[Q] Safestrap - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

Okay guys... Uhm I know this might sound a bit stupid to ask but I'll just ask anyway...
1st I want to start off by saying I bricked my phone before so I had to install the custom rom on my phone which is the NB1.. after I did that I rooted it with TowelRoot.
Today I installed safestrap onto it via this method ---> " http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-att/general/guide-odin-to-stock-updating-rooting-t2926642 ".. of course I followed the "NB1 method" and I succeeded.
Now, my question is, Am I able to install any CyanogenMod version on my phone with this or no? ... I heard you can't.. Hmm. Just a little question .. so if it sounds stupid to ask please don't get angry at me. I'm not new at this but also I am not a pro .. so yeah.

new samsung galaxy s3

Hello everyone.
I have just bought a new samsung galaxy s3 from china. I want to unlock it and install the newest firmware, all at the beginning before i start installing applications and changing settings the way i want them. For start the phone is sim locked and in Cyprus, where i live, i have to unlock it. The only procedures i saw up to now includes root of the phone which automatically means void of warranty. I don't really mind of it but is there any way to do it without this result? How about changing the phone CSC, is that going to help or this has nothing to do with radio?
I also want to install jelly beans but iam not really sure if the official rom for this model is on the market. Any help and any links would be appreciated!
Thanks!

Once you're not in China why do you care about the warranty?

Yeah you have a point here but the warranty is international and i think it is valid in Cyprus too. But anyhow as i said earlier i don't really care about warranty since most of the times i fix my staff.
Congrats on your new purchase. The best Galaxy ever!
You need root privileges to do an unlock.

1. Download Odin
2. Download cf-root for s3
3. Install cf-root trough Odin
-now you are rooted-
4. Unlock your phone using supercurio app.
5. Read before asking questions already answered like millions of times.

I doubt it. Try reading the warranty card that came with your phone. It states that the warranty is valid only in the country of purchase, AND with a proof of purchase (such as invoice, fiscal document, whatever).
Besides, since your model was bought in China, it may not be a GT-I9300, but a variant (such as GT-I9300T, or any other letter after the "9300"). That info will be under the battery, in the labels in its compartment.
If - and only if - your phone is not exactly a GT-I9300 (w/o any letter after that), flashing an I9300 ROM or kernel to it may brick the phone.
Before doing anything to your phone, read a lot fo stuff in these forums, to minimize your chance of bricking your phone, and get a greater understanding of what and why you'll be doing to your phone.
Anyhow, forget about your phone's warranty: a rooted phone is a lot better than a stock phone.
Thank you very much i will keep that in mind. As far as i know it is GT-I9300 and for the warranty i haven't read it yet but i will.
Ok i finally recieved my phone but when i opened it i was really sad to find out that the software was completely chinese! There is not even a choice to insert my gmail account so i can sync my contacts. When i tried to change the csc with the usual way (*#2372....) the only option i got was the one already installed which is the CHY. So i tried to download the SGS CSC selector app to install a european csc but the only way to download it is by google market, something that i am unable to do since there is not even the google play app in the phone!! I am really unhappy cause i was waiting for this phone for a month and now that i have it, it's all messed up...
Any ideas????

If you have a international galaxy SIII you can try that

No it's an original samsung's product. But i don't know why there is no sign of google in this phone.. And there are also a lot of chinese apps installed. Btw when it boots there is a chinese screen at first and then the normal samsung's logo appears. I wish flashing a rom will get rid all of these chinese things!
Jayden what information would you like to write down for the confirmation of it's international edition??

Already tried a factory reset?.... Hmm suppose u don't know where to look if it's all in Chinese.... I would suggest to ask a dev because I can't tell u if u have a international SIII or not... I guess u have but I am not sure... If u do have one then you can flash any stock rom u want with Odin

I rooted yesterday
Was really easy. Im just a little bit carefull when it comes to rooting a new phone. Soo i always check here before i root stuff.. Mostly phones.
Just dont know how i can install clockwork mod recovery. Its not supported with my phone yet...
And i have bought the app long ago. Ill have to wait. Its very easy and smooth to flash custom room with that app. You dont even need a computer for it.
Anyways. Thanks. I got root now.
..
*bump*
Will the first link in this old thread still work?
http://techglen.com/2013/10/06/root-samsung-galaxy-s4-one-click-versions-guide/
My phone was perfect before. Broke, repaired, and i need CM, and all.
Thinkning about flashing a recovery and go from there. Just reading a bit now.
But, if this still works, then it would be nice.
But now im running.
4.4.2
KOT49H.I9505XXUGNJ3
I9505XXUGNJ3
(When they wiped my perfectly set up phone, and installed that original samsung rom.)
...
Dont wanna mess up something, and this bootloader thingy. Dont know if its locked or unlocked. I got this knox app on my samsung bloatware original firmware right now.
Thanks

[Q] Root & Recovery

Acually... it has been asked a thousand times Before. And all with different versions of phone and so on.
So...I´ll make it easy. I´ll ask three things with what I think is the right answer. If anyone can verify if it is, please do so...

Like I said earlier, download your firmware from samfirmware, flash it with odin. It's easy as pie and you won't lose your warranty cause it's official firmware, if that's what you're worried about.

Sorry for a late reply,
from the top of my head: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/help/guide-odin-flash-guide-t1671969
That's for SGS3 but everything goes exactly the same for Note 3. As for the firmware files you need to register an account at samfirmware (just type it in google) and search for your model and download the package. Unzip it, inside there are two files, just ignore the small one and extract the other. Flash it accordingly to the tutorial from the link above.
EDIT: Read the tutorial and make sure you understand it before flashing! This if done incorrectly may brick your device.
Don't worry, first times always hurts;P
