[MOD] Ver2 Remove Flashing Rectangle in JB 4.2.1 Lockscreen (Permanently!) - Galaxy S III General

Hi,
The new JB 4.2.1 lockscreen has added a few nice features. But the lockscreen always flash the white rectangles line each time we turn the screen on and there is no option to turn it off. The rectangles line doesn't go away even after I installed apps to remove widget & camera page. It bugs me to hell. So I decided to remove it permanently for good. Thought to share here in case anyone wants to remove the flashing rectangles line.
Note:
1) This only removed the flashing white rectangles upon turning on the screen. It doesn't remove the white rectangle line when we drag our screen/widget.
2) This modified android.policy.jar. If you have other mods, this mod will break it.
If wish to install it
(based on Sammy XXUFMB3)
Backup your phone 1st. Download the zipfile as attached below and flash it through cwm. Reboot. Done :victory:

Re: [MOD] Remove Flashing Rectangle in JB 4.2.1 Lockscreen (Permanently!)
It does not work for me, there is still flashing rectangle.
And I notice you haven't wipe your phone after flashing 4.2.1 (you still have lockscreen shortcut).
Note: I use mobile odin pro to flash the zip.

I wonder why it didn't work out for you.
No. I wipe it of course. I simply re-enable the lockscreen shortcut in the settings.
Edit: Maybe you can try flashing through cwm

mod problem with ink effect
Hi bro and thanks for the mod,
It have worked for me ( the flashing rectangle disappear) but now the lockscreen ink effect doesn't work ( seems that the gesture effect works but i don't see the ink color), instead the lockscreen lightening gesture work perfectly.
Do you know why? There is a possibility that will be a fix?
Thanks for your work

Hey bro,
i have tried the last zip and the ink effect works but the down-center flashing rectangle appears.
So i have tried to install the first zip mod ( in your first post of this topic) to try if there my s3 problem but the first zip make flashing rectangle disapper ( but obviously ink effect still not work).
So i think that the last 2 mod zips are like corrupted or based on a corrupted zip.
Thanks.

The weird space around battery symbol in v1 is fixed by mattman83! Thanks Matt!
Flash via recovery and
Use them out of any warranty and at your own risk!
Important Notes
- Nandroid Backup first
- always download Original-Battery zip too (if something went wrong)
If you want to use Center_Clock mods:
- flash Center-Clock zip (e.g. ICS_Center_Clock_v1)
- reboot
- after reboot the icons in the statusbar will not appear
- open an application which will set an icon to the left corner of your statusbar .e.g. Airdroid or Terminal Emulator
- voila, your statusbar is back
- the icons will also appear when you receive a message
- you have to do this after each reboot, or when you restore a nandroid backup included Center-Clock_mod
... this way it works.
Right now I don't know how to fix this issue.

Sorry for that matt!
I used framework_res.apk and System.apk for decompile/compiling from my tiny_ics Version.
And this is just a stripped down Sandvold 0.2.1 build without any modificition on this two files.
The pictures above are screenshots from my device. I've tested every single flash file to be sure that they are working.
Maybe someone else with Sandvolds Rom can report back if he have the same issue...

No need to be sorry, that's what nandroid is for
And yeah I know the files in question are exactly the same, so it's really strange. I also run a modded version of sandvold (personal build) but I do not touch those 2 files - so shouldn't cause any issues.
Also - just a heads up - your images don't show for me, i don't think the host you've used doesnt allow embedding in other webpages or you're over the bandwidth limit or something. You probably don't see it because the images are cached on your computer.

If you are talking about the pictures in the opening post - I can see them on two different PC and in Tapatalk...

For some reason the download links on the other forums don't show up with google chrome but they do with IE.
Before I flash this:
How can a battery mod make the SystemUI.apk smaller?
The one in the original 0.2.1.zip is 1,024,264 bytes and yours is 919,814 bytes...
I would really love to get v2 working...but wanted to ask before I try it.
---------- Post added 12th January 2012 at 12:13 AM ---------- Previous post was 11th January 2012 at 11:57 PM ----------
Dunno why, but it's working!
FYI, I have sandvold's 0.2.1 installed, but custom-stripped to fit data++ hboot.
Besides, I found the download links just fine with Chrome.
Maybe you could post a quick tutorial somewhere how you did it?!?
Great job KuliX!
I am running 0.2.1 Sandvold's ICS rom. It is not stripped or modded version. I flashed V2 in recovery and only wiped cache. The battery percentage is showing perfectly.
Also, there is no problems with the pictures in the first post.

I lost my status bar as well.
I'll try again but this time flash rom>boot and setup>reboot, wipe cache and flash mods and then see what happens. I'll report back tomorrow.
On a different computer, different ISP, still can't see the pics - strange.
I'll try the centre clock ones later too, see if that works at all....
M.
Edit - pics show when on my phone using xda app. Neither battery or clock are working for me though.... really don't get it.
Pvt4 phone
S-off with stock hboot
Modded sandvold rom (but haven't touched framework or systemui)
4ext recovery, tried installing from both control app and directly through recovery.
Don't know what would do this.... very strange.
Nice mod here!!
Unfortunately, after installing battery mod wallpaper disappears and the status bar. Ics tiny Rom stage2

Just working on a hunch here - what recovery do you use? Just trying to work it out at the moment.. I'll have a bit of time to dig through it all tomorrow. Hoping to work it out quickly.

I got this working with the Sandvold rom.
Flashed rom with 4EXT touch recovery>booted and set phone up>rebooted into recovery, wiped cache and flashed mod and it works fine.

Hrm, really weird then.... I was thinking that certain recoveries were somehow having issues with it, but that's not it. I'm using 4EXT touch as well and it doesn't work for me. Given we all run the same rom, same hboot, same phone, etc etc i don't get how it doesn't work for some of us.

I also use 4ext. Flashed the 8 different mods around 10 times directly from the build in option in 4ext-app. Without wiping anything. Without any problems.
I really like to know what the problem causes.

[MIUI][JB] SuperBean 2.9.21 ~Even Slimmer!~

This is a highly optimized version of MIUI.us' Nexus S build. I have included several tweaks to make this rom a joy to use. Please inform me of any problems or features you would love to see in the upcoming builds. I will try to update it within a few days of a new release, but of course if I miss posting for a few days don't worry it will come eventually.
Added features:
Removed unnecessary system files that don't apply to our phone, Google Now and Voice Input, wallpapers, and ringtones making this the slimmest MIUI rom available at 123.` mb.
Speed, smoothness, battery, and a bunch more tweaks
Semaphore 2.0.6sc
KC1 Modem

I'd suggest flashing CM9 first, then doing this:
Reboot into Recovery using 3-button-combo (VolumeUp+Home+Power)
Do a Nandroid Backup or your choice backup application (optional)
WIPE (wipe data/factory reset + wipe cache partition)
Install the ROM from internal sdcard
At this point it will restart and continue boot looping – DO NOT PANIC!!
Reboot into Recovery using 3-button-combo (VolumeUp+Home+Power)
Install the ROM from internal sdcard a second time.
Done/reboot

Make a folder in data/system/ named theme and set it with full permissions.
Everything should work except status bars, and dialer themes/phone icon
Apart from that everything seems to be working fine!
Great ROM!
OP's suggestion to get themes working, fixed the theme issue!
Only thing i cant figure out is - Where are the MIUI specific settings? Like , how to configure the notification bar buttons etc.?

Any chance you could make a battery meter like this? These are from Rom Toolbox Pro.
This is a Kinology HD using XDA Premium
That would rock. +1

http://depositfiles.org/files/es5nc0dnx, here, it has a lot of ics true icons, like folder, or real clock ics icons, the battery is 1 % it is from 1 too 100, but you could take all like 5% 10% 15% for example and you wont have any problem, it have wifi icons too, and i think some softkey icons too. it is great !
it has ics true status bar, so, if you want to take more, there you have a lot !
a full ics theme, obiusly, we cant flash it, because isnt for our phone, but images could be used to modify our device and get the same theme ! a true ics

Cause some, such as myself have set in sim manager what sim to use and was quite annoyed with the persistent logo in status - bar and toggle on notification.
I have almost 2 days uptime with above average use with a CPU governor (no-frills)

Thanks for the mod, I used yours and also took out the square around the signal bars...

Perfect!
I'll post icons, replace it there in your SystemUI.apk.
OR
Just post your SystemUI.apk here and I'll replace icons with mine.
On your choice.
I'll be back with ready icons a little bit later, from another comp.

[HOW TO] Activate Hidden Lockscreen Effect in Galaxy Tab3

Just Followed this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2342370 to activate lockscreen particle effect and i can confirm it's working with my T311 with Stock Kitkat ROM , dont know it will works or not with other devices.
Before Follow this Guide, make sure you have rooted your phone.
1) Download sqlite editor app here
2) Open the app and give it root permissions. It should populate a list.
3) Scroll and Tap the "Settings Storage"
4) Tap "Settings.db"
5) Tap "System"
6) Scroll down until you find "lockscreen_ripple_effect"
7) Highlight it and Tap "Edit Record" and change the value between 1-7 (default is 3).
change it to 0, you get the original circle lockscreen.
change it to 1, you get the water ripple effect..
change it to 2, you get the lens flare effect.
change it to 3, you get the particle effect.
change it to 4, you get the N3 water effect.
change it to 5, you get an Xperia-like effect.
change it to 6, you get something like the circle lockscreen, but with a line.
change it to 7, you get something that's a mixture between original circle lock and ripple lockscreen.
11) Save and try the new lockscreen effect.
PS : If you reboot your device, the effect will revert back to default. You have to change manually each time you reboot your device.
Update
i have succesfully add an option to choose the unlock effect in settings menu, but unfortunately its same with previous, it will revert back to "none" each time i reboot.

sure here for you all:
just one bug under fixing, the printing icon too big
Settings are completely inverted with some touch of black, will work of course with screenshot rom version(not sure about other KK ones)
New lockscreen effects enabled, those will revert to none after reboot...still under fixing.
I do not have so much time, but entire blacked out theme will be out when finished..... some fixes needed in framework as some text is still unreadable.
For that popup in previous post regarding effects(Tab S style) u need framework, which has stiil some bugs(you are feel free to ask but no moaning as i'm already aware of bugs )
here is the apk, push it via adb or qtadb, or use a root explorer giving rw-r-r permissions
GREAT! thanks, :good::good:..
will try today..

ahm,,,,, weird...... use your method and enable blind, then reboot, should appear new effects...
otherwise do so:
put again stock settings, via ur method choose value 5, save and check in lockscren effects in settings, noone will be checked.
then reboot and flash mine.
if not, do same and push apk via adb or qtadb.
Which rom version you have?
