My phone galaxy y S5360L does not work with the regular update package I was a noob at the time so it took me forever to root I finally somehow somewhere found a comment from someone with my same phone having the same problem someone there modified the package and that's how I rooted my phone
A while after that I bricked my phone and flashed stock Rom using Odin the firmware I flashed was a Indian version my phone worked fine and when it was time to root I used the same used as b4 and guess what....it didn't work I had to go back and download the original package which worked
I then realized I couldn't connect to 3g that's when I made an account here and someone told me to flash from my region I did that and tried to root my phone with the package that worked on the Indian Rom and guess what...it didn't work I had to use the file I had found earlier
Don't believe me go to dokys thread and flash the Trinidad and Tobago firmware and try to root your phone

That's not what not newtoroot says he said firmware doesn't matter as long as it's a galaxy y he never said it won't matter in your case. Which it may still very do since its not only my phone (S5360L) that suffers from this

[Q] cant unbirck help please

so my friend download an app and didn't read anything about it before he installed the app. The app was suppose to replace the home launcher but he was suppose to install another app before he installed it but he didn't. I have tried Odin, Kies, and Heimdall with no luck. I have tried them on different computers and with different cables. His phone is a SGH-I337, yes it is rooted but only for one app that was installed that doesn't affect anything. But now it only go to the download screen with the android man even when booted up normally it only fails the [auth] on Odin and it wouldn't even connect to Kies. Any help would be GREAT, he is only giving me 2 day to try and fix it for him then he is going to buy a new phone. Thanks in advance EVEN IF ITS JUST GUESS I'll still give it a try.
What app did you try to install and what firmware are you on. Odin should work if you use the right firmware.

If the phone is running either the MK2 or MF3 baseband then my thread here may be able to help you. Check ted77usa's post (the last reply on the first page) for how I fixed my phone.

I would start with the mf3 tar files in odin. If they don't work try the mk2 tar file

Yes, but he'll have less options in flashing roms if he's interested in that. Otherwise just flash the mk2

Never heard of best buys security. Worst comes to worse you could take it to a best buy with a Samsung experience and they can flash it.

You need to do a lot more reading. I suggest you spend a few hours reading up on things before even thinking of touching your phone, everything you need to know is on these forums. Good luck.

I agree, it sounds as if you may not fully understand what you are doing. Read up on what Odin is and what it does and what you are flashing to your phone. Do not want to end up with a brick!

[Q] Safestrap

Okay guys... Uhm I know this might sound a bit stupid to ask but I'll just ask anyway...
1st I want to start off by saying I bricked my phone before so I had to install the custom rom on my phone which is the NB1.. after I did that I rooted it with TowelRoot.
Today I installed safestrap onto it via this method ---> " http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-att/general/guide-odin-to-stock-updating-rooting-t2926642 ".. of course I followed the "NB1 method" and I succeeded.
Now, my question is, Am I able to install any CyanogenMod version on my phone with this or no? ... I heard you can't.. Hmm. Just a little question .. so if it sounds stupid to ask please don't get angry at me. I'm not new at this but also I am not a pro .. so yeah.

Last i check you not the only one in this forum. I was in 5.1.1 your half way opinion fot me boot looped. Then i had to retore to stock firmware. If you cant help better not comment. And always don't think you know it all. MF . i can get off this forum just because of you.
You signed up to XDA rules.
Hardly my fault you are unable to read and search.
That is why I suggested mobile repair.
Brick or bootloop is you doing something wrong .
