Hi guys!! While most of us are keen to keep running the latest android versions on 'The King', our HD2, just wondering if your views are similar to mine with the battery drain on most Jelly Bean ROMs as compared to ICS and Gingerbread ROMs.
Please share your experiences and benchmarks for the maximum battery life you've got with a particular Jelly Bean ROM...
Battery drain on JB was marginally higher than ICS/GB for me. However, in standby on NexusHD2 I got 7 days 9 hours (well, a bit more) of battery life with literally no usage (highest drain was Mobile Standby)
seems like the WIFI is the biggest drain on my HD2 (see the ROM I'm running below)
also BT hangs occasionally and turns the phone into a hot coal and the battery will die within an hour.
For my experience with NexusHD2 I can said I had amazing battery life after the first flash, after that I did a mess with my rom and I had to reflash the rom, never had the battery life like the first time, after flashing and flashing again the battery brain fast but all in the same time. I think the installation is very important in this part.

hi guys i almost search every thread of battery drainage but from no where i got any solution.......after a lot of research i resolve my problem my self...........my battery of phone drain very rapidly then i download Go launcher pro and install it on my phone use this whole day as i use daily.....i m shocked to that my phone battery status is 80% remaining after using my phone 17hours 43min and 55s..........its really amazing......this thing work for me.......i m going to love it coz last time my battery drain into 12 or more than hours.........if u have problem then my advice to atleast try this thing once.........hope u ll get better results
SHould some faulty app , i had 2.1 2.2 and 2.3 on the phone i did never noticed such a huge drain , the phone was always quite enough for a full day of usage .
Any congrats on fixing your issue
Battery drain depends on the ROM ( kernel )you are using!
JYP ROM 2.3.4 ( e.g. Ficeto , Criskelo etc ) battery drain is almost not a problem at all . Battery can last up to >3 days depending on the usage .
I installed the Master CPU. Battery lasts 3 days.
I am moved from 2.2.1 on 2.3.4 JVP Chainfire kernel and I have no battery drain at all.
I think battery life increased 50% minimum. Standby on 2.3.4 is amazing
as if 2.3.4 is a little better
I use my HTC HD2 a lot, so the battery drains quite quickly. I'm currently using android 2.3.5 on Hyperdroid CM7.
The battery life is decent, but I can sometimes barely get through one day with only texting and web browsing.
For those who have used both android and 7 mango, can you please compare the battery lives? I'm thinking of making the switch if it means that I can get more usage.

I guess it's NAND Android? For me, WM 6.5 had always the best battery life but with the camera trick I get slightly better battery life in WP7 mango than in Android...
Atm I'm on WP7 mango (yuki/xbmod bttf) and I can get easily through a day (texting, surfing over wifi and some gaming)...
WM 6.5 was the best, but WP7 with old radio (2.12 without T) is near the WM 6.5 autonomy.
Android in 2.2, 2.3.2, CM7, ... was everytime to drainy to have a daily use. Just good enough to play whan plugged to a charger.
What rom do you suggest I use for best battery life?
Hmm, I'm using the Back To The Future Rom updated to mango including the cleanup (that one made the battery life slightly better)
I have 5mAh drain (after battery trick) when in standby and with moderate use it lasts 2 days. With heavy usage easily one day...
I started out with a HTC Touch Pro. Batt. life was okay
Then I got a Milestone (1): Batterylife was ... okay (1 day)
Then I got a Milestone 2 : Batterylife was similar to MS1 (about 1 day)
THEN I got an HTC HD2 and went for MIUI directly. Battery Life was okay also about 1 day. Then I started using SetCPU wich extended my BattLife ENORMOUSLY. I go from about 6 in the morning until about 12 in the night by HEAVY useage (BT almost all the time, PushMail, FB Chat, WIFI running, listening to music via AD2P all the time).
Then I got bored and decided to mess up my life - so I installed WP7. Took me 3 days to install and get unlocked. Don't misunderstand me: I love the OS. I think WP7 is great in means of style and usability. But besides BT-problems, and Market quality, I went back to MIUI mainly because of one thing: THE BATTERY. With BT running and WiFi on, worst days only got me 5 hours of battery time. Totally unacceptable.
As soon as BatteryLife is improved, I will go back to WP7!
I installed CM7 2.3.5 and Mango 7720, Mango has better battery life than CM7.

Even with SetCPU runnning?
i have usually gotten better battery life out of the miui NAND builds than mango but I'm sure if its because i'm usually playing games on mango than i am on android
I'm having such a different experience with battery life. Mango was an awful drain. Camera trick (if I did it correctly) didn't do anything for me and it seemed impossible to gain a full charge while WP7 was running. Had to boot into Magldr to get a full charge. Just wasn't worth it for 6-8 hours with very light use.
Enter CM7 Gingerbread 2.3.6 NAND. Good to decent battery life.
If I could get Mango to perform the way all of you are getting it to, I'd love to switch back. I'm really learning to like Android, as I understand more about how it works, but I'd enjoy more of the WP7 experience.
So that's what I'm doing: record one second video in the camera ("camera trick")
And remember to do it after every reboot of the phone...
To get a full charge, try to use the battery indicator level fix:

(You don't have to do this all the time... just once)
Try it, enjoy it
Found out that part of my battery drain issue was my SD card. Though my Kingston 8GB class 2 "seemed" to be working fine, I realized the strain it was putting on WP7 after I upgraded to a PNY 16GB class 4. It's much faster now and the drain is much lower. turning off wi-fi helps too.
The only solution that worked for me amongst all the options (based on my experience)
1. Tried the camera trick - NOT WORKED
2. Followed the steps below - NOT WORKED
* Boot the phone to MAGLDR
* Select "Reset" option from the menu
* Phone reboots normally
3. Hard reset the phone - NOT WORKED
4. Charge the phone in magldr USB storage option - NOT WORKED
5. Finally, flashed the 2.12 radio, did the camera trick (not sure if its relevant). The battery life has improved dramatically. It lasts more than 24 hours and still running (26% left) - WORKED.
Follow the thread below to download the 2.12 radio

Hello,
I have received my Kindle 4 days ago. Rooted, backup-ed in the next hour and I installed CM7 Barebones edition, a very nice ROM.
After 2 days of intensive use, I found that the battery life in use is very reasonable, but in sleep mode without wifi, no sync and only the core services of android, i notice a 2% battery loss by hour. In the "battery use" menu in parameters, the process "when phone is idle" take me about 10% of battery. I intend to test with or without airplane mode and the battery consumption is about the same.
So my question for the other users of this rom : are you experiencing the same levels of battery consumption in sleep mode ?
Thank you by advance ...

Honestly haven't tired the Bare Bones ROM but I have the WhistleStop CM7 ROM and the Skimp Killah Super Kang CM7 ROM and both are great. I know Whistlestops version gets great battery life with almost no drain in sleep mode. I can sleep all night and only lose 1% with it. Just trying out the SKSK. I'll let you know.
I personally have not extensively tested the battery life of the rom I built (CM7 barebones). I do know the battery for me has no problem lasting a full day, which is fine for my need's. You could always flash over the stock kernel (which I will attach to this post) and compare the two. The current kernel in use is a intersectRaven build (20120110_1106 I think but am unsure). It is still being developed so battery life will likely just get better.
But anyway. Check the attachments on this post for the stock CM7 kernel built 02-01-2012. Also note, the stock kernel is not overclocked. It's default speed is 1008Mhz, where as Raven's is set to 1.2Ghz.
Ok ... indexa question for the whistletop rom, do you put the kf in airplane mode ? When i did not it seek for a signal and eat some power ....
Sent from my Kindle Fire (CM7).

I've notice a similar thing with the battery life. Prior to this ROM I was using whistletop's ROM with no battery loss while the device was sleeping. So as Takenover83 indicated, it's more likely to be an issue with intersectRavens kernal.
No problem, I can live with it for now. I love the responsiveness of this ROM, Thanks Takenover83.
I left my device alone for a little over ~10.5hours. Only thing I turned off was wifi. Note, I have a crap load of app's installed.
After 10 hours, I had 90% battery. So that's roughly 1 percent per hour, which I can live with. This was On Demand 300/1200.
Yeah I noticed a significant drain in battery loss. This morning my kindle was completely dead and when I got it charged I had some serious problems. It seemed wifi stopped working. I was able to connect but none of my google apps couldn't connect.
Hey guyz, I just got an X10 used, it was running on a Wolfbreak ROM and the year old battery drains 4% per hour on minimal use and even just burning a mere 3% in 3 hours when screen off, I was quite satisfied with that bcoz I understood it was a used up old battery but the ROM was just so buggy and it's prone to freezes and glitches so my friend told me to do a full wipe and get back to stock gingerbread 2.3 and i did but the problem is the battery life got even worse, it burns 10% per hour(even when screen off) now. I tried everything, advanced task killer(aggressive, when screen off, security level low), turning off wifi/bt/gps/background data syncing, I set brightness to 25% but it's still like that.
TLDR: ROM was buggy so I went to stock gingerbread and Battery life got worse when I went to stock gingerbread
So I've decided to resort to having a custom ROM again, which ROM is the best for battery life?
the answer might be Wolfbreak and the one I had wasn't that stable
EDIT: or maybe post an alternative method of improving battery life, that I wasn't aware off lol
I thought my battery was doomed.. Until I tried a Note 7 Port. For some reason I get MUCH better battery life on the ports than "stock" custom roms.
On ports I get almost zero drain and 1-1.30 hours per 10% and that is while my phone is even in the pocket most of the day (low standby drain). On the other hand on every stock rom, after the same day, same usage and same apps I have around 45min SOT and down to 70%.
I think Android System is the culprit, but there are still people having amazing battery life on "stock" roms. So how do you stop this Android System drain? It's clearly fixed on the Note 7 and there might be months before we get the updates where the note are now.. But I like stability by far, so would like to go back to stock, if I could stop the drain.
Thanks in advance
