Samsung Omnia 7 (i8700) invalid sim error. Please Help - Omnia 7 General

Hello ,
You are my last hope before sending my phone to the service center.
The phone is an Omnia 7 (i8700) orange uk.
The phone was unlocked using an unlocked code service.
The problem is that the device stopped recognized any sim since I did a factory reset.
I have tried 3 different sim and i receive invalid sim or no sim error.
I flashed the phone to the latest firmware from samfirmware.com(I8700XXJK1) but no result.
I have tried the *#7465625# code and i get the following :
SIM/USIM Lock : disabled
Network Lock : disabled
Network Subset Lock : disabled
Service Provider Lock : Disabled
Corporate Lock : Disabled
The phone was working with my local Vodafone SIM till the factory reset.
Is there anything i can try?
Please Help...

When does the error appear?
You could try using the Network profile app? Or maybe a reflash?
Casey

Hi ,
When i open the phone i get the following error :
SIM error
The SIM card is missing ord invalid. You can still make emergency calls if your service provider supports it.
I updated Network Profile App from marketplace but Vodafone Greece or any other Greek carrier are not included.
I really dont understand. My Vodafone GR SIM was working normally until the reset.
I have also tried to SIM from different carriers with the same result.
What should i try?
Please help!

Do you beliave that it is a hardware or a software problem?

Since you've flashed the I8700XXJK1 firmware, have you tried hard resetting? Just try that. Also, you could always try a full re-flash.

From the OP's postings it would seem that it's a software problem - else it was very unfortunate timing for a hardware failure.

I assume the sim card slot malfunctioned due to some hardware issue. It will not detect any sim card and will keep on generating errors. Re-flashing won't help either. It is better to return the phone in warranty and do not take any chances. There are good chances that the device will be replaced.
Regards.

The last hope that i have is to flash the device with the new firmware that is going to be released in the next days.
Is there any code from "##634#" menu that i can try to check if there is any lock in the phone?

Oddly, mine has just done the same thing. All of a sudden its telling me there is no Sim installed. Have tried multiple sims with no joy. Would like to format the device and start from scratch but i will lose all my contacts and sms's ...... brilliant

I'm having the same problem, it just won't accept a Vodafone UK sim. I've just done a full re-flash following the instructions on winrumors.com about restoring a bricked Omnia 7.
Still no joy, just the same error message mentioned in the OP.
Any ideas what else to try?

Hello guys.
It seems that I am not alone with the SIM error problem
Are there any experts in the forum to help us?
Are there any steps to follow to ensure that the problem is software or hardware?
Is there any hope that the new software will fix our devices?
Please help!!!

The February update is back online for Omnia 7 devices.
I am installing the new software using Zune now.
Let's hope that our problem will be fixed...

Hi Looter,
Are you also on Vodafone UK? My Omnia still works with other networks, its just Voda which gives me the error message. I've tried three different working Vodafone sims now and they all give the same message.
Worryingly its the same error message that you get if you boot up the phone with no sim at all installed!
We need help please XDA guru's!

Hi ,
I bought my Omnia 7 from Ebay.
It was Orange UK branded and sim locked.
I purchased the unlocked code and I was able to use my local greek SIM after unlocking it.
Since i did a factory restore , the phone does not recognize any of the local SIM that i have tried returning the invalid SIM error message.
I have tried Vodafone Greece , Cosmote Greece and Wind Hellas SIM cards with the same result.

Have you tried another unlock solution, like the Omnia 7 one available on FastGSM?
Maybe that will do the trick?

The device shows that there is no SIM lock.
Can someone confirm if a second cody apply will fix the issue?
I think when the phone is SIM locked it returns a different error message and not "invalid sim" , isn't it?
Where are the forum gurus?

My device is showing the simlock as disabled also. I only get the error message when trying to use a Vodafone UK sim though. All other sim cards do not produce that error and instead they boot straight to the home screen.
I'm really tempted to try another unlock because nothing else has worked so this seems like the last option.

So when you use SIM cards different than Vodafone UK you don't receive the error message and you are able to make calls, correct?
I wish i had an orange uk SIM to try out.
Let's hope that someone with greater knowledge will help us soon...

Yeah that's correct, in theory. The other sim cards are old Pay & Go sims that have been cut off due to not being used for around 8 years! But they boot straight to the home screen without the error message, just don't get any signal.
I've tried re-unlocking the phone as well and can confirm it was a waste of $20.

Samsung Focus
Hi, I bought my Focus off a dealer on eBay. It seems the problem is that once the device has been unlocked through services like fastGSM, when the phone is given a hard reset changes the setting applied. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

So , as far as i understand , the problem is software and not hardware.
Doz007 mentioned that his phone was still not able to recognize the different SIMS after applying the unlock code for second time.
You verified that the same problem exists in Focus after a hard reset so this is not a Omnia 7 only issue.
Please verify that the lock menu of your phone is in disabled status (check my previous post).
I am really surprised that none has any knowledge to help us with this issue.
Tons of service codes have been posted for our devices but we need some direct help in order to save our phones.

Htc tytn help needed

Hi everyone i need abit of help.
iv recently got a HTC TYTN from a friend but it has no network, the phone operates well and i can play mp3's and videos(everything works fine). But there is no network when i search for one it gives me all the networks i need but does not register itself on the network according to the sim im using. The only time it gets a network if i turn off and on flight mode then i will search for network, but this hardly works iv had the phone for a month and i only got a network twice, but if turn off the phone and back on again i have to go through the same flight on and off procedure to get a network.
Please help.
either the phone is blocked by the IMEI number or you need to upgrade the radio rom
look on the wiki there are links there for radio roms
If the imei is blocked then you are screwed as nothing will unblock it except the network provider that blocked it originally
thanks man. Will try how do i check my bootloader version and radio bootloader.
i wouldnt worry about the bootloader version click start > settings > system > device info and it will tell you the radio version there. are you sure that the device worked ok on the sim provider you are using. What i mean is ,is the hermes unlocked to any network ,have you tried a sim from another provider?
when swithed it on it does not ask unlock codes or nething. it goes through but no network. im in south africa and we only have 3 service providers MTN,VODACOM and CELL C.
CELL C works only if i turn off and on flight mode, i got it right once. I tried the other sevice providers and nothing works.
radio version is 1.18.00.10
But for this radio rom thing to work dont i need RadioBootloader version 107 or less
so if you put another providers sim in the phone do you get this sign ! where the ariel strength should be? if so it may not be sim unlocked. But that will show even if it has been blocked. Was your friend on a contract and then stopped paying it so he gave you the phone or did you buy it from him
Yip i do get this sign !. im not sure where he got the phone from. i never bought it from him.
if you havent done so already install HARDSPL you can find the link here and the instructions how to do it as well
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_HardSPL
thanks buddy gonna try it out.
once you have installed hardspl install this which will cid and sim unlock so you can flash any rom to the device and use any sim
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Hermes/Tools_and_Programs/HTC_Hermes_SIM_CID_Unlock_v3a.zip
I have a feeling though that your phone is blocked though mate, if it accepts one sim but not the others but worth a try anyway
You can download a new vision of your PPC's radio driver,I tihnk 1.47.30.10 is the best
Changing the Radio ROM isn't advised as this is a sure-fire way to brick your Hermes if something goes wrong with the flash.
If the phone IS blocked then no amount of OS or radio ROM changing is gonna fix.

Need Help: the sim card is missing

Hi,
i've new problem with my S300+!
Yesterday my phone worked well, today I see the following message:
"The SIM card is missing. You can still make emergency calls if your service provider supports it".
I tried to switch the sim card to another phone and the sim works correctly, then i tried to put another TIM sim card on the s300+ and the message is showing too.
What's happened?
Originally the s300+ was SIM locked for SFR sim. But when i bought it, it was unlocked to sim free.
Two weeks ago i've upgraded the radio rom to latest version.
Reading the other device's forum, i've saw that problem may be an hardware problem. How can check if the problem is caused by hardware ?
Can I try to re-unlock the phone? or it is effectless?
Thanks in Advance!
can you try a SFR sim in the phone?
see if it works on that sim.
do you know the person you got the phone from?
how was the phone unlocked?
you could try unlocking the phone again.
I can't try a sfr sim!
I'm in Italy and I've bought the phone in France.
I don't kown the person that have sell the phone, and i don't kown ho the phone was unlocked.
I know that the phone works well for 3 weeks and then not!
I 'm tring to reunlock the phone.
if you do a search on this forum you will find the files needed to sim unlock your phone.
when you have done, may be your phone will be ok again.
On the down side to that may be the person that sold you the phone has reported it lost or stolen and its been blocked/locked if that is the case i dont know what you can do.
I have just unlock the phone, but nothing is changed!!!!
I've also checked my imei on this site:
http://www.amta.org.au/default.asp?Page=405
and it not seems reported as lost or stolen...
I bought a S300+ (SFR Locked) in January 2008 and I unlocked by myself using tools found on this board, it still work fine but with a Vodafone Italy SIM, but sometimes I use a TIM Sim too.
I don't think that your is a lock problem, from the message you get at the powerup sound like an hardware problem but you should try an hardware reset how last option if you didn't it before.
I've made an hard reset, but nothing happens!
Also I've tried to flash a new roms (an italian rom and the original rom), but was not the solution!
I'm not sure where is the problem, because the phone worked well for about 3 weeks, than suddenly shows the missing sim card message....
IS there a site to verify if the imei is blocked? i've try www.ama.org.au
Is There a program or a tool to verify the integrity of hardware, especially for ths sim hardware? or a datasheet of sfr 300+?
I've had the same problem on my trinity and it turned out that I needed a new sim card because the old one burned out after four years of use. This may or may not be your problem.
I solved my problem by inserting a little paper between the SIM and the support lol

unknown sim error

Hi,
I have a locked Spanish xperia x2. Following the suse update procedure reported in the forum I managed to load the GENERIC_UK_R3AA035_CABS.rar. After alla the cab installation the langauage is finally English but X2 gives me “unknown sim error”. What I am missing? thank and regards
andrea
Does the sim card work in a different phone?
Can you get a replacement sim card?
I remember that I had some issues with my phone one morning and I happened to walk by an official T-Mobil store while in downtown Chicago. It turned out that a number of specific, older, sim cards did not work due to an update on the network. So the T-Mobil guy just copied my sim to a new one and i was on my way with a working sim/phone.
One small point to know: I had the sim card for about 8 years. It was still Voice Stream (now T-Mobil). So it was a really old sim.
I have 2 new sim card working perfectly in my old X1. For none of them I have to insert pin code in X1.
In X2 I insert the pin code and then receive the error message. May this be due to the fact X2 was locked?
But shouldn't have been the loading I did of
GENERIC_UK_R3AA035_CABS.rar.
unlocking it?
what am I missing?
to unlock my X2 is GENERIC_UK_R3AA035_CABS.rar enough or should I purchase on the net an unlocking code?
thanks
no, you have done everything right so far. now just do the sues upgrade again and it'll boot the english rom (based on what cabs you downloaded on your phone) and your phone should be working fine. tell me how everything turns out. and good luck

Flashing a different language/rom has NOTHING to do with the fact that your phone is SIM LOCKED. And it will stay sim locked until SIM is UNLOCKED. But not with flashing a language or rom or anything via SEUS.

SM-G950U1 (XAA) - Cellular network can't be found after update/reboot/cache-wipe

Hi All - hoping to get your help and advice.
Original S8 was a USA SM-G950U on T-Mobile that was successfully flashed and unlocked to SM-G950U1 (CSC = XAA). The phone was fully functional, successfully received OTA updates and was on the latest firmware (G950U1UES5CRL2) in use in Hong Kong (3HK 4G LTE) until yesterday when I did a hard-reboot and cache-wipe a few days after a system update and now the cellular radio won't connect to any network. I've tested the SIM card (works fine on other phones), rebooted without the SIM inside (no impact), tried upgrading to Android 9.0 as well as older Bootloader v5 firmware to see if the cellular radio would turn on and re-connect but no luck.
Current State: When looking under "Mobile networks", Network mode shows "Preferred network mode: CDMA/EVDO/GSM/WCDMA" whereas it used to be "LTE/3G/2G". This option is available under the drop down list but I can't selected it. Under "Network Operators", tapping "Search networks" results in an error "Error while searching for networks". Tapping "Select automatically" pops an error "Unable to connect. Try later".
After exhaustive testing, it feels like the phone is behaving like it's SIM-locked since everything else works thru wifi but it's on the SM-G950U1 XAA unlocked firmware so it shouldn't be locked?? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your feedback! What's strange was that my S8 with the unlocked firmware (SM-G950U1) was working perfectly for 6 months and I was able to make calls, get LTE data connectivity, etc. Now the phone is still working via wifi but the cellular function is dead. Any suggestions or advice on how to remove the T-Mobile SIM lock?

I've tried 2 different SIM cards (though both from the same carrier) and both were not connecting to the mobile network. The phone can detect when there isn't a SIM card inserted so that is a minor indicator that the SIM card slot is functional.... any other suggestions on how to verify whether my S8 is SIM locked?
EDIT: Both SIM cards work in other phones (iPhone6s, iPhoneX).

Of coarse not always but most of the time it will display a warning or something about sim not accepted. This sounds like to me. A couple things. Simlocked. Maybe install the T-Mobile firmware again and try the T-Mobile unlock app. It should say this device is already unlocked or successful. If that passes. It could be a disabled band or something. Sounds like the latter. Like it's not picking up your carriers signal. Again the us models I believe are pretty universal so maybe a different firmware may enable it again. Or last the device has somehow become blacklisted which unfortunately I have seen plenty of people here in US sell devices still on contract maybe pay a few months and quit then blacklists

I tried to change the firmware, tried all versions starting with Android 7. I tried to change the modem version, does not help. What can you advise? Maybe the phone has a broken SIM receiver?

I tried to change the firmware, tried all versions starting with Android 7. I tried to change the modem version, does not help. What can you advise? Maybe the phone has a broken SIM receiver?
Bootloader:
Variant - TELUS
Bootloader - mata-43cf58f
Baseband - 2.0.c4-M1.3.1

Device state - unlocked

Think someone had similar problem before, they found there was a small piece if plastic/metal or something blocking the SIM contacts (or was that they couldn't put SIM in slot?) they were able to move it with tweezers and get phone to work.
(Though yours could be something else of course)
