[Q] New DVP and a Go Phone sim - Venue Pro General

I just bought an "unlocked DVP", brand new and in the box... Current OS version: 7.10.7720.68, Carrier: ATT-US. My issue is this: I inserted my Sim card from my old phone (ATT Avail Go Phone) and the DVP says "no service"; I am unable to make or recieve calls-- anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

Thats a ATT version of tje DVP. It should work right out of the box. At least the phone should have service, maybe some of the mms setting you may have to tweak later. Check if the phone is not in airplane mode and that everything is "ON".

Thanks for the help, I ended up having to call ATT and using the new sim that came with the phone, but its working now I love this phone and am sure I will have more questions, but I'm trying to read through everything else that everyone has written before I make someone angry by asking something that has been asked a million times already, lol

Need Help: the sim card is missing

Hi,
i've new problem with my S300+!
Yesterday my phone worked well, today I see the following message:
"The SIM card is missing. You can still make emergency calls if your service provider supports it".
I tried to switch the sim card to another phone and the sim works correctly, then i tried to put another TIM sim card on the s300+ and the message is showing too.
What's happened?
Originally the s300+ was SIM locked for SFR sim. But when i bought it, it was unlocked to sim free.
Two weeks ago i've upgraded the radio rom to latest version.
Reading the other device's forum, i've saw that problem may be an hardware problem. How can check if the problem is caused by hardware ?
Can I try to re-unlock the phone? or it is effectless?
Thanks in Advance!
can you try a SFR sim in the phone?
see if it works on that sim.
do you know the person you got the phone from?
how was the phone unlocked?
you could try unlocking the phone again.
I can't try a sfr sim!
I'm in Italy and I've bought the phone in France.
I don't kown the person that have sell the phone, and i don't kown ho the phone was unlocked.
I know that the phone works well for 3 weeks and then not!
I 'm tring to reunlock the phone.
if you do a search on this forum you will find the files needed to sim unlock your phone.
when you have done, may be your phone will be ok again.
On the down side to that may be the person that sold you the phone has reported it lost or stolen and its been blocked/locked if that is the case i dont know what you can do.
I have just unlock the phone, but nothing is changed!!!!
I've also checked my imei on this site:
http://www.amta.org.au/default.asp?Page=405
and it not seems reported as lost or stolen...
I bought a S300+ (SFR Locked) in January 2008 and I unlocked by myself using tools found on this board, it still work fine but with a Vodafone Italy SIM, but sometimes I use a TIM Sim too.
I don't think that your is a lock problem, from the message you get at the powerup sound like an hardware problem but you should try an hardware reset how last option if you didn't it before.
I've made an hard reset, but nothing happens!
Also I've tried to flash a new roms (an italian rom and the original rom), but was not the solution!
I'm not sure where is the problem, because the phone worked well for about 3 weeks, than suddenly shows the missing sim card message....
IS there a site to verify if the imei is blocked? i've try www.ama.org.au
Is There a program or a tool to verify the integrity of hardware, especially for ths sim hardware? or a datasheet of sfr 300+?
I've had the same problem on my trinity and it turned out that I needed a new sim card because the old one burned out after four years of use. This may or may not be your problem.
I solved my problem by inserting a little paper between the SIM and the support lol

Samsung Omnia 7 (i8700) invalid sim error. Please Help

Hello ,
You are my last hope before sending my phone to the service center.
The phone is an Omnia 7 (i8700) orange uk.
The phone was unlocked using an unlocked code service.
The problem is that the device stopped recognized any sim since I did a factory reset.
I have tried 3 different sim and i receive invalid sim or no sim error.
I flashed the phone to the latest firmware from samfirmware.com(I8700XXJK1) but no result.
I have tried the *#7465625# code and i get the following :
SIM/USIM Lock : disabled
Network Lock : disabled
Network Subset Lock : disabled
Service Provider Lock : Disabled
Corporate Lock : Disabled
The phone was working with my local Vodafone SIM till the factory reset.
Is there anything i can try?
Please Help...
When does the error appear?
You could try using the Network profile app? Or maybe a reflash?

Hi ,
When i open the phone i get the following error :

The SIM card is missing ord invalid. You can still make emergency calls if your service provider supports it.
I updated Network Profile App from marketplace but Vodafone Greece or any other Greek carrier are not included.

I have also tried to SIM from different carriers with the same result.
What should i try?
Please help!
Do you beliave that it is a hardware or a software problem?

Since you've flashed the I8700XXJK1 firmware, have you tried hard resetting? Just try that. Also, you could always try a full re-flash.

From the OP's postings it would seem that it's a software problem - else it was very unfortunate timing for a hardware failure.

I assume the sim card slot malfunctioned due to some hardware issue. It will not detect any sim card and will keep on generating errors. Re-flashing won't help either. It is better to return the phone in warranty and do not take any chances. There are good chances that the device will be replaced.
Regards.

The last hope that i have is to flash the device with the new firmware that is going to be released in the next days.
Is there any code from "##634#" menu that i can try to check if there is any lock in the phone?

I'm having the same problem, it just won't accept a Vodafone UK sim. I've just done a full re-flash following the instructions on winrumors.com about restoring a bricked Omnia 7.
Still no joy, just the same error message mentioned in the OP.
Any ideas what else to try?
Hello guys.
It seems that I am not alone with the SIM error problem
Are there any experts in the forum to help us?
Are there any steps to follow to ensure that the problem is software or hardware?
Is there any hope that the new software will fix our devices?
Please help!!!

Hi Looter,
Are you also on Vodafone UK? My Omnia still works with other networks, its just Voda which gives me the error message. I've tried three different working Vodafone sims now and they all give the same message.
Worryingly its the same error message that you get if you boot up the phone with no sim at all installed!
We need help please XDA guru's!

Hi ,
I bought my Omnia 7 from Ebay.
It was Orange UK branded and sim locked.
I purchased the unlocked code and I was able to use my local greek SIM after unlocking it.
Since i did a factory restore , the phone does not recognize any of the local SIM that i have tried returning the invalid SIM error message.
I have tried Vodafone Greece , Cosmote Greece and Wind Hellas SIM cards with the same result.
Have you tried another unlock solution, like the Omnia 7 one available on FastGSM?
Maybe that will do the trick?

Network Lock : disabled

The device shows that there is no SIM lock.
Can someone confirm if a second cody apply will fix the issue?
I think when the phone is SIM locked it returns a different error message and not "invalid sim" , isn't it?
Where are the forum gurus?
My device is showing the simlock as disabled also. I only get the error message when trying to use a Vodafone UK sim though. All other sim cards do not produce that error and instead they boot straight to the home screen.
I'm really tempted to try another unlock because nothing else has worked so this seems like the last option.

So when you use SIM cards different than Vodafone UK you don't receive the error message and you are able to make calls, correct?
I wish i had an orange uk SIM to try out.

Yeah that's correct, in theory. The other sim cards are old Pay & Go sims that have been cut off due to not being used for around 8 years! But they boot straight to the home screen without the error message, just don't get any signal.
I've tried re-unlocking the phone as well and can confirm it was a waste of $20.
Samsung Focus
Hi, I bought my Focus off a dealer on eBay. It seems the problem is that once the device has been unlocked through services like fastGSM, when the phone is given a hard reset changes the setting applied. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

So , as far as i understand , the problem is software and not hardware.
Doz007 mentioned that his phone was still not able to recognize the different SIMS after applying the unlock code for second time.
You verified that the same problem exists in Focus after a hard reset so this is not a Omnia 7 only issue.
Please verify that the lock menu of your phone is in disabled status (check my previous post).
I am really surprised that none has any knowledge to help us with this issue.
Tons of service codes have been posted for our devices but we need some direct help in order to save our phones.

I got to say, your panic is not going to help. First I want you to take a deep breath, and relax. Now, in order for us to help you. We need to have more information. More specifically, the following: Do you have roo. boot loader unlocked? What carrier are you using? What ROM and kernel you're using? Is your sim good? Are you using a micro sim? What radioband you're using? Is your sim card adapter slot damaged? Is your imei bad? Now you need to put this in a detailed explanation with what you have done with your device up until the point in where your phone stopped working.
stock room, one week old device, no root or nothing similar, the phone doesn't show imei number just blank window (*#06#)

If it's stock and all you did was do an OTA upgrade to 4.2.2 have you tried talking to your carrier? Being only a week old I would use their assistance to your advantage especially if you did not unlock/root the device. (not sure how you came across the sim card, if it was sold with the phone like it was with mine at T-Mobile, or if you just got the phone and then used a sim from the carrier).
but t mobile will send nexus to repair's for a month so do not want to be w/o my phone for so long.I'd like to solve it home...

Need some help getting back into things, thanks!

Hey all! I have made the switch to a Nexus 6P about a year ago, so I am quite rusty with the S5 and how to do things with it. I recently sold an S5 on swappa, and I am attempting to help that user get it back to stock. I would have done this before selling, but we thought the process would have been more simple.
To quote the user I am assisting at the moment "... I crossed into canada a few days ago, phone worked good with international plan. cross back to US and keep getting weird "not registered on network" messages and have 0 connectivity to my Verizon phone network. Tried new sim card, verizon store says the issue is because it is rooted etc (doubt they know what they are talking about)....But figured i'd do a clean install etc and see what happens. Followed instructions for Odin. From what i read it sounds like I need the OA 8 Lollipop retail tar..phone model number is SM-G900V. Keep getting "NAND Write Start!! FAIL! (Auth)" in Odin. Tried multiple USB cables and other random tips I found online. Any advice? Am I using the wrong stock tar?"
What can I/we do to resolve this issue? I have searched xda, but I am totally lost with the S5 to be honest. Things have changed so much since I used the phone that I have no idea where to start. It was on Alliance ROM before I shipped it. It has the Toshiba eMMC (or whichever doesn't have bootloader unlock).
Again, thanks in advance guys!
Some more info about the phone, I'm the buyer.
Still running Alliance. I do have an IMEI # (some sites say that could be an issue).
Model/Phone name is Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-G900V
Baseband Version is G900VVRU2BOK3
Kernel Version: 3.4.0 [email protected] #1
Tue Nov 17 20:06:51 KST 2015
Build number: AllianceROM_VZW_V10_G900V_XXU1BOH4
Knox version 2.3
Exact message I get is "out of service area" when i make a call. then a "mobile network not available" message will pop up after.

Silly question, but have you tried pulling the battery, and Sim, let it sit for a sec, then power on to see if you have service? Might just need to reset the prl. Never been to Canada with the phone so idk what's going on ha.
Could also check the data settings to make sure it's set to CDMA+LTE instead of global or whatever other options it has. You haven't flashed a new radio file, have you? @miketon907

Ok, just trying to rule things out.
You activated the SIM in the US and used it before going to Canada, right?
Yep. so Sim card A which I got after buying the phone was working good. I went to Canada and used same sim card on international plan, went back to US and suddenly phone loses mobile connection and has no service as soon as I cross US border. went to Verizon for sim card B, sim card B does not work either.

You could try just doing a factory reset on recovery if you haven't already. Instead of starting from stock. Just wipe the data partition. If you wipe the system partition it won't have anything to boot into
oh. Well i'll try that later tonight. Report back around 11pm est. thanks!

Try flashing one of the modems on this page. It should reset the radio to have service again. I'd do it without the sim card in. Boot once, you obviously won't have service since there isn't a sim. Then turn off the device, insert the SIM and reboot.
I am looking into the write fail now just in case you can't even flash a modem file.
Also, you downloaded the samsung drivers, correct?
EDIT: I found an old thread that might help you troubleshoot odin - http://forums.androidcentral.com/sa...hacks/391849-galaxy-s5-odin-failing-root.html
EDIT 2: You might just have to switch to a different tar file. This user states that they used the same stock version as the one they were currently on. I'd give that a shot first. Then check to make sure "block reactivation" in security settings isn't checked. The exact directions that should get you going are from a user on that page, as follows;
"chainfire xda quote op-Follow these instructions to the letter. Do not touch any buttons or checkboxes that are not listed below to touch!
- Download and unzip the CF-Auto-Root-....zip file (see posts below this one)
- If you end up with a recovery.img and cache.img file, you've extracted twice. You need to end up with a .tar.md5 file - don't extract that one
- (USB) Disconnect your phone from your computer
- Start Odin3-vX.X.exe
- Click the PDA button, and select CF-Auto-Root-....tar.md5
- Put your phone in download mode (turn off phone, then hold VolDown+Home+Power to boot - if it asks you to press a button to continue, press the listed button, or run adb reboot download command)
- (USB) Connect the phone to your computer
- Make sure Repartition is NOT checked
- Click the Start button
- Wait for Android to boot
- Done (if it took you more than 30 seconds, you need practise!)
NOTE: Sometimes the device does *not* boot into recovery mode and root your device. Just do the entire procedure again if this happens. If it still will not install root and such, make sure that in Odin "Auto Reboot" is not checked. Then after flashing, pull the battery, and boot with VolUp+Home+Power button to boot into recovery manually. This will start the install process.
New to Samsung? Unfamiliar with Odin? Think all the above is a hassle? Get used to it. It's very simple, and us Samsung folk use Odin (or Mobile ODIN ) for everything! It's so very very convenient once you get used to it. Notice the 30 second comment above? For experienced users, the entire process indeed takes only 30 seconds!" - Dale Borrelli
Final note. Try the tar for the android version you are currently on first, then go up to the version you'd like to be on.
Edit: @miketon907 any luck yet?
yes, thanks a lot. flashing the modem worked. have service now again.

Hello everyone I bought the second hand used essential phone version of TELUS on ebay. The phone does not see the SIM card of any cellular operators. Emergency calls only. Unlock code does not ask. In Sim-Status menu - network/signal/cellular network type/operator/imei/iccid - all not awailable. In imei information menu - imei is ok. I tried to change the firmware, tried all versions starting with Android 7. I tried to change the modem version, does not help. What can you advise? Maybe the phone has a broken SIM receiver?

Think someone had similar problem before, they found there was a small piece if plastic/metal or something blocking the SIM contacts (or was that they couldn't put SIM in slot?) they were able to move it with tweezers and get phone to work.
(Though yours could be something else of course)
