for this?
You need to uninstall/freeze the SMS app you replaced.
Go into the messaging app -> hit menu -> settings -> notifications -> uncheck it off. Profit.

On my Nexus 5 my SMS's showed up in Hangouts.
With my Galaxy S5 I have to install an SMS app just to see any texts that come in.
I would rather use Hangouts if possible?

Did you turn on SMS in the app's settings?
Open Hangouts app > Settings > SMS > Turn on SMS.
