I use my HTC HD2 a lot, so the battery drains quite quickly. I'm currently using android 2.3.5 on Hyperdroid CM7.
The battery life is decent, but I can sometimes barely get through one day with only texting and web browsing.
For those who have used both android and 7 mango, can you please compare the battery lives? I'm thinking of making the switch if it means that I can get more usage.

I guess it's NAND Android? For me, WM 6.5 had always the best battery life but with the camera trick I get slightly better battery life in WP7 mango than in Android...
Atm I'm on WP7 mango (yuki/xbmod bttf) and I can get easily through a day (texting, surfing over wifi and some gaming)...
WM 6.5 was the best, but WP7 with old radio (2.12 without T) is near the WM 6.5 autonomy.
Android in 2.2, 2.3.2, CM7, ... was everytime to drainy to have a daily use. Just good enough to play whan plugged to a charger.
What rom do you suggest I use for best battery life?
Hmm, I'm using the Back To The Future Rom updated to mango including the cleanup (that one made the battery life slightly better)
I have 5mAh drain (after battery trick) when in standby and with moderate use it lasts 2 days. With heavy usage easily one day...
I started out with a HTC Touch Pro. Batt. life was okay
Then I got a Milestone (1): Batterylife was ... okay (1 day)
Then I got a Milestone 2 : Batterylife was similar to MS1 (about 1 day)
THEN I got an HTC HD2 and went for MIUI directly. Battery Life was okay also about 1 day. Then I started using SetCPU wich extended my BattLife ENORMOUSLY. I go from about 6 in the morning until about 12 in the night by HEAVY useage (BT almost all the time, PushMail, FB Chat, WIFI running, listening to music via AD2P all the time).
Then I got bored and decided to mess up my life - so I installed WP7. Took me 3 days to install and get unlocked. Don't misunderstand me: I love the OS. I think WP7 is great in means of style and usability. But besides BT-problems, and Market quality, I went back to MIUI mainly because of one thing: THE BATTERY. With BT running and WiFi on, worst days only got me 5 hours of battery time. Totally unacceptable.
As soon as BatteryLife is improved, I will go back to WP7!
I installed CM7 2.3.5 and Mango 7720, Mango has better battery life than CM7.

Even with SetCPU runnning?
i have usually gotten better battery life out of the miui NAND builds than mango but I'm sure if its because i'm usually playing games on mango than i am on android
I'm having such a different experience with battery life. Mango was an awful drain. Camera trick (if I did it correctly) didn't do anything for me and it seemed impossible to gain a full charge while WP7 was running. Had to boot into Magldr to get a full charge. Just wasn't worth it for 6-8 hours with very light use.
Enter CM7 Gingerbread 2.3.6 NAND. Good to decent battery life.
If I could get Mango to perform the way all of you are getting it to, I'd love to switch back. I'm really learning to like Android, as I understand more about how it works, but I'd enjoy more of the WP7 experience.
So that's what I'm doing: record one second video in the camera ("camera trick")
And remember to do it after every reboot of the phone...
To get a full charge, try to use the battery indicator level fix:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=933751
(You don't have to do this all the time... just once)
Try it, enjoy it
Found out that part of my battery drain issue was my SD card. Though my Kingston 8GB class 2 "seemed" to be working fine, I realized the strain it was putting on WP7 after I upgraded to a PNY 16GB class 4. It's much faster now and the drain is much lower. turning off wi-fi helps too.
The only solution that worked for me amongst all the options (based on my experience)
1. Tried the camera trick - NOT WORKED
2. Followed the steps below - NOT WORKED
* Boot the phone to MAGLDR
* Select "Reset" option from the menu
* Phone reboots normally
3. Hard reset the phone - NOT WORKED
4. Charge the phone in magldr USB storage option - NOT WORKED
5. Finally, flashed the 2.12 radio, did the camera trick (not sure if its relevant). The battery life has improved dramatically. It lasts more than 24 hours and still running (26% left) - WORKED.
Follow the thread below to download the 2.12 radio

hi,
i just flashed my elf to SX 6.0 WM 6.5.
i found out that the battery life in decreasing and i wonder is it due to the rom or is it the weakening of my battery.
previously i was using SX 1.1 WM 6.1
my battery now only last about a day standy
normal usage of a hour and sms daily the battery lasts less than a day.
can anyone help me figure this out?
im worried that i'll spend on a new battery and finding out later that it wasn't the battery's fault.

have u used a hard cid .when u updated ur rom
me 2 i have that probem after i flashed my phone
last update was ONYX 4.8
I tried SX 6.0 and had the same experience - it was on standby pretty much the entire time and had 100% charge. About 20hrs later of just being on standby (GSM on Edge network, no bluetooth/wifi enabled), it was down to 40% battery.
I also noticed, after trying a WM 6.1 ROM that it was much more responsive, though I don't know if all 6.5's are noticably sluggish compared to 6.1 (elfin).
I was thinking it may just be the ROM... that perhaps it had a bit "too much" or something. I was going to try SX 4.1 but the download links are dead now!
If anyone has a copy of SX 4.1, put up a link?
What SPL/IPL are you using now?
SLP 3.14 sucks the life out of my baterry so I switched to 3.10
battery now lasts about 1 1/2days standby and almost a day when using it heavily
I just got word that the battery life from SX 6.0 was due to it having M2D 2.0 on it which is apparently heavy on cpu and battery.
I had purposefully not upgraded to SPL/IPL 3.14 because of the reports of poor battery life with it - I too am using 3.10.
I would have thought though (this is my first touch - I'm coming from an old Motorola V635 which would last a week on one charge with my light usage) that the battery on one of these things would last more than just 1-2 days without a recharge. I'm trying to recondition my battery right now to see if it will give me a bit more life.
I agree that M2D 2.0 drains battery faster, that's why I replaced it with SPB Shell so it lasts longer...

try calibrating your battery

if it's still not enough then buy a new high capacity battery

Hi,
can anyone explain me please why Android is so much power consuming on HD2 comparing to other Android phones or even WM 6.5 on same phone?
I have DL_Desire Installed an I can hardly use my phone for 15hours with normal use.
Why WM 6.5 last for at least 20 hours?!?!
The only thing that is different (about configuration) comparing to WM is the live wallpaper.
A task manager is also installed in order to kill unnecessary apps.
Thanks in advance
Well, if you're running Android from your storage card, then just reading the card all the time is extra work being performed by the phone as compared to reading from NAND, plus the HD2 isn't made to run Android, I mean it's ported, not native, so not everything is perfect. Plus live wallpaper means a little more battery uesed, and task managers use as much battery as they save, so you're not really getting much improvement (if any) in battery life by having a task killer running.
Plus another big battery killer the HD2 has that alot of native Android phones don't have is the huge screen. It eats alot of battery.
But the overall answer: Android is a bit of a battery hog. Thats just the way it is and the price we pay for the best OS choice. My advice is abandon WinMo, boot Android from NAND, find a good combination of ROM, kernel, radio, setcpu settings, and autokiller memory settings that gives you your best balance of performance and battery life. You should get a full day out of that easy and have some battery left over when you plug your phone in at night to charge.
android is more interesting than wm6.5...which will make you use your phone more frequantly...so...it will surely have a shorter battery life
For me, it's 1% or less drain on standby. 2-5mA
It will last for more than 20 hrs on normal use

That's about what I get booting from NAND. 3-7mA stanby booting from sd, but my sd build drains faster when I'm using it than NAND does, but in sleep mode, not much difference between the two.

my standby 2-5mA
my uptime is now 1d23h and there is still 40% battery.
This is with lite use
I think the battery life is great
I think it's 1% for everyone with any build... it's just the time to loose the % which varies
Ok, I go out... once again a useful post...
I have searched around the forum but cant find any recent discussions on what is the best HD2 rom, i recently used CoreDroidGBX and i find the battery life to be pretty good on that (Lasts me till end of day with light use (Light use being screen on about 2-3 hours out of that day) End of day being 7:00 Unplugged Low bat around 5-6:00) But i see about 300-500 mA useage when im actually doing anything on my phone(But just like 2-3mA when its off and i disable data)
So i keep experimenting with different roms and i am wondering what you guys have experienced the best battery life with on your HD2's.
Also i have to manually toggle off data, is there a app to auto do it, like automatically whenever the screen is turned off? I had my phone on battery nearly 24hours (Although i was on my laptop and only used it for like 20 mins of phone calls and a few texts) but still a real full day was awesome

Coredroidgbx? There is a Coredroid series by Sergio and a hyperdroidgbx by Pongster. Both get rave reviews for battery. I run hyperdroid and I get 18 hours of normal use no problem. If you consider watching YouTube and flash video all day normal there is no rom that will last doing that.
Do you prefer a sense or a non sense build? GB or Froyo? CM7 or ASOP?

I would say u need to check some nand built on your own as different phone respond differently to rom built. hyperdroidgbx and rafroid hd 4 are good option to move ahead and check
+1 agree.
Thoese are my favorites too.

tried using CoreDroidGBX before also..
smooth... but battery is almost the same as other builds..
In my opinion the best battery life was in unofficial nightly CM7 by charsingh (1-3mA in standby). But due to some issues i had to switch to Typhoon CM, battery drain is notably higher (6-10mA standby) but for me it is the best ROM ever.
I think that the functionality of the ROM is litle bit more important than small diferences in battery drain.
Motoman234's Moto-MyTouch4G v3.3
Nand build and the best I've tried so far. I can get 2 days with light use (text and moderate calls) and a full day with fairly heavy use ie: web for 1-3 hrs and 1-2 hrs of various games along with calls and texting. I call my family on the east coast frequently and a 2 1/2 hour call is not unusual, loose maybe 20 to 25percent on the call depending on my signal. Great rom, a chef that responds and helps, again nand build. totally functional for me no issues flashed 4 different phones to it so far! .
I as a rule, leave wifi on always and use bluetooth, location, and background data only as needed. Blue tooth and background data will suck the juice right out! Still, if I forget and leave those on I can still get a full 10 hr day out of a single charge, provided i dont spend hrs surfing.
+1 for Cyanogen Mod 7. I tried a lot of DesHD builds but CM7 has the longest battery life by far for me. One charge lasts me about two days with light use. With all DesHD builds i never made it past 24 hours. Usually even less than that.
Furthermore CM7 is just beautiful, especially with cyanbreadX
i'm on rafdroid 4.0 and unplugged this morning at 8 am and the time now is 5:30 and i'm at 60% with moderate use and wifi off.
i will say though that if i play bubble blast 2 that thing sucks the battery like nothing and i'm not sure why. it's amost 1% battery per min i can feel the phone get hot from use.
Running cm7 unoficcial right now and seem to be getting good batter life, but I have seen it actually use 700mA (srsly) when just charging ..
But can idle forever. But lost 15% in an hour during lunch...

I just put HyperDroidGBXv7 on my phone a couple days ago and its been great on battery life so far. I unplugged my phone about a 12hrs ago and its at 74%, averaging about 3-4ma on standby. No classes today, so I've only used it lightly today for some quick wifi browsing, short gaming (Angry Birds), and about 30 texts.
Ok been trying cm7 and for some reason when actually using my phone I seem to get a steady 535mA battery useage, any suggestions on fixing this?

Anybody know why my actually using my phone usage is so darn high? I just flashed to the stock rom, reinstalled magldr + Clockwork and im about to flash android again.
Doubt that will help but i need battery life..

I'm using IamGPC's Pure Gingerbread, although hard to get since he moved his updates from XDA, but I have -2MA in standby. It's a 2.3.3. clean Android version.
I installed NAND android gingerbread 2.3.5 on my htc hd2, I have also turned everything off and even made it to 2G, but my battery is drained in 15 hour without using heavily except playing music for 2 hour journey with screen off.
sounds about right to me, battery life isnt the greatest on the handset
I noticed that when my data and 3G is ON the battery lasts longer
多弄几块电池就好了~~智能机 没办法~~~
但机器越来越像人类一样 - 充满了错误
So I have NAND android on my HD2, currently the Nexus HD2 ICS ROM, and I've noticed that I'm getting only 9 hours out of my phone with wifi off, and only using it VERY occasionally to send a text message (link to picture). This is a bit ridiculous, if I use my phone for anything more, such as drowning out obnoxious idiots with some Alan Parsons Project through my earbuds, or I decide I want to play a game for about 15 minutes, I won't be able to get my phone to last through a full school day!
My question is this: What Android ROM for the HD2 will get me the best battery life? ICS, JB, GB, hell even Froyo. I don't care. I need battery life.
One thing I haven't tried is wiping battery stats or installing any Android "helpers", but I think the question of what ROM get the most out of a battery is a valid question.
Post your ROM, battery life, usage, and if possible include a picture similar to mine.
use juice defender if you are using 3g mutch. and when you rly dont need the phone put it in airplane mode. i have 21h 45m and still 67% texting mutch 20 mins phone calls a day some xda and web browsing.
It isn't a valid question purely because there are so many threads asking exactly the same thing, any of which you could have used instead of creating a new thread. Search before posting in future.
In terms of your question, as I have on multiple other threads I'm going to say that battery life depends largely on usage, not on the ROM. Generally GB ROMs will drain less than ICS or JB ROMs, but what I do is to use a combination of SetCPU and JuiceDefender to maximise my battery life. I get a basic drain of 1% every 1.5ish hours, which is fine for me. As long as my phone lasts the day (which it often does with over 60% left) I'm happy.
